The director mentioned that the significance of this dish was to portray that regardless of class, wealthy or poor, children want to eat instant noodles because it just tastes good. Kids that young do not know or discriminate certain kinds of foods based on what is considered for the "elite" or for the average consumers. But the Park family add high-quality beef to what is considered "cheap" instant noodles to make it more suitable to their class level. Director Bong is a genius!
Ahhh I thought the reason for the dish was because the rich family gets the choice to eat Instant Ramen while the poor would have no choice to elevate their meals. It's cool how many different interpretations you can get from the each scene in the movie, Bong Joonho is genius like you said!
I tought that the point was that most people would cringe at dish which mixes pricey beef with cheep junk food. Its like how classes dont mix together in capitalist society
@@sofiayang8839 Hey! I saw that theory going around as well, which is that: Premium Korean beef (expensive) = Rich Park family Neoguri (soup based spicy noodles) = Semi-basement family (flooded) - Kim family with their semi-basement submerged from heavy rain Chapagetti (black bean noodles, dark colored and no water) = Basement family - Original Housekeeper and husband However, while this is a good theory, I don't think it's what the director had intended. Ram-don, also known as Jjapaguri, has actually been around in Korea for several years now: aeriskitchen.com/2013/05/jjapaguri/ It's not like the director came up with this originality in order to show the metaphor of each symbolizing the families. It was an extremely popular noodle combination at the time it was being spread through the internet, and sort of died down. But still, it's a cool observation and that is the beauty of this film (Parasite) with so many different layers and each can be interpreted in different ways.

@@kellymantoothisunfittobeaj1650 interesting speculation regarding north koreans, but I heard that the housekeeper and her husband making jokes about the north korean leader was actually satirical. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I made this dish and it was delicious 🧡.
Awesome!
Me, too. :-) Made it last night for dinner. Very easy and delicious and so fast. Super customizable, too. Add some onions or mushrooms or celery, sprinkle leftover grated Parmesan cheese. It was another level goodness.
Why do you use disposable chopsticks at home though?
Maangchi, you're right. A delicious and healthy dish for a watershed moment of history. Parasite winning Best Picture. Looks like you would serve us jjapaguri, right?
Yes, I watched the Oscars with my friends! Awesome! Jjapaguri jjapaguri~ : )

I actually just saw the movie Parasite last week and it was hilarious! And now you came in with a recipe from the movie and re-enacted the scene! I love it! ❤️
It's creepy how I just saw this movie and thought to myself "damn.. that dish looks good... Maybe I should look up the recipe" next thing I know, it's the first recommended RUclips video I get right after watching the movie.

I bought my chapagetti and I’m making this tomorrow. Thank you for the “Parasite” intro. That was cute.
Never seen Parasite but that looks SOOO GOOD!
Should watch it, honestly if it doesn’t get oscars I will be disappointed in the academy.

Honestly you should watch it, it was mind blowing. It's so good
@@skynchickens300 I just checked the trailer & it looks just like my kind of movie. I also recognized most of the actors so I will definitely be watching it! Thanks!

It’s so crazy, we attempted to watch when this was uploaded, I tried watching it but got distracted. We didn’t end up watching the movie either but today we finally did, the moment they mentioned “jjapaguri” I remembered this video and immediately watched it after the movie. Ngl I really enjoyed the movie and I really wanted to make it too 🤩
Chinese (Hong Kong) caption was submitted by one of my viewers! Thank you so much! ruclips.net/user/timedtext_video?ref=wt&auto=yes&bl=watch&v=ZsTXzO-tk8M&nv=1

Ive never craved something that I've never had before, so as soon as I watched the movie Parasite I was like I have to find the recipe! I made it, and it was absolutely phenomenal!!! I'm eager to try similar recipes.
All the sauce inside it just makes it look so much better

Ohhh, "Ne, ne, ne. Nee, neee." Took me back to lessons with my first cello teacher, Duck Hee Lee O'Donnell. She was a sage and a cracker jack cellist, often answered phone calls confirming in just such a way. ❤❤❤

I watched parasite and watching choong-sook cook that dish made me so hungry! And it took less than 10 minutes!
I’m so glad you made a tutorial of the dish because I’ve been eager to attempt it!
Thank you for uploading
I came here by accident. Watched the movie parasite but didn’t bother searching for the recipe because it does not look good in the movie, but when you cook it, it looks delicious 😋
👍
I just watched the movie yesterday! Conveniently this video popped up in my recommendations! Lol
