I loved that Roxas and Xion came back. I don't feel like it cheapens the sacrifice they made in their games because they didn't know they could come back. It also made the end so much more bittersweet because all the trio were back together except the Destiny Trio. I also think this is nice because now everyone is getting a chance to help Sora.
I do think he had their return figured out by re:coded in 2011. The ending tells us about the seven people sora needs to save. KH3 STARTS by saying "You have seven hearts to save" meaning Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Lea, ROXAS, XION, and Namine.
Honestly, seeing all of the Sea Salt and Wayfinder Trios return and reunite with each other in III made me so so super happy!!! I was pretty much screaming with joy when those scenes happened and they put such a huge smile on my face!! Honestly, in general, whenever characters return from something, my thoughts on said returns really depend on how they're executed and such, I may be excited about it, I may be more critical on it, but honestly I'm just so so happy both of those trios are reunited again!!!
I actually like the trio's end more now because it shows that Nomura cares about us and what we want. Also I don't care if people say it felt rushed or didn't want them back for whatever reason, I would have been ok anyways, but the way they came back was great, and several important KH moments felt a lot more rushed to me (ex: Sora's death for one).
Hey, if any moment in movie, game, book, etc can make me cry (for a good reason) then that's amazing. I don't normally cry, no matter how emotional a scene can be. But for their return, literal tears my dude.
Xion and Roxas's return is easily the greatest scene in all of KH. Xion should be a massive part moving forward, mainly because she IS my favourite. Her return was everything I needed. Also, if they didn't return, we wouldn't have got Hearts As One.
I actually find it baffling he said that. Their return was built up since the original Coded way back in 2010. Walking back on it after all these years would've been a spit in the face. Not to mention the possibilities they have of the future I'm perplexed he hasn't seen them.
I’m in the team that Roxas and Xion shouldn’t have returned, but I’m also not sad that they’re back. Imo the revelation of Ventus made Roxas’ being far more meaningful - Roxas was like an echo, or remnant of Ventus within Sora. Roxas not returning wouldn’t not have mattered because he returned to his whole - he IS Sora, but also Ventus and by extension the same is of Xion.
I have the same point of view. I love their comeback and i continue to find their reunion scene on the keyblade graveyard good but for the lore of the serie a symbolic exchange of hearts when Sora find them in his would be a cool idea. For exemple when Roxas remembered Xion like it was implied in DDD, she would be in his Heart, or sharing "heart place" and the two of them go locate themselves in the heart of Axel. This action can be demanded by Axel or by Roxas. ^^
I do want Roxas to come back but not Xion. And yeah Roxas’ return scene made him look like that Avengers scene😂 but honestly though, it was quite underwhelming because we realised it is definitely happening and that element of surprise is gone completely. That, and later on everyone was mostly so quiet which a lot of people felt the final part of kh3 is extremely rushed. I honestly am not that interested with re:mind either cause it doesn’t give much needed ‘correction’ for the main story of kh3. I don’t know. The whole thing felt ….empty. The story focusing too much on Sora is why I feel like it’s better not to bring back some of the characters if this is the type of treatment they’re getting.
it'd have been really fucked up if terra, ventus, aqua, even, ienzo, and even evil bastards like dilan, lauriam, and elrena came back, but not two of the most used and abused children in the series 😅
I don't believe Nomura on this one. Roxas and Xion, and everyone else's return was foretold in Birth by Sleep's secret ending (which happened after KH2's events, don't forget), and again in ReCoded, and again in Dream Drop Distance. So Nomura is probably talking about his original vision that he had at the time of KH2, otherwise he was clearly bluffing.
Roxas and Xion are my favorite couple in the series! I can see how they may worry about death not having impact. But let's be honest, it's a Disney operation! They can't end it in heartbreak! And Roxas showing up at the end of 3 nearly brought a tear to my eye!
Honestly what makes it work more than anything else is Sora's disappearence. Like the ending of KH2 feels very weird to me, intentionally so. Like yes the original story we were followwing has ended happily but the story of Roxas who we initially felt was just a distracting nobody (get it?) getting in the way of Sora's story but eventually came to like, ends rather sad while simultaneously reflecting hidden parts of Sora that are both telling and sad. So then, we finally get KH3 where everyone gets their happy ending! Except Sora. Because he realized in the end that if you dedicate yourself to giving others a happy ending despite fate itself fighting you, you aren't going to get that happy ending for yourself, and he accepts that. It's what seperates him from Xehanort. They both fight against fate in their own ways, but Sora accepts that their are consequences and chooses to take those consequences upon himself rather than inflicting them upon others. I'm really excited to see what KH4 does with Sora as a charcter. So much of what we've seen of him has been shielded with the mask he puts on, one we saw crack near the end of KH3 and of course Donald and Goofy have always been the ones helping him keep that mask on, because it has helped him deal with the enormity of his situation. It's why the most interesting chracter stuff we see from Sora is often in the side games and when they aren't around. Now, being on his own, I really want to see Sora's character explroed more now that he is beginning this new chapter of his life, sepearted from everything he knew before. And I'm hopeful that the tease at the end of KH3 with the KH1 intro quote is a sign that I'm right and it seems like Yozora is going to play a big part in this.
There's a good dark fanfic in which he refuses to return to Sora. Sora is my favorite character... But I was very proud of Roxas for fighting to claim a future of his own design. Because that is how you know you're a living being. Any less, and you just happen to be a toy that breathes.
yeahh, kh3 felt like there were too many characters and it might have been better to break apart their arcs and do it in another game. That's probably a reason why Leon and the FF gang didn't appear too because it was overcrowded already
Even though it's neat that Roxas, Xion and Namine returned, I really wouldn't have mind if they didn't. Not that I hate them, I like them all alot it's just that the scenario would've been bittersweet but impactful imo
Yeah. The story already had their parts ended quite some time ago. They're still my favorite characters, but we really could've gone without them in Kingdom Hearts 3.
I’m happy that they returned. People say that it makes their sacrifice less impactful but that’s not true. It still hurt them as much in that time that they disappeared because they didn’t even know that they could return in the first place. As for the people who play it. You don’t play kh3 first and then 358/2 days and kh2 so IN THAT MOMENT you play the game it’s still as impactful since you haven’t played kh3 yet so you don’t know about their return as well. In that moment you’re playing it it’s still very painful. People say that Roxas’s story was over and should be over in kh2 but i think that’s just what people like to think themselves. It was never over which is why Roxas came back in Coded and Namine’s message to Sora at the end of Coded made it clear that he would be the one who saves them all, or at least try to. I think it would be more of a bad move to make us attached to these characters, make them playable (Roxas) and spend alot of time with them and then just get rid of them. Plust bringing the wayfinder trio back but not the sea salt trio just feels wrong to me…Roxas’s return made me cry really hard and you could say it’s great to see Roxas return with more confidence in himself and Xion too. I don’t care if Xion or Roxas’s role isn’t going to be big in the next KH saga, i’m just happy that they got what they deserved.
I think the ending was brilliant, as it showed Sora really became a true hero, just as foreshadowed in the first game with Olympus Colosseum. He made the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone he knew and loved and that included the multiverse of Kingdom Hearts. He may have have abused the power he had but in turn, truly became the saviour of so many lives, at the cost of his own existence. I feel like if it went totally bleak (so many lives lost at the graveyard, Sora trying to save people and still fails on top of his disappearance), I would’ve hated it. As it is, it leaves room for more stories and hope for the future of the series. I truly loved the ending. It was amazing symbolic brilliance.
What I thought it would be cool that kh4 could do is have the Disney worlds that you could visit be some of the live-action versions of ones that Sora already visited like Aladdin, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast.
Roxas and Xion returning made me feel like ALL of the past games mattered and got follow ups and a conclusion, mostly cause I was one of thos3 fans whp played the hell out of the 'Filler' games. 358/2 made me adore the organization amd actually makes kh2 a little depressing at points when I replay it. Having EVERYONE come back was what defined kh3 for me. Hell Roxas's return was the only Spoiler I saw before I got the game, and knowing he was on the way actually helped me get past a few points.
No. I actually hated Roxas, Xion and Namine coming back. Their stories concluded perfectly in KH2. Bittersweet but fulfilling. This game definitely ruined that conclusion. Even Riku Replica was unnecessary.
Honestly hated them coming back ruined the story for me almost was as cheap as Axel getting a keyblade meh And i would of preferred to get Leon and his crew in the final fight helping
They really need to make a TV series of these characters. There just wasn't enough screen time and interaction amongst them. LIke the other Keyblade Warriors didn't really have a reaction towards Roxas being able to wield two keyblades or the fact that Roxas and Ventus look exactly alike.
Given that instead of death KH puts it's characters in places worst then death I am honestly alright with no one really dying until they are ready to die. It leads to interesting plot and character moments. Do I think death and how it works in the setting should be explained? Yes and I even think they are doing so. As we explore Strelitzia's afterlife, and Player's melted heart, the Final World, and so many other things that are hinting that there is something weird about the "element" of death. I would argue that they likely knew that Xion and Roxas where going to come back by the end of Recoded. Or at lest they where keeping the foreshadowing for it being possible. So even if they say that they where not sure they where keeping the option open.
It doesn't bother me that they came back for 3... but I am hoping they _don't_ play a major role so that their arc closes off nicely. Let them just chill in Twilight Town. This is me saying this _even though_ the Sea Salt Trio is my favorite
Roxas made a huge impact in the story at KH2 that it would have left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouth if he wasn’t revived. I know circumstances are different between the org13 and Roxas and Xion, but seeing the org13 recompleted but Roxas and Xion left for dead would have caused a huge protest from the majority of the fandom. Also, it would have been like adding salt to an open wound on the face considering how badly they did some worlds… (i know… let it go.)
I kinda feel like if Roxas didn’t get brought back, same with Xion, then KH4 would be a lot different. If they weren’t brought back then maybe Roxas and Xion would have somehow exited Sora’s body in KH4 and they would be that games Trio or something… interesting thoughts interesting thoughts
Make this theory go viral !!!!!!! “Riku replica becomes Yozora" out of all the past versions of riku to use for the true organization 13 why use riku replica?? Xion only faded into Sora because she was defeated by Roxas and was only composed of memory's and not a half a heart like Roxas. In KH lore we are told time flows differently between the realms of light, darkness, between, data, and sleep. I could see riku replica being used in kh4, don't know if it's goings to be the case of riku replica become yozora, but I could see riku replica being reborn. also I hope nomura acknowledges the broken way to dawn stuck in the dark realm.
I'ma be real with ya'll... this game is half disney. I want my half happy ending. Sora is " lost " ( for now ).... but look at all the friends he reunited.
I liked them coming back but my brother didnt like it i just hope roxas does something epic in the future vecause hes basicly sora but much cooler and why should he be stronger?
... you consider that a good conclusion? Hell no. It was abysmal and felt rushed. Like everything happened in that 5 minutes. Same with the bbs trio conclusion. It was garbage. In general im in the camp of roxas' story ending in kh2
To be fair, they should have stayed dead. It puts much more weight to their death scenes. Seeing them revived removed all that weight, like pulling off a Dragon Ball.
I loved that Roxas and Xion came back. I don't feel like it cheapens the sacrifice they made in their games because they didn't know they could come back. It also made the end so much more bittersweet because all the trio were back together except the Destiny Trio. I also think this is nice because now everyone is getting a chance to help Sora.
it is pointless and this video is ridiculous cuz it want to try to justify they return when the Whole damn purpose of a nobody is to be one again
I do think he had their return figured out by re:coded in 2011. The ending tells us about the seven people sora needs to save. KH3 STARTS by saying "You have seven hearts to save" meaning Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Lea, ROXAS, XION, and Namine.
It was just incredible what they did with the days trio remind DLC! That hit so hard for me when sora called out to roxas!
Honestly, seeing all of the Sea Salt and Wayfinder Trios return and reunite with each other in III made me so so super happy!!! I was pretty much screaming with joy when those scenes happened and they put such a huge smile on my face!!

Or he nearly got cold feet last second
And I'm all for them all coming back in 4. But maybe play as Roxas and Riku more. They're my favorites!
Riku is amazing I think! He definitely deserves needs more time in the spotlight.
extremally doubtful
Their friendship was my favorite

ever since he stated this in the interview I've been thinking about their return and how things would be if they didn't return
Nice video. Not to be rude, but this info.was sent out on KH Insider on April 10th with the Q& A, so why didn't u cover it when it was sent out
I think it would have been better if they didn't come back
It doesn't bother me that they came back for 3... but I am hoping they _don't_ play a major role so that their arc closes off nicely. Let them just chill in Twilight Town. This is me saying this _even though_ the Sea Salt Trio is my favorite

And in the secret episode of KH3 we see that the final world touches Sora’s station of awakening before being consumed by Yozora’s world
So the realm of un-reality could in theory flow alot faster then our does.
This is proven by the new kh4 trailer
Stating that he’s been there 7 days
While back with the guardians of light
It’s been a year
This could explain how Yozora can appear to be in this time while his "past self" already exist. As explained by luxu / Xigbar in KHDDD of the rules of time travel.
In Toybox we see something very peculiar,
we get glimpses of verum rex's world as a video game.
This isnt by chance,
Why does young xhanort seem to be able to control the verum rex video game when he sends Sora into it??? Cuz its not just a video game about the world of verum rex. Its a illusion from the "book a prophecies"
a book of prophecy has The power to foretell future events of other worlds but not in its entirety but glimpses.

I believe that the master of masters has told Yozora this and explained his past existence to him and thats how he's heard of Sora and was told to "save him".
So that Sora can be one of the 7 crowns
I could see riku replica being used in kh4, don't know if it's goings to be the case of riku replica become yozora, but I could see riku replica being reborn. also I hope nomura acknowledges the broken way to dawn stuck in the dark realm.
I'ma be real with ya'll... this game is half disney. I want my half happy ending. Sora is " lost " ( for now ).... but look at all the friends he reunited.
Ok this is a Hot take but i thought the Wayfinder Trio reunion was much more emotional
I liked them coming back but my brother didnt like it i just hope roxas does something epic in the future vecause hes basicly sora but much cooler and why should he be stronger?
I needed roxas and xion
Huh, how very interesting.
reupload?
... you consider that a good conclusion?
