- Dee Dee Allen (three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep) and Barry Glickman (Tony Award winnerJames Corden) are New York City stage stars with a crisis on their hands: their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers. After watching this trailer, I went ahead to watch the bootleg of the musical (I loved it!) and OH MY GOD this movie looks SO ACCURATE to the actual musical. The celebration of ELEANOR, tambourines in "Love Thy Neighbor", Emma with the guitar, the choreography in "Zazz", the MONSTER TRUCK RALLY, all the dialogues, and many more are super accurate! It's the stage musical but grander and more cinematic!
I think this one's gonna be an amazing adaptation!

No matter how many times I have watched this trailer (which is in the hundreds by now), I still get chills. It looks perfect.
I think this is the best movie trailer I have ever watched. I have cried every time I’ve watched the trailer (over five times in the last 24 hours) and I just keep coming back to it. The cast looks incredible. Can’t wait.

Same. I’m honestly sick of Hollywood or Saturday Night Live cast members in musicals. Not to mention it’s the same faces that we’ve seen in fake film musicals the last 10 years. I wanna see professional Broadway (or West End) singers with powerful and well trained full vocals with the range designed for these roles. I felt the same about Hairspray, Into the Woods, Cats, Phantom, and Jekyll & Hyde with David Hasselhoff (2001). If it’s the first time watching/listening to any of these, and you’re a laymen, then you likely won’t care, and that’s fine. But that would be like putting Ariana Grande in a Wicked movie, just to watch her eat her words. It would be no different than one of her concerts. Idc if she used to sing show tunes, she can’t anymore. 😂 She’s no Idina Menzel, that’s for sure. Musical films in recent years haven’t had the highest ratings for a reason (with the exception of a few that were recorded live on stage). Leave musical films to professional Broadway singers.

That's a very poorly done trailer in mi opinion... Never heard of this movie before today and watching this I didn't understood what it was about at all, and certainly didn't make me want to see the movie, had to read the comments to get the plot because this is just flashing celebrities and costumes without actually explaining a thing, it looks pretentious and acts like I should already know what it's about. So no, didn't feel epic to me at all.

Why do people hate on James Corden so much? I think he's great in musicals.
I think James popularity just does not equate to success in films. He is a good singer but the movies he’s in did not do well in sales like Emoji, Cats, into the woods (expected to earn more but underwhelms at the box office). That’s why people are not really keen on him despite a good singer and actor. IMHO

This looks incredible. The show came out on Broadway the time that I came out as bisexual. This show means a lot to me and this movie will definitely bring it justice.

This looks like it’ll be a great adaptation but the OG broadway cast will always have that special place in my heart.
I never been to NYC. But I would have loved to see Beth Leavel and Christopher Sieber
