I know what you mean bri. I'm Mexican and I moved to Dallas in 2000. Eddie Nájera was on the team and it felt great seeing him out there compete. He didn't get to JJs level but him being on the team is the reason I became a Mavs fan.

I saw the last game of the Finals projected on a big screen right in front of the mayor's office. They basically had to shut downtown because of how many people were watching the game and celebrating after the win.
They had 1 guest with a crappy mic and this dude making out like its happening every week, they even said sorry at the start bruh. Its a free podcast and all you wanna do is complain.
Seen guys like Amar'e and Brandon Jennings and Scola and Jimmer come play. From the stands you can pretty much interact with the players. Funny story, we chirped a lackadaisical Jennings and he flipped the switch, hit a bunch of buckets to.put the game out of reach, and did the big balls dance staring us down then smiling. Amare even came out to a pub after a game, and you're like, dude, this is one of the basketball titans of the era I grew up in and he's this easy going… From the team here met Dakari Johnson and Jonathan Gibson who are both super down to earth, cool dudes. Honestly gives you a totally different perspective of what these hoopers are like in real life. Before I met those guys, Terrence Jones had a brief tenure here (before the team parted ways with him), and you'd hear some funny stories of him champagning and campaigning in local clubs China's not an easy environment for everyone to adapt to, add in playing on a team with a max of 2 foreign players, living in hotels, going to random little cities, limited friends and family, and it gives you a real respect for these guys playing part of their professional careers over here and in other leagues abroad
JJ barea plays with so much toughness. Earned everything he’s gotten especially the 2011 title against Miami. Type of guy you root for. Keep up the great work To both JJ’s! ✊🏽

Go look at what the greats do during the off season and how they train/diet etc. I remember Jordan saying, he can't wait to get a beer belly.
