Could be worse, at least you're not having to live in the van while the suspension is in bits and can also afford the repair! Keep up the videos, anything with such idiosyncratic windscreen wipers deserves love and appreciation.
Oh the value of having a spare wheel & tyre, most moderns don't now - just a can of juice, which seeing how your tyre had come off its rim, would have been as much use as a chocolate teapot. Good to see you are getting the old leaf springs re-built, that is the beauty of older vehicles, parts can be repaired instead of being replaced, especially with such hefty items as well! Thanks for sharing, watching progress with interest.
Great videos Alex, still love them/look forward to them more than anything else that I'm subscribed to, you're a true modern day Nomad - keep them coming 😁👍.
With the right vehicle, every journey can become an epic voyage… I don’t think you overloaded the van - just the suspension having aged and failed. Not sure if those airbags are helping in the geometry of the suspension, it might be worth asking the guys working on the leaf springs if they can upgrade them while they have them, perhaps? Maybe an extra ‘helper’ leaf. My truck has one of those on it from new as it was an option back then. 👍🏻
I used to pootle around campus in a bright yellow Peugeot 205 - not quite vintage, but bordered on retro back then! Enjoy Pembrokeshire, and get HubNut to come and check out the van once you get those leaf springs back on, he's based somewhere up in Ceredigion so not far from where you'll be based for the winter@@forwardtothepast2411
you can never get bored with all those van challenges that are presented to you, keep it up cant wait for the next installment
Glad my favourite van duo made it safely.....
Despite rubber & spring failure..

"That tyre let me down" - at least it was the only problem 😋

My old Talbot has helper springs, they definitely do help 👍
Alex, if the shackle pivot bolt can't swivel it will eventually break the spring at that point. Rog
Yes this seems to be it, once I removed the pins I could see it was seized, I will be servicing all 4 springs soon
This is completely off topic, but... do I remember you playing bagpipes in or around Avon halls at the University of Worcester 12 years ago?!...
absolutely, those were some good times

Hi
Are you getting two new springs?
I will be
SLIME!!!
Nah Alex. Funnels are for people who lack the sophistication to have moustaches.
Really letting your what down?
It was a pun/joke. The air left the tire, letting it go down, letting him down in the process 👍
