Remember that this is the one of biggest award show in south korea, and bts sweep ALL GRAND PRIZES (daesangs) on MMA 2019 that are Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Giving almost 40 minutes live performance. They're truly a legend.
One thing to know about their 45 min long award show ending performances: there will be ONE song that is pre-recorded cause they need time for costume change for the final number which is ALWAYS live. Mikrokosmos was the taped performance and you can see because it featured AR (augmented reality). They still sing it live for the taping but it's not live when they run it on the show. For that one the audience saw a video on a screen but the award show used the AR version for tv. For the solo performances only RM and Jimin's was done live, everyone else's was pre-taped as well because their costume changes were more significant than Jimin and RM. The part with the horses was also done before the show started because so many lights and audience would probably frighten the animals. They always sing live but of course use backing tracks because they aren't doing harmonies while trying to sing and dance. Also the backing track allows them to do special choreo for songs because then they just won't sing. BTS collectively doesn't lip sync very well so if they aren't going to sing a section they don't even place their mics near their mouths.
They all performed their solo live, they just did it in their Dionysius costume. Jk was on stage dancing along while his video was playing. There are tan cams out there of the whole performance that show it. RM’s Persona that’s shown is also the pre-record version, but he still performed it on stage too.
@@sjm5750 Yes but the video doesn't show that. I was talking about what they see on the video. I've seen the cams, they've done that since at least 2018. The RM part you are correct about I forgot they had to do a cut so that the guys could get into the classroom for BIL/BWL.
@@anitralarae_mahjacat I've heard so many different numbers, I have no idea. They wouldn't be responsible for paying for everything, but I can tell you they did spend quite a bit of money on this.
'boy with luv' is actually not about mushy romantic love, it's about enjoying the small things. In fact the Korean title for the song is 'A Poem for small things", like hearing about a persons day. Enjoying those moments.
I loved that with the lines "text me" the two members of TXT - that were old enough to be still there - were shown. Somone had a sense of humor. The song is for and with Army - so we are in a way the "small things". Which is why the English title is different. That is BTW also true for the song they did before: "Boy in Luv" which in Korean is "Macho men". You nice! Keep going! 💜
me, es que los premios coreanos están a otro nivel, literal en todo. Las performances cuentan una historia, pero me gustaria ver una combinacion de 1er, 2da, 3era y 4ta generacion, siento que sería EPICO xd
the theme of the album released in 2019 was somewhat connected to the greek mythology. before the Dionysus performance itself every member had a solo performance with some of remixes of their biggest songs over their seven years, each member represent a god or goddess • V (Taehyung), No More Dream Remix (2013), Apolo, god of the sun • Jin, Danger (2014). Athena, goddess of wisdom and war, or Ares, god of war. stage point to the battle of Troy and the Trojan Horse • Jimin, I Need U (2015), Artemis, goddess of the moon and twin to Apollo • Suga, Fire (2016) Hephaestus, god of fire, or Hades, god of the underworld • Jungkook, Save Me (2016), Poseidon, god of the sea • J-Hope, Fake Love (2018), Zeus, god of lightning and thunder • RM, Dionysus (2019), Dionysus himself, god of wine and art, complete with thyrsus - wooden wand entwined with ivy and grape leaves, a symbol of prosperity, fertility, hedonism, and pleasure/enjoyment in general, it's compared to a mic. Dionysus is a God often called Eleutherios which means the liberator, because his wine, music and ecstatic dance freed his followers from self-consciousness and the restraints of society. As BTS compare wine to the art in the song, they are Dionysus of music industry, the gods of music and dance, who gift their listeners freedom, food for thought and a helping hand to be strong and be better seven lights that were hanging down formed the Corona Borealis - the constellation that represents the crown of Ariadne, given to her before the marriage to Dionysus, made by the god Hephaestus
@@timothywest1183 LOL same. I knew the gods for awhile after seeing this, but I remember finding out about the Corona from a comment like this later on. My jaw hit the floor. I shouldn't have been surprised - everything means something with the guys - but it just blew me away.
“The Grammys are the best award show in music.” LOL!!! I can’t even type that with a straight face. BTS MMA 2019 is the greatest award show performance of all time. They basically gave BTS enough time to do whatever they wanted.
MMA- Melon Music Awards MAMA- MNet Asian Music Awards Just in case, these are 2 different major award shows, and BTS at both shows swept all 4 GRAND PRIZES... Thanks for the reactions...💜💜💜
It’s an award show?!?! How do you watch another award show after that. I stopped watching award shows in the states years ago. I have seen this I don’t know how many times. Hope you two enjoyed it. 💜
As other armys have mentioned the two most well-known awards are MMA and MAMA, something curious that I have noticed is that MMA gives the chance to put a pre-recorded performance in the middle for them to change their clothes, but MAMA is 100% all live, regarding the change of clothes, they only put a video as an introduction to the next song, for me it is interesting to see the fancams of the live performance and to see behind the scenes when the camera focuses somewhere they run away to the other side, everything is very chaotically organized.
@@MixItUpPodcastsomething that always impressed me was how consistently and often BTS gives credit to the crew and backup dancers, etc. They go out of their way to share the spotlight with those who make them shine so bright. They are very aware and make sure we are too, that a TEAM of people work hard to make sure the performance and the members look and sound SPECTACULAR
@@MixItUpPodcast yes, and much of it is done with the backup dancers, and all the crap pushed and pulled on stage during that last song. Round of applause for the back up dancers on that.
Seriously, it's better if you ignore those who complain about you pausing the video to talk and discuss things. You are doing a reaction video and whoever clicks on the thumbnail already knows that you guys are going to react and say something about what you're watching. Personally, I find it more annoying if the reactors talk over the video to the point where I can barely hear what they're saying. You guys are already doing great, we're here to hear your views about the performance. Feel free to hit pause whenever you want to talk.
I love love how you notice all aspects if the performances. For me, it's a huge satisfaction when reactors with an understanding of stage productions, genuinely appreciate how much work and artistic directions are put into BTS's performances. BTS members themselves also contributes to the production of their performances. They're all really amazing performers. That's what I love about their Bang Si-hyuk, their Chairman and founder of their agency, who is also their Mentor, he constantly encourages the group to push their boundaries to participate in writing, production and a whole bunch of stuff. He also emphasise a lot on teamwork, which has resulted in the group members always supporting, motivating and sharing ideas with each other.
It comes somewhat natural to us to recognize. Aich and I have been musicians for 20 years and we both ran the graphics, merch, stage shows, performances and videos n such for the groups we were in. We know the work that is involved and can recognize the effort and talent. Thank you for your comment!!!
❣️Jimin’s solo performance, wearing a modernized hanbok just fastened by ties only, had many different dance elements in it! Including the barrel leaps taken from Korean dance elements, some martial arts elements, (trained for 8 yrs in various forms w/blackbelt in Taekwondo), & of course contemporary dance. Also, equally ever so stunningly outstanding, was Jimin's scarf work, which is alone so hard to master, without getting that ever so thin veil of a scarf all tangled! Jimin somehow was able to make the scarf one with himself, using it as an extension, even at one point when he did that amazing jump leap straight up the scarf becoming his wings!! Jimin's whole performance was so amazingly stunningly beautiful. Just so effortlessly breathtakingly mesmerizing to see!! Though the other members did a version of their solo performances for benefit of the live audiences, for the broadcast version as seen here, viewer see the prerecorded version, that was prerecorded the day before, since especially JK’s performance in water with that heavy tank that weighed a ton wouldn’t be able to maneuver for live audience, as well as some of the other effects seen like for Mikrokosmos, also the part with the horses was obviously prerecorded as a safeguard for the horses. It also gave a chance for BTS come up for air as well as give them time to change. Jimin was the only one who didn’t have the benefit of prerecorded VCR, which meant that for his solo performance by the broadcasted version, viewers saw Jimin perform live only. While the broadcast version showed for rest of members the prerecorded version. But once again the live audience did get an opportunity to see BTS members do a version of their solos.
I don't think people get just how hard it is to work with a piece of fabric while dancing, let alone one with barely any weight to it. What Jimin does in this solo is masterful in so many ways - his body control, his lines (dear lord, his lines), just all of it. I love this and the blindfold dance he did to Lie from I think MAMA 2016 (talk about body control, jeesh) so much. They are my go to when I need a dance fix.
Jimin is the contemporary dancer and went to a contemporary arts school of some sort back in the day. I think he took a little ballet but contemporary is for sure his forte and has definitely always been where he shines most (he did a lot of solo dancing in black swan for instance which is mostly contemporary). While J-hope has more of a street dance/pop and lock style (tho he as well as jimin are really versatile) and has won many competitions and even one at the national level back before he joined ☺️😙✌🏾💜
@@sinevins Jimin did popping and locking. He did dance at two different schools - it was only at the later that he needed to do contemporary as a major part (because of the kind of program they had) for 1-2 years. He was called "The Rising star of Busan" by a news outlet. But he also competed in Hiphop styles (and won) and had for a class (?) either the fee waved or a teacher paid for it - his family was poor - and they thought it would be sad if Jimin had to give up - with Jimin's work ethic that made him better than dancers who theoretical had more talent. His homeroom teacher spoke later about how he was unhappy when Jimin auditioned for Big Hit and planed to tell him that he should concentrate on a dance career/training more. He was unhappy, believing that the world of dance was loosing a major talent when Jimin passed. But understandbly that view changed. Jimin got an appreciation plaque for his fan dance (Idol) by a tradional society. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But yes - absolutly: Hobi signed a contract first. He was "only" put into BTS months (?) later and moved in on the 24th of December 2010. I think some people refered to BTS as that group with Jung Hoseok. 💜
@@ruthfischer7615 Yeah, I know that stuff already, but thanks anyways. I do my research, or atleast try too, or I don't usually say much like that, lol. Maybe others might not, but I do. But especially in this area because I have experience in dance myself. As for the last part, the company Big Hit, itself, was known as "Jung Ho-seok's company", not sure about people calling the group that specifically, but I think I have heard of something similar when some were refering to the group, atleast in the beginning. But they referred to the company that way because Hobi was already quite well known, and accomplished, as a dancer, even before his debut. And also, I like the plaque of appreciation that Jimin got from the Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society. It looked really cool. I like how they designed it.
@@sinevins It's always a question of who you "talk" to: Do they know? What do they know? Are they interested? And how much is wrong/"knowledge" that only is "known" by a few people. People do not have to lie to missinform. Not to mention how someone formulates something can give away a lot or create a wrong idea. My first assumption is - if they are not new - they know - but they may missinform because they are... solos? shippers? antis? half-informed? insecure? paied to? The closer you look the more complicated it gets. I clarify with the dance for Jimin because when you look closer it wasn't actually that long - just intense. But let's take for example Kai: he is a very good dancer and he had at least some ballett lessons - but I'm not sure I have ever seen someone calling him versatile. Someone suggested that his label leaned on it to make him seen "better" (he is one of the best dancers in Idol music) while he does show little of it in his dancing. Complicated to answer because I know so little about dancing. I just wanted to clarify: THIs is NOT an attack. I just wanted to clarify how I understood your information when I thought they could create a false image. You nice! Keep going!
BTS & Bighit are so generous to their performances when it comes to awards shows... from concept, props, performances, back up dancers, staff and crew. Always an awesome and entertaining performances....always top notched. They raised the bars on stage performances. Shoutout to all the people who made this production excellent. I
In the intros to each BTS member it was V first. Then Jin on the Trojan horse. The contemporary dance (ballet) was Jimin. The water dance was Jungkook, The Fire was Suga. JHope with Fake love dance remix Then RM with the septor at the end and yes the lights were into to each member. 2019 MMA where one of their best Award Showd. The swept all 4 Top Award Best Album, best song, best artists, and best record of the year. They also won all 4 of the same on the other Award show MAMA (Asian Award show too) their 2018 was good too. Everything BTS does go out of the way of production even their MVs . I'm 46 and love BTS Icame across them a few years ago and was hooked ever since. Don't worry Army won't attack you cause a song isn't for you. That's OK. However they may if you judge them or snide remark them. I'm not one of those but as you probably already know they are very protective lol. I do enjoy watching your reactions on BTS tho. Keep enjoying them and I'll be back for your BTS reactions.
What Namjoon/RM had was a Thyrsus - which is a symbol for Dionysus. They all introduced themselves with remixes - well the first 6: Taehyung/V with "No More Dream" Jin with "Danger" Jimin with "I Need U" Yoongi/Suga with "Fire" JK with "Save Me" Hoseok/J-Hope with "Fake Love" Namjoon/RM came in with Dionysus (in the song the dance break was to "N.O.") Jimin and Namjoon were the only one live on TV (the rest did perform but not the way the livestream saw). Now make a guess who of them made a pretty interesting mistake? Poor Namjoon/RM nearly hurt himself severly. He likely had to endure some jokes for that. Another fun fact is that one of the dancers was late moving a chair and Jimin had to sit on air because of that before the dancer noticed and moved it. You nice! Keep going! 💜
I think they had planned to begin their military service in 2020 but COVID and Dynamite happened and so it got postponed. So, if they went originally according to their plans, this performance would have been their send of performance until they return from the military. I think that’s why they gave BTS a much longer segment. They also encompassed all their major songs from debut up until 2019 in the performance. EPIC INDEED!
@@n9_sn92 There is a good chance that that wouldn't have been till the end of the year. Keep Jin's age in mind. Remember: than the "BTS law" was introduced...
V opened with the dance, Jin was on the horse, Suga was the fire, Jimin was the dancer in white, Jungkook was in the water, JHope danced with the lights, and RM used the giant staff...
At the Grammy Museum SUGA said in an interview to KPOP as a genre of music , “I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.'” It’s an amalgamation of music, costumes, makeup, and massive production of the highest quality. KPOP music often features story arcs revealed in chapters, often trilogies. Look at BTS’s discography. Here they used the theme of Greek Gods coming to dinner with Dionysus, with each member representing gods like Apollo, Artemis and Poseidon. BTS performs 20+ songs over 2.5 hours at every single concert. MMA is Melon Music Awards and it is unprecedented that they gave BTS this much time - but bcz they are the biggest group in the world known for going all out every single time they were accorded as much time as they needed💜
❣️This was from the annual Melon Music Awards, a Korean award show the equivalent to the BBMA’s. BTS swept the awards, thus closed the award show, though many other artists did indeed performed beforehand. The cost of the production for BTS entertainment company BigHit, was over 500K dollars, and all the in-house production team of BigHit started planning it over half a yr beforehand! Also most of the rehearsal time that BTS had was while they were touring worldwide. But they all were quite into doing this, and somehow managed to fit in the rehearsal like they did the yr before. Although all the members did a version of their solo performances live during the actual live MMA award show, the solo performances were prerecorded live with smaller audience the day before, with exception to Jimin’s solo performance, who only performed live only, without the benefit of prerecorded VCR. Especially since there was no way to have these stage sets and tank pool of water let alone have Jungkook, who was performing the dance in water get dried and change clothes beforehand! BTS did also perform a version of their solos, while the broadcasted version saw the VCR version filmed day before. The only one who performed live only without benefit of VCR being shown, for the broadcasted version, was Jimin, who shows here being the phenomeno breathingly amazing professional dancer which he was before even signing on to BTS. Also certain songs like Mikrokosmos, as well as beginning part of RM’s Persona, was performed live beforehand and also prerecorded so they could also allow for the special effects that only people who saw the broadcast on TV in South Korea or had it stream worldwide could see that version. Also the part with the live horses was filmed beforehand without an audience.
Yay finally! Boy with Love is a song about the small things they do for/with Army. I think RM wrote it after doing a massive world tour and wanted just to write about small/simple things.
Korean awards shows can last for 2/3 days for 5hrs each day! They don't give each artists that long BTS usually is the closing act with the longest chunk for obvious reasons😅 (ARMY will fill in the venue and generating traffic, improving ratings)
I was one of the lucky Army that was able to watch their last concert here in the US Permission to Dance in Las Vegas and I will give a huge shoutout to their production team, sound engineers, IT specialist and the ground and stage crew. They occupied the whole back side of the Floor section of the stadium. I took a picture of it and was amazed. They are almost 100 production staff present
You guys seem to have enjoyed this; glad the link worked. When I first saw this I said to myself "BTS ain't no damn boy band" 😅 then I fell down the rabbit hole and became army.
It’s an award show, the MMA awards lasts for almost 4hours. BTS was given the longest time slot because they swept the major awards. On the Dionysus intro, the performances were: V (w/ cirque de soleil stuff) Jin (with the trojan horse) Jimin (contemporary dance) Suga (with fire) Jungkook ( dance on water) Jhope (dance with lights) RM (with the god staff)
Think about it, could u imagine even one artist from the West trying to do a performance like this at an award show? Now they performed 5 full songs, starting with Persona, then Boy in Luv to Boy with Luv. Going into Microkosmos and finally Dionysus. However, during their individual intros, they played 7 songs of theirs, all different arrangements. And there was one more in the middle of Dionysus. So a total of 13 songs of theirs, either full or parts of their songs. The one piece of the performance I would like to explain to you is the last one. And actually, their intros. They all represented a Greek God. So I'm going to give you each one from the first one, which was V. And I'll give you each one as they were introduced. 1. V-Apollo, God of the Sun, and Twin of Artemis. 2. Jin- Athena, Goddess of Justice. At first, ARMY thought Ares, God of War, but one that doesn't fit Ares, but he Athena does. 3. Jimin-Artemis, God of the Moon. Twin to Apollo, and it also fits, V and Jimin are what they call themselves "soulmates." 4. Suga-Hephaestus, God of Fire. He was also known for forging the weapons of Olympus. And Suga is the main producer. 5. Jungkook-Poseidon, God of the Sea. Hense the Water element. 6. J Hope-Zues-God of Thunder. Again, the lighting element. Lightening and Thunder. Finally.... 7. RM-He is Dionysus himself. God of Wine and Festivals. The staff he was carrying is called a Thyrsus. It helps him harvest the grapes (songs). One last thing, the lights that came down for each one, at the end, made the shape of a crown. This has to be one of their best performances. And yes, they went last. I don't think there is an artist from east or the west that would have been able to perform after them. Thank you for your patience. I know this was a long af. But I do hope it helps u understand a little more. BTS always leaves everything they got on the stage.
Map of the soul is the album that was realised that year. Persona the song RM sang was the intro. Boy in luv was a old song from 2014 was the second one. Boy with luv was a new single in 2019 ft Hasley which was the 3rd song. Mikrokosmos was the 4th performance with the stars. It’s in the same album as boy with luv. Dionysus was the last song. Also in the same album as Mikrokosmos and boy with luv.❤ please react to there stage medley in Japan! Yes they sing in Japanese for japan concerts. Usually first song is Korean, then the rest are Japanese versions or originals.
So MMA just like MAMA are major awards shows in Asia. They last for about 4/5 hours. In Asia, the most important is the performance so they give quiet a lot of time to it, and very little commercial breaks. Here BTS got almost 40 minutes of performance, they had originally 25 min and then the artist that was going before them cancelled and they got their slot.
Rm=persona Boy in love Boy with love Mikrocosmo Dionyious (v=1st, jin=Trojan horse, jimin=is in white with contemporary dance, suga=fire, jk=water, jhope=light show(fake love),rm=Dionyious
Pre-recorded: First half of Rm-Intro persona Mikrokosmos (in preparation for their final set) The Intro of Dionysus where they performed solo- all r prerecorded except for Jimin's solo Live: Second half of Rm - Intro Persona Boy in Luv Boy with Luv Jimin's solo Full dionysus set It was the first time awards show gave an artist this long performance time for an artist. BTS have been sweeping all the gramdprizes on MMA and MAMA 2019-2021 they receuved a MAMA Platinum for their sweep for 3yrs. They r d only artists to do so. Hybe/bighit never disappoints armys to provide high quality & large scales production for BTS. They always make it a point to give that WOW FACTOR not just to fans but also to the whole kpop industry. & yes imagine the production, all the people behind it. They prepared months for everything. Their MAMA 2019 performance is also impressive. The songs the sang the same were Boy In Luv, Mikrokosmos & Dionysus. Difference: Their intro songs were 2 of their old songs. The dionysus in Mama had no solo intro performances & no dance break. And i agree. It's hard for fans to like 100% of an artist's discography. But honestly, i think there's only 1 song from BTS that i do not like. After months of skipping it i decided to delete it on my PL. 300+ BTS songs on my no-skip playlist. Im ok hearing all of them. Tons of choices depending on your mood 😅 Ps: looking forward on your actual podcast! 🔥
Well... Namjoon was live, too. Now guess which of the two made a major mistake in their "choreography"? Namjoon nearly hurt himself severly. Poor man! 😏
This award show was special. They were being recognized so they were given extra time although BTS is so big they got extra time in previous shows as well. They swept the 4 main awards. It was also supposed to be the kickoff of they world tour for their album Map of the Soul (which unfortunately got canceled due to COVID) and at the end of the tour in 2020 they were supposed to enlist. Their enlistment got delayed due to COVID. They focused on online engagement with fans and it led to their solo projects.
Dionysus is the Greek name for the god of wine and partying and Bacchus his Roman name. And you might have noticed that once each of their lights came together it formed the constellation for Dionysus. Hence, when BTS is all together, they bring the party.
@@Emm-os1qo RM has the Thyrsus, so he's Dionysus. Folks debate the others a bit, but I think it's: Jin as Athena J-Hope as Zeus V as Apollo JK as Poseidon Jimin as Artemis Suga as Hephaestus Some folks say Jin is Ares but the symbolism is more Athena's - I think they just don't like that she's a goddess. And I've seen another one for Jimin, can't remember though... Some folks think Hades for Suga because they've confused Hades with a Christian conception of hell. 😂
MMA (Melon Music Awards). The show actually is about 5 hours long in total, but I think giving BTS that long set is probably the longest set i've ever seen. But they had earned all the awards that year, they were given the longest time slot.
18:24 so true… but this is the whole reason you need an energetic “center” position in a group… jungkook is the perfect center… Jin and rm called him “the energy” of the team. A center is front and center majority of the time on stage… but luckily all the members get that center spot bc they’re all such good performers… but nobody’s energy can match jungkooks… his energy level honestly feels supernatural at times. They all give their all … every single stage… he just has some magic extra energy stored somewhere that just erupts on stage. It’s crucial bc you typically watch performances from the center… his value here is so underrated and under appreciated
I just saw your video. It was Jimin who performed the ballet/contemporary dance to "I Need You". Jimin, who for the first time in history, gained the number one spot as as the first solo Korean performer for "Like Crazy"on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Bts raises my standards so high 😂 It was four main songs But in every member's solo stage they had a song in the background V no more dream 2013 Jin danger 2014 Jimin I need you 2015 Suga fird 2016 Jungkook save me 2016-2017 Jhope fake love 2018 Rm dionysius 2019 In the last dance break with them all was N.o from 2014 And every member represents a god For example jin god of war Jungkook god of water
This is why western award shows are so vanilla compared to Asian ones. melon Music Awards is like our version of the Grammys/billboards. Imagine if u had to go after BTS
On the lyrics for Dionysus -- in Korean, "art" is 미술 "misul" and "alcohol" is 술 "sul". Dionysus, the god of wine and divine inspiration, can get you drunk on art as well as alcohol. He was also "born twice": once when his pregnant, mortal, mother Semele asked Zeus to appear to her in his full god-like form (a lightning bolt, which killed her), after which Zeus took Dionysus from her womb, sewed him into his thigh, and carried him until he was ready to be born again. The song's lyrics, especially Suga's verse, explains that BTS were born first as idols and then a second time as artists, thanks to becoming intoxicated on art.
jimin studied contemporary dance which is like modern/ballet dancing with more emotion as well as competed in hip hop dance/popping competitions as a teen. he was a top student at his art school for dance. j-hope won 1st place in a national dance competition as a teen and specializes in hip hop/popping. he learned dancing at a young age. jungkook was trained in dancing before debuting with bts and went to the u.s to study hip hop dancing with their choreographer as a teen. v learned dancing after he joined big hit as a trainee.
Honestly most ARMYs I know would rather have you stop the video to say what you wanna say (or go back a bit to read the lyrics) than just sitting there and, like you said, forgetting half the stuff you wanted to say.
And this was "just" for an award show. This is the energy they bring for their 3-hour long concerts too (I've seen it in person)! BTS are just on another level entirely 💜
you have to remember though.. this energy they pour into, is not their concert.. its an award show performances.. and they just turn an award show to a freakin' concert!! I love it so much!
When they were all doing individual performances V was first dancing to their song [ NO MORE DREAM ] JIN was next dancing to [ DANGER ] JIMIN was next dancing to [ I NEED YOU ] SUGA was next dancing to [ FIRE ] JUNGKOOK was next dancing to [ SAVE ME ] JHOPE was next dancing to [ FAKE LOVE ] RM walked on the stage to [ DIONYSUS ] JIMIN does contemporary dance and JHOPE does hip hop and is the dance leader they are the professional dancers.
'Loving your raw and authentic reaction. Its so very me the first time I saw this video. Thanks for reacting to BTS...keep going, there's so much more you need to see and discover....even younger BTS videos and performances are cute 🤭😊💜
One fun fact about the introduction to Dionysus is that, besides each member showcasing their abilities, each of them was also representing a greek god. In the order they performed, it was first V as Apollo, then Jin as Athena/Ares (it was a debate since they're both gods of war, but I've seen ppl inclined to say Athena -whose wit made her a god of war strategies- fits better due to the sharp commandment of the dancers and the Trojan horse in the choreo), then we had Jimin as Arthemis, Suga as Hephaestus, Jungkook as Poseidon, J-Hope as Zeus and RM as Dionysus himself. On another note, due to the recent events and the reveal that the members were planning on starting solo activities back in 2020, after having the Map of The Soul Tour (which would've been their biggest tour to date and obviously didn't happen due to the pandemic, making them postpone their plans until 2022), the fandom had commented that, in retrospective, this live performance was this big and epic because it was supposed to be their last one together for a while, so they wanted to close the chapter showcasing just the absolute best of them. And I mean, all their korean show performances have always been amazing, but this was just on another level entirely. And looking back, it makes sense, because in the interludes between the main songs, they played remixes of iconic songs in their discography since 2013, like reminiscing all they've done up until that point. So yeah. When I first saw this I was just speechless, like they really made this award show basically their own concert for more than half an hour, very iconic of them truly. Thanks for the reaction!
It was so nice of BTS to let an awards show be in the middle of a concert! Muscle memory! Mikrokosmos was prerecorded. 1.V 2. Jin 3. Jimin 4. Suga 5. Jungkook 6. J- Hope 7. RM This is as crazy as their concerts, only nothing is pre recorded.
Jin on the trojan horse each member did their own dance moves in the last song.yes MMA is an award show as the saying goes" BTS turns reward shows into a concert when they do live performance on award shows" thanks for your reactions
My nice today was telling the nurse who took a blood sample that she was excellent at doing this - and she was! I also served my husband blueberries with cream. Thanks for your (also) excellent content, the kindness and respect of your advice and your joy!
You are talking about the Americans and how we do things. SK is totally different than the American. Their work ethics are on point and know how to run things efficiently.

MMA is acronym for Melon Music Award. This is an award show. They gave BTS a 40mins performance time and BTS gave us this legendary performance. They took home 4 main awards after this. Imagine what the next performer felt. Hahahahhaha
So.. The theme of 2019 performance was something about... Who are you? Map of the soul... Can't be who you are today without the you of yesterday... That's why the set list, persona 2019,Boy in love 2014 and boy with love 2019, microcosmos 2019, dionysius 2019 but with an intro that went throughout thier career with each member, but also represented different gods with thier performance... War, fire, wind, water, light... So yes an only:) 40 minutes show with all the ramifications of art manifestation
27:38 Dionysus is the Greek god of wine and parties etc, his roman counterpart (after Rome took over), is Bacchus. So you were both kinda right. BTS get drunk on art, at least in this song, 💜
It is just a performance in an award show they were a guest performer of. It shows how professionals. They never downgrade. They always give their bet. You would it was their own concert.
It was crazy how many songs they crammed into this performance. Every beat during their solos was from one of their tracks, and they were revisiting their discography, starting with Boy in Luv with the schoolboy look. Honestly, at the time, this was what they anticipated to be their final MMA performance before enlistment. The plan had been to do the 2020 world tour, then take a break for military. But then lockdown happened, the world went into a holding pattern, and they weren't sure which way to go with anything after that.
They are not just singers but excellent dancers. That's why they are BTS🔥🔥🔥 by the way this is not their concert its award show thats why all those settings.
MMA = Melon Music Award. You should check MMA 2018 as well. It's also very good. Yes, if you see them behind the stage, as soon as they went back stage, all staff waiting for them with water, towel, oxygen tube, hair & make up staff ready, staff that help with costumes are ready. They don't show it on the stage but as soon as they are behind the stage you will see them breathing hard, sweating like crazy, sometimes also hurt. They are exhausted but they always try to give their best on stage. You can see this on burn the stage the series.
I would do anything for BTS to make a compilation album of all their stage mixes. Even with the normal songs being so good they still always want to show us something fresh, especially the live band material is so fun. I want it so bad
This is why a lot of ARMY'S say they turn awards shows into a BTS concerts. But if you watch the award shows from 2016 on, you will see how it gets better and bigger each year. Love your honest reactions! 👏💜
I love your reaction! Don’t worry about pausing. Your input is what makes your reaction unique. You both bring in your own personal knowledge and it is very interesting. If you get the chance MMA 2018 was also epic!
Cuando vi esto, cualquier otra presentación ya sea de una leyenda de la música o veteranos en una entrega de premios me parece insignificante al lado de BTS 2019
thank you for your reaction, I really like the way you both discuss a work, don't talk when the video is in progress, and the way you evaluate a work from various sides, thank you
Remember that this is the one of biggest award show in south korea, and bts sweep ALL GRAND PRIZES (daesangs) on MMA 2019 that are Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Giving almost 40 minutes live performance. They're truly a legend.
Lo mejor de lo mejor 💜BTS 💜👌💜💜💜🇨🇱🇨🇱
Los Reyes! 👑👑👑👑👑💜💜💜💜
True! And they swept the MAMAs also!!!
All? Wasn't it 3/4? They didn't win record of the year if I'm not wrong
This is undoubtedly a legendary performance
@@ivythedazzlinggirl2289 all grand prizes both at mama and mma
Although them attempting to lip sync is pretty entertaining to watch. Actually, I'd say that's about the only thing they aren't good at.
Wasn't the BigHit budget, like, $500,000?
You nice! Keep going! 💜
@@ruthfischer7615 OMG I somehow had never figured out why they cut to txt right then! I've wondered forever 🤣
.
Honestly they ruined for me watching the grammys, AMAs and any of our awards shows...
They elevated my standards in performance a bit too high😂
The Grammys could NEVER!!
Tbh, since watching kpop performances at mama and mma, I get easily bored with performances on US award shows now.
Same here 😂
same, now i am calling grammy - a tiny room award ceremony for the club members. funny, when i strart to write the word grammy, i typed granny 🤣
me, es que los premios coreanos están a otro nivel, literal en todo. Las performances cuentan una historia, pero me gustaria ver una combinacion de 1er, 2da, 3era y 4ta generacion, siento que sería EPICO xd
the theme of the album released in 2019 was somewhat connected to the greek mythology. before the Dionysus performance itself every member had a solo performance with some of remixes of their biggest songs over their seven years, each member represent a god or goddess
• V (Taehyung), No More Dream Remix (2013), Apolo, god of the sun
• Jin, Danger (2014). Athena, goddess of wisdom and war, or Ares, god of war. stage point to the battle of Troy and the Trojan Horse
• Jimin, I Need U (2015), Artemis, goddess of the moon and twin to Apollo
• Suga, Fire (2016) Hephaestus, god of fire, or Hades, god of the underworld
• Jungkook, Save Me (2016), Poseidon, god of the sea
• J-Hope, Fake Love (2018), Zeus, god of lightning and thunder
• RM, Dionysus (2019), Dionysus himself, god of wine and art, complete with thyrsus - wooden wand entwined with ivy and grape leaves, a symbol of prosperity, fertility, hedonism, and pleasure/enjoyment in general, it's compared to a mic. Dionysus is a God often called Eleutherios which means the liberator, because his wine, music and ecstatic dance freed his followers from self-consciousness and the restraints of society. As BTS compare wine to the art in the song, they are Dionysus of music industry, the gods of music and dance, who gift their listeners freedom, food for thought and a helping hand to be strong and be better
seven lights that were hanging down formed the Corona Borealis - the constellation that represents the crown of Ariadne, given to her before the marriage to Dionysus, made by the god Hephaestus
erume Excellent explanation!
I was hoping someone posted this info so I wouldn’t have to type it! 😂😂
@@timothywest1183 LOL same. I knew the gods for awhile after seeing this, but I remember finding out about the Corona from a comment like this later on. My jaw hit the floor. I shouldn't have been surprised - everything means something with the guys - but it just blew me away.
Damn, I haven't seen it laid out in such detail. Awesome job 👏🏽
and in the middle of the Dionysus performance the dance break with "N.O."
“The Grammys are the best award show in music.”
LOL!!! I can’t even type that with a straight face.
BTS MMA 2019 is the greatest award show performance of all time. They basically gave BTS enough time to do whatever they wanted.
MMA- Melon Music Awards
MAMA- MNet Asian Music Awards
Just in case, these are 2 different major award shows, and BTS at both shows swept all 4 GRAND PRIZES... Thanks for the reactions...💜💜💜
Yess
In 2019 - 2021
And they where the first and only ever did this.
Thank you for clarifying all this. V important
It’s an award show?!?! How do you watch another award show after that. I stopped watching award shows in the states years ago. I have seen this I don’t know how many times. Hope you two enjoyed it. 💜
We certainly did my friend! Thank you for watching us watch it!
Really that is chaotic. Must crazy backstage all those people trying to handle it.
31:12 it’s jimin
Seriously, it's better if you ignore those who complain about you pausing the video to talk and discuss things. You are doing a reaction video and whoever clicks on the thumbnail already knows that you guys are going to react and say something about what you're watching. Personally, I find it more annoying if the reactors talk over the video to the point where I can barely hear what they're saying. You guys are already doing great, we're here to hear your views about the performance. Feel free to hit pause whenever you want to talk.
Well thank you for the lovely comment. We appreciate you taking to time to watch us enjoy!
Thank you! We were having a hard time remembering the deep dive we watched a couple months back to know who had the previous experience.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But yes - absolutly: Hobi signed a contract first.
As for the last part, the company Big Hit, itself, was known as
"Jung Ho-seok's company",
not sure about people calling the group that specifically, but I think I have heard of something similar when some were refering to the group, atleast in the beginning.
But they referred to the company that way because Hobi was already quite well known, and accomplished, as a dancer, even before his debut.
And also, I like the plaque of appreciation that Jimin got from the Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society. It looked really cool. I like how they designed it.
@@sinevins It's always a question of who you "talk" to:
Do they know?
I just wanted to clarify:
THIs is NOT an attack.
They all introduced themselves with remixes - well the first 6:
Taehyung/V with "No More Dream"
Jin with "Danger"
Jimin with "I Need U"
Yoongi/Suga with "Fire"
JK with "Save Me"
Hoseok/J-Hope with "Fake Love"
Namjoon/RM came in with Dionysus (in the song the dance break was to "N.O.")
Jimin and Namjoon were the only one live on TV (the rest did perform but not the way the livestream saw).
I think they plan to enlist in 2021 because 2020 is the year they supposed to be busy doing world tour.
And to think this was an award show :) Their stages are always insane - you must watch MMA 2018 also
I hope you can do Jhope’s Lollapalooza set. It was epic! And he was so versatile. Thanks guys
yes!
The song in translation is " Poems for little things"...😊
Korean awards shows can last for 2/3 days for 5hrs each day! They don't give each artists that long BTS usually is the closing act with the longest chunk for obvious reasons😅 (ARMY will fill in the venue and generating traffic, improving ratings)
I just can’t get tired of watching MMA 2019. I can’t even count how many times. I don’t mind, at all, watching it again with Aich and Joel. Borahae 💜
Jin was making those low notes and then singing the high note right after.
It is an award show lol
It's an award show. And of course they give 45 minutes to BTS. IT'S BTS. 😂
Don't worry about pausing! Army likes to hear you discuss your thoughts :)
I actually encourage pausing so they aren't missing anything 😭😭
Jimin dance so beautiful 💜💜💜💜
It’s an award show, the MMA awards lasts for almost 4hours. BTS was given the longest time slot because they swept the major awards.
On the Dionysus intro, the performances were:
V (w/ cirque de soleil stuff)
Jin (with the trojan horse)
Jimin (contemporary dance)
Suga (with fire)
Jungkook ( dance on water)
Jhope (dance with lights)
RM (with the god staff)
Twin to Apollo, and it also fits, V and Jimin are what they call themselves "soulmates."
Really? Who cancelled? I mean it must've not been a last a minute cancellation because this performance took 3 months to plan.
Those Award Shows may also go over 2 days.
Yeah, but they swept all the awards that time, and it was worth it. Theirs was the longest and biggest performance there🎉💜💜💜

Tons of choices depending on your mood 😅

You'll never find any other artist with such incredible stage production and performances. they go all out for each and every performance.
Remember this is an award show✨💜
This award show was special.
Also every member represents a different Greek God. I don’t remember who represented who but yeah…
@@amberpearce710 I never noticed that but now that you mention it, I can see it. Hah, is RM Zeus then since he's the leader?
@@Emm-os1qo RM has the Thyrsus, so he's Dionysus. Folks debate the others a bit, but I think it's:
Jin as Athena
J-Hope as Zeus
V as Apollo
JK as Poseidon
Jimin as Artemis
Suga as Hephaestus
Some folks say Jin is Ares but the symbolism is more Athena's - I think they just don't like that she's a goddess.
A BTS concert can run almost three hours. Never an opening act.
I miss the boys.. The amount of hard work and love for creating an art.. Thank you for your reaction it's so entertaining 👏☺️
Aahhh,, i love it everytime somebody react to bts mama 2019
This is epic and legend 💜💜
I just saw your video. It was Jimin who performed the ballet/contemporary dance to "I Need You". Jimin, who for the first time in history, gained the number one spot as as the first solo Korean performer for "Like Crazy"on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Bts raises my standards so high 😂
It was four main songs
But in every member's solo stage they had a song in the background
V no more dream 2013
Jin danger 2014
Jimin I need you 2015
Suga fird 2016
Jungkook save me 2016-2017
Jhope fake love 2018
Rm dionysius 2019
In the last dance break with them all was N.o from 2014
And every member represents a god
For example jin god of war
Jungkook god of water
God of the Sea... that is a little different.
But yes... they represented Greek Gods. That was so cool!
Love bts army 65years Spain 🇪🇦
And this was "just" for an award show. This is the energy they bring for their 3-hour long concerts too (I've seen it in person)! BTS are just on another level entirely 💜
The MMA is the MelOn Music Awards this is literally a 6 hour award show. 😂 worth it but oh man is it long. And MelOn is a music chart in Korea
you have to remember though.. this energy they pour into, is not their concert.. its an award show performances.. and they just turn an award show to a freakin' concert!! I love it so much!
Their Concerts are Epic!!!
The full award show is like 3-4 hours. BTS’s set was almost 40 minutes.
MMA = Melon Music Awards. BTS happened to be the artists that did the last performance of the awards show 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
When they were all doing individual performances
V was first dancing to their song [ NO MORE DREAM ]
JIN was next dancing to [ DANGER ]
JIMIN was next dancing to [ I NEED YOU ]
SUGA was next dancing to [ FIRE ]
JUNGKOOK was next dancing to [ SAVE ME ]
JHOPE was next dancing to [ FAKE LOVE ]
RM walked on the stage to [ DIONYSUS ]
JIMIN does contemporary dance and JHOPE does hip hop and is the dance leader they are the professional dancers.
It is a long show. Melon Music Awards. We watched one live, and we streamed it. 6 hrs long.
This performance was insane
It was so nice of BTS to let an awards show be in the middle of a concert!
Muscle memory!
Mikrokosmos was prerecorded.
1.V
2. Jin
3. Jimin
4. Suga
5. Jungkook
6. J- Hope
7. RM
This is as crazy as their concerts, only nothing is pre recorded.
I must note how hilarious it is that the CC on your video called RM "Obama."
What hahaha!!! thats crazyness. I tell sometimes the stuff that AI must put makes me think its messing with all of us!
Бтс лучшие❤🔥💣
Jin on the trojan horse each member did their own dance moves in the last song.yes MMA is an award show as the saying goes" BTS turns reward shows into a concert when they do live performance on award shows" thanks for your reactions
My nice today was telling the nurse who took a blood sample that she was excellent at doing this - and she was! I also served my husband blueberries with cream. Thanks for your (also) excellent content, the kindness and respect of your advice and your joy!
You are talking about the Americans and how we do things. SK is totally different than the American. Their work ethics are on point and know how to run things efficiently.
I agree! I’m biased because I’m from S Korea 😊
@@c.arnold3405 Even BTS was shocked when they filmed Black Swan in the State where workers clocked out early.
Songlist:

Map of the soul is their albums
Una maravilla que explosión auténticos
27:38 Dionysus is the Greek god of wine and parties etc, his roman counterpart (after Rome took over), is Bacchus. So you were both kinda right. BTS get drunk on art, at least in this song, 💜
I love that wall. Especially the color. I just love this performance. Tks guys. 💜
It is just a performance in an award show they were a guest performer of. It shows how professionals. They never downgrade. They always give their bet. You would it was their own concert.
No, you got it. Dionysus is the Greek God of Wine, Bacchus is the Roman version of Dionysus. And two people did dance before BTS. Jimin and J-Hope
Thank you so much for this. It was hard to remember something i studied what seemed like forever ago!
@@MixItUpPodcast I love Mythology, so no problem. ☺️
46:51 RM was last. V was first. Jin arrived on the horse. Jimin was before Suga, and Jungkook was after. J-Hope was before RM.
I feel like a wrote a school test question, and it's going to ask something like who was fourth. 😅
The member who does the performance in 31:10 is Jimin, he is a one of the main dancers in the group and also he does contemporary dance
MMA is a music award show, so BTS getting near 40min is a BIG thing! Imagine all the other artists gerring only a 10min slot 😊
It's really hard to believe that this is a performance at an award show. They went all out for this one.
They are not just singers but excellent dancers. That's why they are BTS🔥🔥🔥 by the way this is not their concert its award show thats why all those settings.
MMA = Melon Music Award.
That was Jimin doing the modern dancing in the all white. He is known as the King of Kpop Dancers.
They worked 3 months to perfect this !!
It shows. That performance was intricate and detailed!
This is why a lot of ARMY'S say they turn awards shows into a BTS concerts. But if you watch the award shows from 2016 on, you will see how it gets better and bigger each year. Love your honest reactions! 👏💜
0:21 The wall is so *cool though???? Like damn
49:12 Every time you mimic backstage and other stuff it's so funny djjdjdi
I love your reaction! Don’t worry about pausing. Your input is what makes your reaction unique. You both bring in your own personal knowledge and it is very interesting. If you get the chance MMA 2018 was also epic!
You should pause as much as you want - it is your channel. Great reaction and I love watching this. It is fun seeing the different reactions.
Love your new setup - well done guys!!
Cuando vi esto, cualquier otra presentación ya sea de una leyenda de la música o veteranos en una entrega de premios me parece insignificante al lado de BTS 2019
Lol enjoyed your take on the guys and this presentation. When you are up for several huge awards you give a great show
The dance practice for Dionysus is fucking wild since you see it all at once.
thank you for your reaction, I really like the way you both discuss a work, don't talk when the video is in progress, and the way you evaluate a work from various sides, thank you
