Just an update on the car,,its first ever 9 sec pass has been achieved with a 9.27@143mph with a 1.35 60ft on a Gem diff and still the std tailshaft,,Now the goal is to run an 8...
Love the car mate! Inspiring me to start a turbo conversion on my built g180 TF slx lol.
Enjoyed this feature format with the owner telling the car's story. Seeing a finished project and dyno figures/time slips is great, but "getting to know the car" and the dudes behind them is awesome. Look forward to more in the feature series 👌🏻
Takes me back to the late 90's when we were all picking up Piazza's cheap and doing the swap into Gemini's.
I have always been a stickler for getting all my cars passed on the pits- from my 383ci air shifted XD, to a blown 6cyl BA through to my 1200kw F6 Tornado; never had any issues when cops are pulling cars over- i always drove away whilst others were getting defected, and added plus is that your insurance company will be happy in the event something major happens.
Good to see a young bloke with his head screwed on, and great to see no LS/ Barra/ K20/ SR20 swap in sight!
Your the reason I can't find a manifold for my 4ze1 rodeo now😂
Love the old Gemini smell once it's been parked in the sun at the shop's, it reminds me of the good old days 😊
Shoutout to Fullboost !!! Gemracing are a bunch of cool dudes who just love ❤️ Gemini’s my kind guys !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Thanks for the support legend 💪🏼
Used to hate them in the modified car scene in the 90's, but love the look now.
You've got older and wiser :P
Same, they used to be the "poor man's Commodore", but I get a kick out of seeing them on the road now. Such a shame most of them ended up in the crusher.
Miss my gemi one of the best cars I've owned
Man I love that white Gem. I can't wait to get my panelvan on the road. I'll have to hit this fella up down the track. Every 6 months I come back and watch this video
Great content guys! How good's the Gemini too, cruiser on the street and take them on down the strip. Great way to show how it can be done!
Corey is one wholesome guy. love Gemracing and all their work. a 9 is a 9!
I also had my Gemini engineered with a gemracing built G180. Another point to add with engineering, apart from satisfying cops, you will also satisfy your insurance assessor. People are dreaming if they think their modified car is 100% covered by their insurance co. Sure they will take out a policy and let you pay them for cover, but come claim time, they have a really easy out if the car is illegally modified, they'll just reject your claim and leave you high and dry.
Another reason we had it done mate!
Have you actually heard of that happening to someone? It seems to be spoken about as a potential, which makes sense, but you would think there would be heaps that have experienced it if true
@@sexyfacenation the other aspect is, your thousands of dollars of parts you put into a build won't be part of your payout, compared to the stocker of the same model.
@@onedayiwillmakesomecontent that depends in who's fault doesn't it? If not your fault the car needs to be repaired regardless, and other person pays
Yes depends on fault... I've heard of it happening once that I know of. So yes it's rare. But for $1000-1500 to get the engineers and have the piece of mind. I'd do it every time. No question. Worth it.
Great video. Much respect for getting it engineered, that is a true street car.
Cory is one of the best blokes I know lovely family his dad is one clever bloke. This is a great video
Well done Corey. Great video and great demonstration of the humble Gemini’s capabilities.
Just plain cool my friend, love it.
Great video format. Well edited, long enough to get into the interesting details of the car, and an owner being given an opportunity to proudly discuss his car. No bull interview style from someone who has shown over and over again that he knows exactly what he's talking about, and never big-notes himself for it (unlike many other RUclips channels...) Great stuff!
Great Video! love seeing the engineered cars getting interviews. watching the roll racing in Qld, several 4cyl gemini chopping plenty of 2k barras and LS cars up there are street cars also.
Best episode yet 🤙
Just got my plaz intake last week for my g200, they look great, good stuff Fullboost and Corey
You’ll love it mate, all our new builds get them. Not only do they look great, but they perform awesome too. The polished ones are beautiful 😜
Love the gemmies.
Had so many as a teen. Even had a TD gemmi with a 12a in it. And in the 90s. That was cool. And even legally done
The boys at gemracing build a bloody good car. Should have included the yellow coupe in the vid tho that thing is also a beaut little build
They filmed a short scene but didn’t make the cut, was only of the engine bay and it’s half together so doesn’t surprise me.. lol
My dad owned a silver coupe version of this same car my entire childhood (bought new in the 1st quarter of 1985, before the 2nd generation was sold)... Isuzu I-Mark 1.8 in our side of the earth. I wish I could find one just like it! Great machine you built yourself out of that sedan! Cheers!
My first turbo project was a TE gemini with piazza turbo setup. that was 20+ years ago. I have recently picked up another TE gemini and a 2.6L 4ZE1.
nice. was always eyeballing a 2.6 swap on my old wagon.
I have the Exact same shifter in my LS SWAP ‘71 Nova! Love it
Awesome video today guys thanks
I had a beautiful 🥲 reminiscing about my Gemini's through this one. White, TE, G161, 176hp NA, 4spd, 13.81@96mph back in 1995 and Blue, G180, 100hp N2O, auto, 13.54@104mph. Thanks Luke and Geordie for an awesome feature. 👍
i put a 13B into a TE back in the early 90's was a great car and did well at Summernats. only sold it 5 years ago. had Supra 5 speed and a cut down 9" diff. arrr the memories flooding back :)
Another great vid. Keep up the great work.
I dyno tuned one of these Gemini's like the white one for a friend setup as a circuit car with a VN V6 in it with mild cam, basic mods and full commodore drive line and T5 box. Weighed around the 900kg mark, not big power, about 200hp at the wheels but did it Go! Can't imagine what 400hp would be like in such a light car.
The race car makes over 750-800hp 😳
Awesome car and Corey's a great guy. Loving this style of content 👌 up the Gems
Back in the day I had a gem that had 98rwkw and it was a fun car to drive, I lost my licence 7 times in that thing
You guys need to do a video with a engineer about how to go about getting your car engineered. And some tips of do's and do not do's ect. It'd be interesting. Because its very expensive to get a car engineered in Victoria.
No it's not. Talk to the engineer BEFORE you fire up the plasma cutter. If you know what you can change and how much, and why, you should be able to get through the entire engineering process for under $2k if your workmanship is up to standard.
Chris is spot on, find a good engineer. Talk to them first.
I have a 709 whp EJ8 Civic coupe with a fully built LSVTEC with a bored forged bottom end, runs on E85, with a GTS3582 dual ball bearing billet compressor wheel turbo and 2200cc injectors and it'll drive around town normally if you stay out of boost. The only rough part of it is that it has a twin-disc clutch in it and it's like an on/off switch.
There was a very quick one on the Gold Coast in early 2000s Red with the plates 16OTU running a Toyota 2G turbo
That was an extremely fast street car. I watched it destroy a T88 2J Jun motor Supra! The thing laid absolutely black stripes at 110km/hr rolling drag and everyone behind had to slow down for the smoke screen 🤣
I got to chat to the owner and the car tuner. Awesome guys from Brisbane somewhere? I've never met a car tuner so willing and opening share all of his tuning secrets. Just a really awesome guy 👍
Marty's watching this video FULLY torqued...
Lovely, lovely peice of work on both the owner and the film makers 👍👍
Gold. Torque hub media summed it up perfect. Thanks full boost
Props on getting the M plate, and not wrecking the H plates for everyone like some idiots.
Love the car. I got done for an Air Filter like that for Roadworthy years ago, was told they need to be enclosed/sealed. How times have changed.
It's the only thing that we've changed since the engineers, we took it to him with an enclosed filter setup. However others have passed like this so we just put a regular pod back on it
I had no idea Isuzus would do that. Very cool!
Just put an SR20 in my Corona, your opening statement killed me 🤣
Cool car, very sweet ride.
I feel for the poor beasty when it hooks up and crabwalks down the strip!
Great little cars, always good power to weight.
Loved the episode. How many cars in Australia can go 8 sec with the factory block in one piece? Outstanding stuff and great coverage.
I need another gemini, this video geed me up lol
Lock the gate and the shed and the car and put on the club Lock!! Oh dear, that appears to be Melton and surrounds. 😂 should pop in and see Brett at BNR race engines. Hes just up the road
im a big isuzu fan. I own 2 1991 isuzu impulse rs awd turbo :)
This is diesel power?
@@lufirays8 no, petrol
Awesome little car 💪💪
Finally a real StreetMachine!
A Gemini with a boot floor and sills, that's rare.
I cannot get my head around how this thing got fully engineered. I went through the whole process 20 years ago and it was a major headfuck.
anything to do with suspension/steering is a clusterfark, using as many oem parts makes the process a lot easier.. and talking to an good engineer BEFORE going nuts
the key to getting a car engineered is to consult an engineer before getting started. so many cars I've know that have had to redo entire diff setups, and engine mounting and aligning because they "just did it" and figured it would be okay
@@danwiththe8647 Hey maybe this latest tension in Europe with Russia will devolve into World War 3 and if we're lucky enough to survive we'll end up like in Mad Max putting whatever machines on the road that we want to :D
I love the melton cruise hahaha
Beautiful cars and staying with original style engine is 🔥🌶🌶
What a little GEM
My Mate had a fun lil Red Gemi with a G180, his had DOHC, copper head gasket, forged Vanolia's and a peened diesel bottom end. had a T28 and custom intake with a VL TB. Can't remember the ECU, Haltech I think. went very well on only 14psi but having a manual meant he smashed the axles often. I always said he shoulda put an auto in it even put the engine in a lil wagon or something with some tubs. I think I remember hearing the guy whom bought it blew it up on the dyno after making 500 rear wheel possibly?
That's a pretty big cannon on the back! 🔫
Need it so it keeps her a bit quieter lol, it’s huge and looks hideous lol
Deffenetly like these videos
What's the go with emission testing for modified engines from cars the early 90s in Vic?
I can't find anything specific about it but heard I'll need a IM240 test which costs 1300 bucks a pop here in Vic.
Basically we didn’t need an IM240 test due to being on E85 and a “pre emissions” vehicle, however it’s so much bloody cheaper to head to either Sydney/Adelaide to get it done
Gemi is the shit good little car. That's sweet that one.
hi guys, this car is the copy of the chevrolet CHEVETTE (4 doors) BRAZILIAN !!!
There all the same, GM so not a copy per say, daewoo, pontiac, opel its just a badge, they were the worlds car or something like that, wiki has a good history on the t body
They're* sorry
Careful, you'll trigger the Germans saying things like that! The Gemini/Kadett C/Chevette etc was GM's first world car and built in every continent.
Would love to see a diesel Isuzu done
G&J in Brisbane have one with a bombed 4JJ1 in it
Kid has the softest voice, gonna be huge once puberty hits.
In Brazil, an as a Chevrolet Chevette, manufactured from 1973 to 1982 1st generation known as the shark, from 1983 to 1993 as "monzinha" in 1993 it was replaced by the Chevrolet corsa (holden Barina, Opel Corsa, vauxhall corsa)
Not bad at all, just one thing, who ever welded the pipe to the intake of plazamaman's throttle intake, has no idea how to weld, the grey painted bit?
It is welded on, therefore they do have an idea on how to weld mate.
Thanks for this nice feature . Wonderful to see up close what probably the Fastest Geminis in the world. Would you mind sharing a link to their Brake Upgrade supplier/sponsor. Searched Hitech brakes but cant seem to find it. Thanks
I know that person ! He is a very nice person.
Fuck yes!! Gemi!!🔥
What are you guys doing out west!!
If you turned left at that roundabout I would’ve said gday!!
This car was easy to engineer due to the fact that it has gone from carby to efi. The emissions is the biggest struggle when it comes to engineering.
You're forgetting about the turbo setup, the brake upgrade, the rollcage, the gearbox for some reason or other, needing a windscreen demister (we used 2 12v hair driers) and a bunch of other little things. It's not just "carby to EFI"
@@CoreyHunter-Gemracing hey mate can you recommend a engineer in Melbourne?
Sweet love Gemimi's
Shot every time he mentions daddy
I’d get you pretty drunk!
Meticulously built!
I do recall in the old days some people running the 2.2 or 2.6 Rodeo motors cammed and injected? I would say turbo and stroke with smaller capacity = revs = potentially increases in turbo efficiency
Like we are seeing now way way more destroked big boost engine setups reving to crazy RPM!
We gotta squeeze the last big of juice from the ripest combustion technologies!I have to admit I thought that innovation would die off with the electric, but the "resistance" has been wow!
Moonshine this thing boys! You know it's cheap science.... Homebrew monster Copperhead road
6:14 that rear end wants to leave the building
People build Isuzu motors? Who knew!
Awesome video, cool cars and a rad owners.

In Europe, as an german Opel Kadett C, the biggest engine was a 2 liter. Today these are cult cars...
is that your MR2 in the background? or there's?
Hi there , nice engine and setup .
looking to add turbo and other goodies to my 4ze1 , need good experienced workshop to give me a hand with this project . Please recommendation, Thank you in advance.
Didnt realise Kinney had a gemini
Me neither
Wat do the bros think of t5 gearboxes.iv heard good and bad.2nd and reverse crunch on most.have you seen a getrag on a vp s2.i noticed there both 8 bolt.but has hydro clutch maby a mish 2 plumb
Old fella I worked with had old rodeo fuel injected Isuzu 1.6L ute it's worked harder and done more towing than a dodge ram lol
I cant believe i sold my piazza, I don’t think I’ve seen one around in 10 years.
Safety wise, the winscreen is the air bag
Hi mate can I have a bit of information on the diff set up please thanks
Altra9 in Brisbane make billet 28 spline LSD's and spools for the TD-TG petrol diff, they make axles too. Contact Lee Thomas from Thomas4Parts for a urethane turque tube mount and get an engineer to sleeve your original torque tube shaft.
@@garageredzone thanks very much mate most appreciated 👍👍

In Brazil it's name GMC Chevette
The jackeroo rodeo motors where good upgrade stronger bottem end
Nice car but I cringed seeing #2 lead sitting against rocker cover breather fitting…only a matter of time before it rubs through

It's strange to think now that for things like a VT caliper conversion, a VT commodore is now an old car too.

Man you could pick them up for free, it’s not even the cost about them it’s the fact of trying to get a hold of one, and getting one with virgin bore! lmao
I went farrrk at start this video, see on the drag strip. I had 1983 back it the day
Too bad you guys can’t drive anything you want to on the street like we can here in the US
Australia is turning into California in that respect...
Would go even faster if that s@#$ suspension was rectified.
Looks like a Chevette
Who does his Rwc certificates.....I no where I live a turbo that big no air flow metre an a pod jammed on the end...we all need to go to your bloke...
The car is engineered for these modifications. The car doesn't require an AFM.
