- The US Supreme Court will hear arguments this morning that center around whether presidents are above the law. Former President Donald Trump claims he has absolute immunity from prosecution for actions he took as president, including those related to the January 6th insurrection as Congress prepared to certify Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election. Lower courts have rejected Trump's argument.

@@ClumsyCars DC Circut ruled against Trump, the Supreme Court had absolute power to refuse to hear the case. When they did rule to hear it, they could have expedited the ruling, instead they delayed the hearing, and after hearing the arguments, my guess is they will delay their decision.

It was a matter of certainty that SCOTUS would take this case. It's probably the most important legal question posed to the court in at least 100 years that cuts to the core of how the country functions and potentially redefines the power of the highest office we have. This is literally checks and balances in action. Them not taking the case would have been a gross abdication of responsibility

This trial has nothing to do with granting him absolute immunity. It has to do with wether or not a president can be held liable for any crimes committed under their administration. And the answer is already yes. But *only* after said president has been impeached and convicted of the crime in question. The alleged crime in this case being “incitement of an insurrection of the United States of America” for which he was already found to be not guilty of.
