- The third episode in the Anglia Television series from 1988 about the history and music of The Salvation Army. Presented by Roy Castle.
Always admired Salvation Army. Will never forget in the late sixties, having a drink in one of the busiest pubs in Glasgow, an elderly female salvationist came in with a collection box. One of the working class Glaswegian men shouted out 'Sing us a song hen and we'll all chip in.' To my surprise, this lady , probably in her seventies, began singing, 'The Old Rugged Cross". There was complete silence in the pub until she had finished, followed by the rattle of many coins as her collection can was rapidly filled.
Thanks for sharing that story, Eileen. A woman of courage in that environment! But wonderful that her song was heard.
The most beautiful sound ever created 81yearold salvationist
A Nostalgic video from this iconic series. Roy Castle participated in a Carol event at Wexham Lark Hospital with Maidenhead SA band each Christmas for many years. He was a committed Christian who worshiped at Gold Hill Baptist Church, Chalfont St Peter.
Awwww Roy Castle
as the father of 3 daughters all who love the Lord Jesus I say good for her.
AMEN TO JESUS KINGS AND LORDS
Che dio vi benedica grandemente amen alleluyia
Gloria eterna a dio padre gloria eterna a Gesù cristo gloria eterna allo spirito santo nei secoli dei secoli senza fine amen
She had great courage but if you follow Jesus God will give you the courage to do it.
Rally por fake beard but I support the Salvation army. They bring the love of Jesus to all.
