St Claire is ok you should really fish Lake Erie out of Buffalo for smallmouth this fall or next spring. Heard there’s a guy up there that can put you on.
Finally got around to watching this video. This trip was sick, I hope to do a similar trip soon. I think the reason you were only catching small fish was because the big fish are normally deeper in the summer. Water temps are super important for pike and the bigger they are the cooler water they need. The 40+ inchers will spend their summers around cold springs or deep water living pelagic. You should target deep weeds in 20-30 feet of water and toss or troll big lures on heavy baitcasting gear. I recommend the piscifun alijoz 300, a lot of musky guys have started using it, decent inexpensive reel. Good luck out there!
Thanks man! I tried offshore for a while out there, just couldn’t get bit. The smaller lake I fished for pike wasn’t charted so I felt like I was fishing blind. Would have been nice to know where any ledges or weedlines were. I’d love to go back and try some other lakes in the area though. I know they all have huge pike, just definitely need to put some more time in offshore
Thank you so much! I actually already have a Maine Arctic char video on my channel! I also have two other Maine char videos on the way currently, one should be up soon!
Hope you all enjoyed the video! Where should I go next?
Great vid, you should definitely try to fish lake st Clair in Michigan for smallmouth and musky!
Oooo that would be awesome! St. Clair is for sure on my bucket list!
Nice, it’s a great fishery
