    Looking back, I notice that the number of views of your videos is getting smaller all the time.
    I am subscribed, and I'm interested, but you post so often now that I can't keep up.
    You need to be careful that you don't create a kind of 'N Korea fatigue', where you post so often that people no longer listen.
    I hope you respect the good intention of my comment.

      The character of the posting here changed a couple of months ago. My suspicion was that it wasn't her running the channel, but someone else, say, her video editors or media minders. That was solidified for me yesterday when I saw a comment from someone suggesting that she was on a speaking tour (being about to speak in Iowa). Yes, posting too frequently starts to come across like pestering for attention. All of the posting since the change in management has been repeat runs of previous videos or snippets from full-length videos of interview or speaking occasions that have already been available on RUclips for weeks or months. Furthermore, she's not sticking to the topic that people came here for in the first place, but sounding off about far-right US domestic politics, thus losing people who didn't come here for that. During September the displayed subscriber count was "1.14M"; it's now "1.13M". Because RUclips are presumably truncating the last four digits of precision, we can't tell how many people have unsubscribed, but can at least deduce that people unsubscribing haven't been at least compensated for by new subscribers. In other words, the number of subscribers has likely peaked. In any case, it's the number of people viewing your videos that is the measure of your influence, not the number of nominal subscribers, almost the entirety of whom the views counts show aren't actually watching. It's no wonder to me that far fewer people are taking notice of her on this channel these days.
      Waiting now for the kneejerk calls of "communist" or "NK/China agent/supporter" or similar from the usual white knights just for pointing all this out...

      It's by any chance, you related to the North Korea communist leader? Which is the scam of the Earth? Because you sound like it! I pray and I'm hoping that I'm wrong. do you have any idea why the business promoting they products, so much on the TVs on the radios everywhere what is the reason behind it? because they products becoming so popular and the sales sky through the roof and that's why the never let you forget it. look at yourself before you start giving advice to other people. God bless you.

      I think that a part of our problem is a lack of pride and heritage. Let me explain it with an example. This summer I visited a chateau garden near the place I live and there are Sequoia trees. They were brought in 200 years ago with the idea that in 3-400 years there will be fully grown sequoias. He didn't plant them for himself, nor for his children, but for his great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren. His garden is not something to change every season according to the newest fashion, it is something to stay there. Small changes are expected, of course, but some things are stable.

    It's true that freedom isn't free, but it's also worth fighting for, and there absolutely has to be responsibility and accountability for all individuals equally and without exception.

    I've heard it said that we are not punished _for_ our sins, but that we are punished _by_ our sins. In this way, I believe freedom comes with individual responsibility, and the concept is as old as Christianity, if not much older.
    PS: Put more simply, bad things happen when we live a less-than-perfect life. Of course, we all do, but we mitigate the effects of sin when we sin less, regardless of whether our sin has an external victim. This needn't be a Christian concept, but it's what western civilization has embedded in it, along with what are commonly seen as Judeo-Christian or western values.

  • @RoxanneLavender
    @RoxanneLavender 10 месяцев назад +1

    Freedom does come with responsibility. Without freedom someone else is keeping people in-line usually to an unnecessary degree. With freedom if we want to stay alive basically we have to keep ourselves in-line, like don't steal, don't harm, all of that stuff i guess and lower down the rung as Yeonmi said 'be humble' and all that. Yeonmi is a very wise woman and our western worlds would do better to listen to her and other like her who know what it's like to live under a dictatorship, 'communism', 'socialism', etc, how it comes about.

    I have a question that I can't find much about online.
    Surely there are older people in North Korea who remember a unified Korea. Albeit a dying generation, but they are still out there. How is the Kim Dynasty able to brainwash the entire population if there are people within that population who have seen with their own eyes what a prosperous country looks like? I know we're talking about the 1930's and 40's when the world was less globalized and technology was significantly worse, but there should be 80-100 year olds in North Korea who at least remember enough about their youth to know that everything they're told is a lie. Do they not pass down that information to their children and grandchildren? Do they, and that's why people are aware enough to flee the country?

    • @Melissa0774
      @Melissa0774 10 месяцев назад +1

      I'm sure that:
      1. They'd be SEVERLY punished if they said anything, probably sent to the concentration camps. Probably a lot, if not most of them were sent to concentration camps anyway, years ago, even if they didn't say anything.
      2. Most of the ones who managed not to get sent away, probably died of age related diseases pretty early on because of the lack of medical care and malnutrition.

    The sad thing for America is that we still follow the UK. Britain will always be the big bro to the colonies (US, Canada, NZ, Australia). That psyche will never change. And the brits are crumbling.

    • @leanneedwards3047
      @leanneedwards3047 10 месяцев назад +2

      Trust me the U.S does not follow the U.K. If anything it is the complete opposite. I am British, yet wish I was American with the rights you have. Legalized marijuana, the right to bare arms, presidential election, one of the highest rates of business growth in the world etc etc. Whether you support these things or not, it shows freedom. U.S is definitely years in front of the UK at the moment. We are still here with a monarch run like it’s the 1700’s or something. With new laws being introduced everyday that only tear down our livelihoods. Our govt. doesn’t listen to the people.
      I respect America for taking lead of the world.

      @@leanneedwards3047 Thanks for the respectful post. I see your points, disagree in some respects. We didn’t write the Magna Carta, we can’t claim Shakespeare, Churchill renounced his us citizenship. We are less than 300 years old. A pup. We are a magnet for brain talent but we don’t know what the hell we are doing. The colonies look to Britain but big bro has failed. That will ripple.

    • @leanneedwards3047
      @leanneedwards3047 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@BillyWhaler hey thanks for the reply. you are indeed correct with your points, but I feel like honestly the time we are living in right now is a turning point. Sure the U.S is quite young but growth is occurring rapidly with its short age. I think the role of big brother for the U.K is turning into an elderly brother who can’t keep up as fast lol. All we have to show is history and the way we operate is turning the people against policymakers. The U.S is definitely a leader as of right now and will continue to strengthen that role through years to come.
      Fun to right my thoughts out with a stranger. Thanks for letting my brain turn some cogs today. Have a good day man
