Peter Capaldi has been my favorite of the whole series, in any iteration. I'd put him right up there with Tom Baker with his ability to seem human enough to keep you off-guard while still being truly 'alien.' And of the modern series' Doctors, he's probably the biggest fan of the original series and it shows in how his performance blends elements of those earlier Doctors with the modern show's more action-adventure aesthetic.
Nothing would make me happier than for him to start recording with Big Finish and do some multi-Doctor stories.

"Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Doctor... I let you go."
That moment even almost 5 years later, still kills me. Not only because my favorite Doctor was leaving, but because this line almost seemed to be breaking the fourth wall.
It was as if Peter Capaldi himself, the lifelong Doctor Who fan, and former President of a Doctor Who Fan Club was saying goodbye to the character he'd dreamt of playing since he was a child. Similar sort of energy to David Tennant's "I don't wanna go."

"He's a comin." Other Doctors have commented on 'sensing' the change, and the new Doctor forming. McGann's Eight directly participates in forming it, Peter's new Twelve 'chose' a face to remind himself of his task. I like the through-line of the Doctors looking back over their lives and reminding themselves (their new selves) of their task, their nature and their goal. You get the impression that something like the Valeyard could be an artificial regeneration where that didn't happen, allowing all the Doctor's worst instincts into the fore. But Peter really nails this. He knows what's coming and steps into it with this lovely reminder of his life, his principles and greeting to his upcoming self, just as he personally lets go of a role he had wanted for so many years.

It’s funny how Moffat’s era started with The Doctor hanging on to the TARDIS for dear life and ended with The Doctor falling from the TARDIS.

Peter wasn’t my first Doctor. Matt Smith was. But 12 became MY Doctor. His charisma and older, wiser side made me fall in love with him. And as a musician myself, he was the rock n roll Doctor! 12’s TARDIS was my favorite too. A lot of his tenure showed his past selves from Classic Who and made me appreciate those Doctors. Above all else, 12 taught me this: To be kind.

The "Let's do this right" feels like Capaldi read the first go of the script and just thought...No, let's punch this up.
He IS a long time fan after all.

13 down last one to go tomorrow!
Can't believe this episode is almost 5 years old, Capaldi was an amazing Doctor even then this episode gave us a lot to offer, not only it's the last Christmas special we ever had but the last time Murray Gold composed aswell as Steven Moffat's departure, I've seen many 12th Doctor episodes including Heaven Sent but this one by far reached its peak for Doctor Who, that's of course was shortly lived when Chibnall took over the show but pushing that aside I'm glad we'll see the end of his work tomorrow...

Kinda funny to me how the 13th Doctor went on to do the things 12 said not to.
"Never be cruel." - removed the Master's perception filter, revealing his skin color to the Nazi's.
"Never be cowardly." Literally doesn't argue or give a second thought to letting the old guy sacrifice himself to destroy Gallifrey and the Cyber-Lords.
"And never, ever eat pears!" - Well... at least she listened to one thing he said!

I know a lot of female fans who identify with The Doctor, not with his female companions. It was a dream of so many people - to finally see The Doctor played by a woman. And Jodie Whittaker was brilliant, instantly recognisable as The Doctor, she did a great job... Too bad the writing was awful and the show went downhill because of it. This regeneration of The Doctor deserved so much better. My favourite eras remain Tennant and Capaldi.

Truly hope jodie is given the chance at a speech to giver her doctor a proper farewell. For all the faults and issues fans have had with her run as the doctor (not her fault directly) she deserves to give her doctor a proper goodbye and hand it to whoever is next David Tennant or Ncuti Gatwa.

Never be cruel, never be cowardly... and never, ever eat pears! Remember...hate is always foolish...and love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind. Oh, and you mustn’t tell anyone your name. No one would understand it, anyway. Except... Except children. Children can hear it... sometimes... if their hearts are in the right place, and the stars are, too. Children can hear your name. Agh! But nobody else. Nobody else, ever.
