When Metallica plays Orion live, the gods in heaven all fall silent to let Cliff hear his masterpiece being carried on by these wonderful musicians. Rest in peace Cliff Burton, you will be missed forever.
I will one day make a Metallica biopic to honor the memory of Clifford Lee Burton. 24 years old is far too young he is eternally soaring Heaven and whenever we play Orion it will be a way to honor his memory and to play it on his birthday. He is now part of Heaven and the Orion Belt.
Cliff wrote this and much of Puppets after the Mustaine shine wore off after the first 2 albums. This is my favorite band because they evolved so much but continuously and always successfully (including St. Anger and it's nu-metal/hardcore vibes).
The Left and the Extreme Right are both as stupid Check out the wikipedia page, I heard it from some interview James had. Basically, Lars had a slot in Metal Massacre compilation album, and they got Lloyd Grant to play lead guitar for the first recording of Hit the Lights with James playing bass.
Each bassist was a unique chapter of the band and each one was great and really fit the band amd grew with the band. The Newsted chapter is my favoritr because I think Black album and Load were some of the best composed work they ever did and Jason had AWESOME stage presence plus his backing vocals were amazing. When I seen MetallicA James actually let Jason sing a lot and it was so fuckin cool.
Perfect song to end this beautiful film. "Orion" is not only one of my favorite songs from Metallica, but also of all time. It's truly perfect. I still get shivers from hearing it every damn time.
The peak of the movie experience. When I was watching this and saw that nobody was leaving until the end of the song, I cried. Just amazing. Cant find words
Gregory Davis he had his wish to do another side project and they were complaining about this, Im sure u know It, but Im sure he had a great importance for what hás became the band in history of music
Just beautiful. I'm so glad they did this. It's like an updated, serious tribute to the man and the memories not forgotten. Very cool setting. Recorded clean and proffesionally. Laying it down in somber respect.
There was something about the way cliff played all the songs. If you listened closely, you could not hear the transitions between notes, the way he played it was amazing, as smooth as butter. Robert does a great job though.
Dunno why everyone hates Lars. No Lars = No Metallica. And the reason most of their songs are so famous is because of his impact when he hit the drums, he traded speed for power, like he REALLY fucking stands on that kick drum pedal to get the emphasis of the riff across.
He's great when it comes to musical arrangements. Him and James, but him, mainly, are the masterminds behind the arrangements and final decisions. Without him the songs wouldn't be what they are. He owns Metallica and he's a great business man. People hate him because he's lazy, messes up live way too often and he's not very creative when it comes to improvisation, especially his ridiculous fills. I really like him, because he doesn't give a shit about what anyone thinks.
lars is the reason metallica has sucked for 20 years. Lars in the words of dave mustaine was "the worst drummer he ever met". The guy has 1 million dollars and plays a high school drum kit. Guy is a cutthroat, a liar, and overall a piece of shit.
The reason I personally believe it was the soul of Cliff Burton in the mystery bag is because when they break in the song and come in with the 2nd part, is when we see Tripp the roadie walk to his seat. Cliff Burton is infamous for his bass work in that part.
I know they were recording for film here, but this is the absolute best version ever, shits on point sounds killer! kirks bits were awesome! the whole sound was just bad ass my fav version of this hands down
+Buck Thrusthorn couldn't you just imagine an older gray haired cliff playing that bass melody instead of Robert. Couldn't you imagine a 54 year old Cliff Burton playing there. It's so sad that there isn't.
Production on this version is badass. I had to download the song in my phone, and used it everytime I tested headphone or earphone in a store. The crunchiness, bass, and groove are so perfectly sound. And metal.
Mr. Smith an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth.youre country has been very unfair to me and I will be the same towrds them . I guess thats fair enough.and just to let you know if a rich history should make people treat others like shit, I and my country men should be the most proudest people in the world and treat others like shit cause I'm from persia and my land has a 8000 year old history.but I have never and will be like hungarians towards anyone.cause we have not done shit for the history we have.it's like being proud of your blonde hair or blue eyes.there is nothing to be proud of cause we have done nothing to achieve them .it's the same story about you guys.don't be proud of something you haven't worked so hard for .adios asshole.
I may not be as old as alot of fans from the beginning, but I do know that Cliff was the best bassist in the world, and one of the best composers ever. Jason was good, but he wasn't Cliff. You saw Papa Het change. He lost his brother, his best friend, and he just kinda changed. Yes bands fight and argue, but Cliff was probably the glue that held them together, I remember the first time I heard orion, it blew my mind. So I closed my eyes and let Orion take me on this roller coaster of emotions. Cliff, I may not of got to be a fan from the beginning with Kill'em All, Ride the lightning, and Master of Puppets, but I'm glad I started to listen to MetallicA after And Justice came out, I was born in 87, thanks to my dad, and I've been a big fan ever since, thank you for your amazing talent, and musicianship. Can't wait to meet you on the other side
First Cliff Burton and now Lemmy Kilmister. Dead physically but their rock and roll and fans are their immortality. This means that Heaven is gonna get the best rock concerts for these immortals and through that immortality will become the greatest echo that will soar across the universe. Both Cliff and Lemmy are now one with the universe because God got them to reach eternity and absolute immortality.
This song must be so emotional to play live without Cliff being able to jam with them. Hell it's making me tear up thinking about what it would be like if he was still around jamming all the new music that he helped created even though he had passed away. I love to think he is the one guiding Robert Trujillo's hand as he strums this masterpiece each every time they play it. It's like his call from heaven and he shows up the millisecond they start playing. Of course invisible to the fans and the band members but there in spirit. Which is why the emotions come out.
I like to imagine that this is what happens after every show. They all just sit back on a stage in an emptu arena jamin, and James just chillin out in sun glasses.
This song is the reason why I regard Cliff as not only one of the best bass players but one of the best musicians of all time. His knowledge of music and composition was next to none. He didn't just play/write with skills but in he put emotion into his playing/writing which seems to be lacking in today's music.
to be fair, it's not really aliens descending on earth for the first time. It's the ending credits of a movie. It's impossible for this video to be that popular, considering how big their discography is and how many versions of every songs there are on youtube.
Kirk has cool guitar designs. When i them in concert at soldier field i was fortunate enough to see him use the white zombie guitar and his Boris Karloff one
Who else out there in this lovely amazing planet sits awake into the early morning hours watching and listening to Metallica? That bass jam is tattoo worthy. Metallica is badss 🎸 🎱🔥😈😎💃👏🐍⚡🔫🎵🎶🎤🏁🎸🍻🍺🗽🇺🇸
When Rob joined, I was so happy. I was a huge fan of infectious grooves, Suicidal Tendencies. He fits the pocket perfectly, and since Cliff was a finger player too, fits right in.
Leo Melnikov so much "sucking " yet... still... here you are. Like all the haters: YOU HAVE NO BALLS!!! I will now leave you with this thought: Imagine you have a career spanning over 30 years were you played all over the globe, your records sold more than 100 MILLION copies, you're inducted in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame, cheered by your peers and in your fifties your shows are still sold out, helping you maintain a lifestyle most can only dream of. Now look at your real life!!! I guess even you (if you had any BALLS, that is...) would now say: Yeah... It is I... that suck!!
Leo Melnikov dude I play guitar for more than 20 years and also have ears just like you. I'm just so happy they are still around and still making music, still being relevant (at least in my life), it seems just so narrow minded that some anonymous looser come on the comments section saying "he missed a cymbal" SO FUCKING WHAT??? Are you really listening to Metallica just to find mistakes?? Dude why don't you listen to techno music. I guarantee you won't find one. You say Lars is ungrateful??? How about you?? After all the good times you had listening to Metallica from the 80's and 90's you are all upset because the man misses double bass?? Isn't that ungrateful??? Fuck man, I just wish I could get all the haters like you and forbid them to listen to Metallica forever. Read...My...Words: YOU'RE NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leo Melnikov there is no point in talking to you. We speak different languages. I honestly just wish I could make an hater realize how ridiculous that is, but that's just like asking a dog to be a cat. I realize that now. I should just do what Metallica themselves do which is not giving a crap and just enjoy the music. Peace brother
James hetfield playing orion wearing sunglasses is the most American thing I have seen today.
It made America great again all by itself lol
Badass🎶

The best part of the whole movie.

Amen to that! :))

wow, this comment is simply beautiful.
@@lancegallardo3437 Thank you man means a lot
I had the privilege of hearing it live in New Orleans in 2012 with my 10 year old daughter on my shoulders. Absolutely amazing experience
This version of Orion is by far my favorite. Can absolutely hear their emotion in playing.
A song so utterly amazing it doesn't need words.
Agree 🤝
Exactly, faster tempo in drums, more powerful, insane bass. The best version
Cliff was his best friend, James can never get over his passing, you just learn to live with it. So painful!
What a masterpiece of a song it’s what makes Master of puppets such a masterpiece of an Album .
James is always full of emotion when he plays this song. All in honor of Cliff.
I think James is wearing the sunglasses to hide his tears if he does start to tear up
He has a tattoo of a bass line in orion
All yall need to get out and get some sun on you, tell me from start to end where is james hetfield is emotional?
Cliff wrote this and much of Puppets after the Mustaine shine wore off after the first 2 albums. This is my favorite band because they evolved so much but continuously and always successfully (including St. Anger and it's nu-metal/hardcore vibes).
Now I get the significance of James wearing the shades during this performance
Just like Ozzy Osbourne and the guitarists, Metallica has been so lucky to have truly skilled bassists
Amrick Dhillon and Guitarists! Hetfield, Hammet and Mustaine!!!!!
Trever P Hetfield was the first bassist for the band, you know :)
chupasaurus source?

Bass solo - Films everything but Trujillo actually playing.
Sano elä muuta...
They miss Cliff.
While Trujillo is amazing at what he does, He isn't cliff and more than anything this is song
yeah they picked the right guy that's for sure he's just as skilled as cliff and newstead was
Jajajajaja yeah, also I think that showing their names during the solo was worst desition ever😅

Tiger Blood 1978 Robert Tullijio played in 2 other bands one of them was called suicidal tenthnies and the other was the infectious grooves
IceAge Destroyer TIAD and he also was in ozzy Osbornes band

this song was s tribute to cliff

this is soooo fucking awesome
Big respect to Rob, been doing a perfect job all these years with Metallica!

Awesome song and this Band is the Kings Of Metal!!!
the name 'METALLICA' came from Lars.
They actually stole the name from some guy who wanted to make a fanzine.
lars is the reason metallica has sucked for 20 years. Lars in the words of dave mustaine was "the worst drummer he ever met". The guy has 1 million dollars and plays a high school drum kit. Guy is a cutthroat, a liar, and overall a piece of shit.

This is the ultimate call out to Cliff, they brought Cliff with them for this show
They do to every show
Robert Trujillo Kicks Ass Nuff Said !!!!
Jason was better. He was just never allowed to show it because Lars and James didn't want him to have any writing credit.
I loved how Jason played, but he always looked like he had to poop.
That was Jason's rocker face.
I think Robert Would give Cliff a run for his money that dude can shred the bass
