I remember witnessing a similar feat as the first story... The manager's name was Dave and the customer (at the counter) had a newly hired sister who worked there called Wendy.
He asked for Wendy and got berated by the cashier for it, then again when he demanded she go get Dave. Dave then gave the cahier a break after clearing things up and Wendy's brother was very understanding.

Sooo, there should be an extra nametag just for this kind of "Wendy" situation.

I worked at a Wendy's in the 80's. We NEVER had anyone ask for Wendy...they all asked "Where's the beef?" Groan! I worked the super salad bar (I don't think that ever went national...just a regional test area)...mostly cool except for the drunk lady who tried to climb inside the salad bar to reach the other side.

Wendy's management can be pretty terrible. I used to frequent a particular Wendy's in Austin Texas. The assignment manager in the evenings was a moron when it came to handling the food. Mixed up orders, massively over salted fries etc. Then in 2002 he quit working there after his band win a local competition and got a job opening for Aerosmith in Las Vegas.

So true, about 6 years ago, the Wendy's I lived near at the time, screwed up my order bad. No toppings on my sandwich and the chili-cheese fries was 4 fries with a drop of cheese. I brought the stuff back and the manager argued with me about the order, said I must of altered the order to get free stuff, when it was obvious I didn't on the fries. I took pictures before hand and sent them to corporate after the manager went off on me. A DM (not the local DM though) called me back and talked with me, she was very nice and sent me a 50 dollar gift card. I used it at another store, but about 6 month later I went back to the local one and the whole team was new. From my chat with the DM, I got the feeling that there was a lot of issues with that store.

I'm 55 seconds into this. I worked as a manager for Wendy's back in the day. I, in fact, met Dave. He was cool as hell. Loved working for him.

In the late 1980's I built my house and offered to make a run to Wendy's for the sub contractors working at the time. When I got back I found that my single had everything on it except for the beef patty, in fact there wasn't even any grease on the bun where the patty would have been placed. I went back to Wendy's to get a replacement.
Does anyone remember what Wendy's commercial was running on TV at the time? That's right "Where's The Beef".

I’ve never worked fast food or in food service. I can see how a person might forget pickles or onions or mustard but how in the world would you forget the meat patty?

    • @electronron1
      @electronron1 3 года назад +2

@@lscblackwell9202 I didn't understand it either. When I brought it back I think the manager thought I was trying to give them crap because of the commercial, until he checked and saw for himself that there wasn't any grease on the bun.

Wendy's should have a spare nametag with the name Wendy on it and have employees cycle through who's wearing it. Imagine someone asking for Wendy only to have the 6'4 bald tattooed employee walk up and say "I'm Wendy, and before you ask, yes, my parents really named me Wendy. We don't speak anymore for this and various other reasons. How can I help you?"

I empathize with the "Wendy's" story. I used to work at "Shoe Carnival" and would get so many customers asking about the clowns. I would just respond with "That particular manager is on break, I'm here, how can I help you?" They didn't know how to react since I just insulted a manager while providing them customer service. Those types of jokes are as original and as funny as "I just printed that bill this morning!" and "If it doesn't scan it must be free, right?" :/

I was a manager at Wendy's and I never had anyone ask me that. However, if I had two guys like this in my drive thru I would have told them that Wendy went out for coffee and directed them to the nearest Starbucks. LOL

Unions took a big hit in the Chrysler debacle as well as the GM one too. And the Wisconsin firing of the educational union pinpoints that unions were living off the union members and subsequently has caused a decline over the years. I used to be a union member leaving me with a foul taste ever since, and that is a long story I care not to share

Before i got my current job, my first question to any new employer during my interviews was always the same, is there a union here. If the answer was yes, i thanked them and left. Union, with it's crazy demands made the company of my first real job go belly up. I have never been unionized since and never will be again.

  • @carls1959

I am not a fan of unions. I've only worked at one union shop and found that the only things they guaranteed were the same things guaranteed through state labor laws, so were they necessary? The company also had a 90 day probationary requirement on all new hires, where you could get fired without reason, but the union started taking dues out at 60 days. When I told them I didn't want the dues taken out before I got representation, I was labelled a trouble maker. The shop steward used to come into my area and hide/sleep on the bales of material and tell me to wake him up if something went wrong, or towards the end of the shift (overnight shift). One morning the big company bosses came through with new customers and asked me where the shop steward was, so I threw a handful of raw materials up where he was sleeping. Well, he woke up swearing at me and was surprised to see all of the top brass looking at him in shock, when he came down. Never saw him again. The only other problems with unions was on a municipality level. As a tax payer, I see no reason for unfunded liabilities such as union employees' retirements and healthcare after they leave the job. It hurts cities and towns. I've always been an advocate of paying them a little more and having their unions provide those benefits. It only makes sense, since the unions had more bargaining power with healthcare providers and were experts in financials, since they seem to see what future revenues were for towns, and therefor could invest their members money more efficiently to be able to afford their retirements.

Unions are ridiculous! I just sat in a pla meeting and listened to adults scream at each other over which union could claim the 4 hour install of less than 500 square feet of fake turf. Union member dues paid for a room full of people to sit and argue for hours over a small park project. The city council should be forced to attend. The only benefit to cities is the unions agree to not picket. I have no problem crossing picket lines.

I got an Story for you. Oh boy.
Roughly 10-15 Years ago the Trai nDriver Union in my country went on Strike.
The negotiations broke down the typical thing.
After the State did send an Mediator the Union proudly proclaimed the new Contract they agreed on.
What did they want? More Moeny ofc. Since the Train Driver didnt get an raise for Years and Inflation is a thing.
How much did they get after 3 Months (yes 3 Months)? Well wages were increased by 10%, Inflation in that time meant they stll owned less than before. Since in the Years sicne the alst Contract Inflation went up 12%.
But thats not everything, no they fucked up even better.
They signed away their Union Rights to strike for 5 Years! Simpler said, no new Unions Contracts for 5 Years. And in return they got an annual (yearly) raise of 1,5%. Inflation at that Time was yearly 1,7%.
Or simpler said. The Union went out for a good cause. Higher wages since Inflation meant People didnt get what they once signed up for. And then the Union gave in, with an Raise that was lower than Inflation . And a future Raise that is lower than yearly Inflation. And they even gave up the one "power move" a Unions has to make sure Train Drivers were fucked over for the next 5 Years.
And for those that dont understand what i mean with the Inflation and getting less Moeny even with an Raise.
If you earn 1000 Dollar a Month and Inflation is 1,7%, then next Year you need to earn 17 Dollar more a Month to buy the same stuff. Since Prices will rise with Inflation. Or if you look at it from the other side. Your "buying Power" is 17 Dollar less than before thanks to Inflation.
