Surreal. I must have listened to this thousands of times as a child. Every night for probably 5 years. I'm in my 40s now but I can still preempt every word, listening back. Remarkable piece of nostalgia here. Thank you very much for sharing it.

This is finally thee one fromy childhood. It was a red cassette. I was given it by my aunty as gift. Best version. I'm 38 and I been trying to find this version for since I was child. The soundtrack is amazing and very enchanting. I used to sneak my older brothers Walkman and secretly listen to this under the covers. 😎🤗😎

This was my first ever introduction to Roald Dahl, and the first time I heard Bernard Cribbins's voice. Thank you so much for preserving this, and other Roald Dahl audio cassettes like these for a new generation of fans.
Rest In Peace, Bernard Cribbins, Sir.

Here is the actual review; this was a very realistic recording backed up by the setting of Giant Country and the eerie music backs up the tensity of certain scenes - especially when the Bloodbottler interrogates the BFG (played wonderfully by Bernard Cribbins). You can literally feel the anxiety and tensity of being in a place full of evil giants and wonder if you are feeling exactly how Sophie felt. A beautiful adaptation. While the Puffin adaptation is also faithful I think this has a more realistic touch in a good way, since The BFG, next to The Witches, is a very nerve-wracking tale, yet a beautiful tale about friendship and teamwork.

The theme for the evil giants always creeped me out. It really does give that sense of them stalking a human in the dark of night and eating him/her up.

This is by far the best adaptation of the book. The music, Bernard's fantastic interpretation of the BFG, even the other giants. Steven Spielberg's version has nothing on this
