Probably your best bet work-wise is between Knoxville and Chattanooga if you want to work and live in TN… But, I implore you to wait another two years-the economy is not healthy and they have been propping it up in a big way. I bought my house at the bottom of the last recession-it could be a huge improvement in your future if you wait-everything in life is cyclical and that include housing prices. Sorry about having to sell the XR, I don’t know that I would for how little it would bring.
Cloudcroft is great for riding! There are some nice roads in Southern NM & Arizona. We spent a ton of time in those areas when we lived in El Paso. Thanks for sharing your videos. Ride safe!
Thank you for your service sir!, Now just live in Tennessee! I've missed you at the gap! You did have me in a video and called me the real hero! I was warning 18 wheeler that you and someone else were , let's just say you were playing hard! I'm Will Rays dad! Almost 7 years ago you met him on his 250 kawasaki SM . You just brought the new drz SM. Remember the little kid you named.....getting schooled on the dragon by a 16 year old?? !!!that helped launch his racing career! Message me next time yr here! You have class in all yr videos! Can't say that much with the guy you were with that day! Not cool or a professional rider! Anyway good luck on yr decision where to live! 129 gap and the skyway are all I ever ride !
While you contemplate your next move, take a look at Dave Ramsey’s Seven Baby Steps. It may help you secure the future you’re looking for. I’ve always enjoyed your videos.
Crap! Ever since I first saw you on RUclips, you were riding the mighty XR. Hate to see it go. I totally get the reasoning. I've been there too... You'll have another in the future no doubt. Thanks for sharing!
Man, CR without the XR just seems wrong. But I understand that you need to make the right short term decision and you can always get another one. I’m on my first tour with my XR and I’m now wondering why I have an S1000RR too. I love the RR when I ride it but the XR just feels like a hand in a glove fit for just about everything. I test ride an M1000XR and it is perfect. Nothing I would change other than the price and that it does not have hard luggage. It’s a sports tourer that can’t take hard luggage which is crazy. Having said that, I’d be paranoid to leave it anyway at that price.. Anyhow, best of luck with the move and look forward to see you blast around your new home twisties….
Take your time man, good luck moving. Maybe ask some locals in the area you want to move to, sometimes they got the connections to make stuff happen if they like you :)
Happiness is the key in life brother. This new chapter sounds like you are ready and excited for and that's priceless within itself. We'll wishes for the move and can't wait to see where you are going. East Tennessee and western north carolina are top notch choices. Be safe my man
+1 for TN. We packed our family up and moved from San Antonio, TX to outside Nashville (east) and the roads out here are straight up amazing. Coming from TX, I found that the drivers out here (for the most part) are very courteous of motorcyclist, though ppl in TN are generally a lot friendlier. Not only is insurance cheaper out here as previously mentioned, but property taxes are absurdly low as well. Best of luck on your upcoming move and life changes!
Fellow Cuban and xr rider here! I'm in the middle of packing the family up from DFW area and moving to cloudcroft! 🍻 to better riding, on and off-road!!
Fellow XR rider here, I love it. I'm just now 50, it is the perfect bike. And Thank You for your service, especially this weekend! IMO this is the worst time possible to get a mortgage/home. Everything is out of control expensive but the "good" news is it is being done on purpose. Which means a lot can be undone should we correct course in going into 2025. The other good news is if we don't, mortgage rates will be the least of our problems. God Bless America, be safe. 🇺🇸
I’m going through this dilemma. Moved away from my hometown for more opportunities but the cost of living is making it non-viable to keep going. Given myself another 12 months to see where it goes.
Check out Greenville, SC, up and coming market, still affordable and not far from the mountains of western NC and eastern TN. It’s definitely on my radar as well.
Man I am in the same predicament. I live in Florida but I really want to move near the mountains to be near good riding roads. Houses have gotten really expensive around the Smoky Mountains which is unfortunate. We’ll make it happen at some point though!
The mountains are amazing. I ride the mountains from Estes Park to Salida. I think im gonna move to Georgia. Specifically Savannah. I would love to live in Hawaii but it’s so expensive for everything.
Came for the XR, stayed for the XR !! Sad if you want to sell it 😭 but I understand. Looking forward for when you are back with an XR !!! M XR would also be fine and make me watch your videos again in future 😎🤙🏼
I've recently lived in Northern VA and just south of Nashville TN. I moved back home to So Cal 8 months ago to care for my aging parents. But when it's time to move, I'm headed straight back to TN. No state income tax and much cheaper to live than VA in my experience. VA has that BS personal property tax on your vehicles which gets expensive, and higher property tax. Also, as a longtime insurance agent licensed in every state, I can tell you insurance is cheaper in TN for both home and auto. Good luck with your move and stay safe. Peace
Good luck my man. I currently live in San Antonio...retired Air Force and I am also considering a big move sometime within the next coupleofyears. I'm sure everything will work our for you and your family
One of the toughest part of this decision was leaving the RideSmart team behind, I feel like I wasn't able to help out like I wanted to and last year's rotation to Europe was super inopportune. I'll be forever grateful for your help and will miss the track days with you guys a bunch.
oh man, yeah, on the one hand happy you'll be around great riding roads, on the other, selling the xr is probably not the best feeling, but such is life. It is always interesting and awesome though when you buy the same bike several times, you know its the right bike for you! (I had a similar experience with the ktm superduke)
At the end of the day, it will all work out and hopefully you’re in a place that you’ll enjoy your wife will enjoy and you’ll get some good riding in. Here for you if you need me, we are north Georgia, my wife and I love it up here. Look us up, be safe.
Wishing you all the best with wherever your new home is and with your career change. I am turning 70 at the end of the month and am really enjoying riding my GS here in northern New Mexico. Working on finding a good balance between work, play, friends, church and family. Looking forward to hearing how things turn out for you. Thank you so much for your excellent videos and commentary...saludos desde Santa Fe...
All the best for the future CR 👍🏻 I don't know if you'd consider it, but because you're a decent guy and a more than decent rider, I'm pretty sure many of us who follow you would chip in to contribute to an m1000xr - what do the rest of you think ?
Thanks Nick, appreciate the sentiment, but I couldn't. I'll just have to devote more time to making better videos and maybe grow the channel to where it can generate a little income. 😉
Wow, nearing an end of an era. While I live in Californistan and have to deal with the woke people, if I went to the big cities, I would hate to move. I can ride 12 months a year, split lanes legally, twisty mountain roads to the east (gold country) and west (coastal mountains), Baja and Vegas desert to the south, and big trees to the north. I will never get bored riding. Thank you for your service on this fine holiday weekend.
Go fund me let’s get Cuban rider to the dragon!!!!😮😊

So you are going to live on the Tail of Dragon 😊
Thanks for your service bro. Thanks for all the many S1000XR videos. Maybe we'll see you on an M1000XR....
Thanks Mike, and if all lines up, that may just happen. 🤞
Did you ever eat Mad Jack's Mountaintop BBQ in Cludcroft? I live in NM, great riding out here, great place to eat BBQ
Sure did! Best BBQ I've had.
TN mtns best roads in America.
Cloudcroft is great for riding! There are some nice roads in Southern NM & Arizona. We spent a ton of time in those areas when we lived in El Paso. Thanks for sharing your videos. Ride safe!
Shall we start a GoFund me for Cuban Riders XR? Enjoyed your videos from day one and I for one want to see more.
Haha, no worries, I'll be back with a vengeance! 😄

All the best, chief! I still can't figure how you managed to work with that XR seat 😅😅
I wish you and your wife a ton of luck.
I hope you will find your dream location and home and we will see you soon again!✌
Thanks man
The only way I'd ever sell my XR is to buy the M1000XR.
Come back to New Mexico!!! Our clan will show you all the great roads!!!😁
BTW, from one veteran to another, thank you for your service, my brother!!!!
Thanks brother 🤘
I'm watching your channel from the beginnings . What is the mileage on it now?

Oh wow! I have a friend who lives in Artesia, just down the road, XR owner as well.
Good luck on your futre endeavors sir, and thanks for your service........
Good luck on whatever choice you make. Remember, the further north, the less seat time you will have with a reduced riding season.
For real

Have you thought about getting the M xr?
I’m going through this dilemma. Moved away from my hometown for more opportunities but the cost of living is making it non-viable to keep going. Given myself another 12 months to see where it goes.
It's tough man. It's hard to find a spot where it's still affordable to buy but has job opportunities.
Hello, how can I contact you?
Check out Greenville, SC, up and coming market, still affordable and not far from the mountains of western NC and eastern TN. It’s definitely on my radar as well.
You may be onto something 😉
Good luck! ✌🏼💪🙏

Best of luck on the house hunting man. It’s no fun and stressful; are least for me. Congrats again on retiring! I’m super jealous😂
Thanks for the update! Absolutly loving your trackdays with the XR. But i understand your decision. Looking forward to the next video!
Came for the XR, stayed for the XR !! Sad if you want to sell it 😭 but I understand. Looking forward for when you are back with an XR !!! M XR would also be fine and make me watch your videos again in future 😎🤙🏼

Appreciate the words Rob 🤙
Don’t be a stranger. Give me a shout when you visit Texas

Way better roads for motorcyclist there. Texas, honestly, sucks unless all you do is roll racing.
Miss ya Cube! Come Back Soon! 🏍❤
Cuban, I have a dumb question. Where's the fuze box on my 2015 S1000XR? Headlight highbeams work. Lowbeams are inop. Sean
They're under the seat, no? I'm realizing I've never messed with the fuses on this bike. Did you check the bulb itself? These can go out often.
@@CubanRider I can't find it under the seat. The bulbs look ok. I'll look again and let you know.
If Virginia is on your radar, be sure and check out SW Virginia.
Plenty of great riding here.
You can always re-finance this isn’t a new thing in history and the R isn’t to bad for a while then I’ll sell you my 23’ XR!

Godspeed in your travels, my man. Appreciate your videos and life updates. Cheers.
Much appreciated 🤙

Cuban, wishing you and the Mrs. the best of luck on this new chapter in your lives, thank you for your service and happy memorial weekend!
Good luck to you.
Hello sir have you change your clutch if yes at what KM and what clutch did you use
Hey, never done a clutch on the XR, they're quite durable if you don't abuse them.
All the best for the future CR 👍🏻 I don't know if you'd consider it, but because you're a decent guy and a more than decent rider, I'm pretty sure many of us who follow you would chip in to contribute to an m1000xr - what do the rest of you think ?

Thanks Anthony. I've loved it out there every time I've visited, and even with the hellish traffic, it's a breeze when you can lane split.
