What a phenomenal group of masters these guys are / were. And Carl is my all-time favorite rock drummer. As a drummer I can’t begin to imagine the courage and confidence it takes to toss your sticks behind your back during a drum solo before a packed theater with thousands of people watching. I’ve never seen him drop a stick. And playing like a rocket engine. Amazing,
I remember well when Asia was formed and that first album came out in ‘82. It was stunning. Wildest Dreams was quickly my favorite because of that drum solo. Carl Palmer is a consummate amazing drummer. Highly under-rated.
They decorated all the generals Who fought the wars behind the lines They had forgotten all the soldiers The brandy put them way behind the times One of the best lyrics ever.
Kurt Colville yeah, he does. I’m a drummer and in my youth was a big fan of his due to the chops and speed but anymore I cringe when he rushes as keeping solid time is the first job of any drummer
Gee, Carl - playing for Asia and throwing a little "Tank" (ELP) into your solo?!? I thought it was great but I was waiting for Keith's Modular Moog to kick in there at the end! Oh, and Greg - not too shabby either! You guys should have adapted more to the 80's sound and ELP might not have buckled back then. Oh, well.
Bill Bruford, Tony Williams, Matt Cameron.. there are and have been many great drummers.. no point in top 5 lists. A top 50 list without order might make sense but this obsession with ranking things or people is really unnecessary.
Check out Yes at the Lugano Jazz Fest in Switzerland- 2004. The whole show is on here. Chris Squire was still with us and Steve Howe was amazing. Alan White was solid as usual and Jon Anderson was still hitting the highs. Great show! I recommend headphones or cranking it on a good sound system.
David Bonnema what an idiotic statement, lad. Are you just fucking coming to after a bad crack hit, man? go change your filthy underwear and for god sake wash your hands....
Greg Lake, one of my favorite rock vocalist of all time!!
wetton and greg lake both favorites of mine. there work with king crimson and lakes elp , wettons uk /asia awesome stuff
It's hard to believe that Carl is the only one still left on earth! Not one of the best drummers ever, IS THE BEST,
howe and downes still alive too!
I called ELP the 3 Wise Men
Steve Howe and Geoff Downs are still with us. John Wetton passed in 2017.

CARL PALMER ONE OF THE BEST DRUMMERS EVER!!!!!

I was at one of their concerts at Wembley Arena shortly after they formed.....it was awesome! Palmers percussion incredible!
GO CARL GO!
They decorated all the generals
Who fought the wars behind the lines
They had forgotten all the soldiers
The brandy put them way behind the times
One of the best lyrics ever.
The whole song is a lyrical gold mine.
Love it❤. Ghazala from Pakistan
Lake, Wetton genius!
Love Asia.
That snare head, I feel for it.
Epic.
Very cool
Excelente, génial.
Wow!
間違いなくこの会場にいましたww
Yes & ELP joined together!
今見ると、ジェフ・ダウンズのキーボードの並べ方が斬新。右へ左へ動き回って大変だ。
Greg Lake bass and vocal..... nice
Heh, 4:45-5:02, Geoff and Steve looking back at Carl, wondering, ‘Yikes, are you gonna get back to the right tempo?’ Got a little excited there.

Kurt Colville Carl has great chops and technique but is rusher
Bob Loblaw Huh, interesting. I didn’t know he rushed in general.
Kurt Colville yeah, he does. I’m a drummer and in my youth was a big fan of his due to the chops and speed but anymore I cringe when he rushes as keeping solid time is the first job of any drummer

Wish to cee in mtl soon
that isn't john wetton. it is greg lake.
Yes it is Asia at it's finest 👍
yep ... this concert was Dec. 6, 1983 .... and, acc. to wikipedia Lake did not do very many gigs w Asia ....
I like Greg Lake don't get me wrong but John Wetton should have been here.
I agree, but he was in rehab at this point for his alcoholism. I have heard some bootlegs from this era, and he was really rough to listen too.
Needed more cowbell but otherwise a pretty good drum solo!
5 greatest drummers of all time: Neil Peart, Buddy Guy, Carl Palmer, Mitch Mitchell, Keith Moon .....
Add Buddy Rich, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Simon Phillips, Carmine Appice's, Vinnie Colauita. . . 😊

YOu can tell Steve Howe isn't used to having to talk to the audience there.
Steve Howe is so underated.

Keith on keyboard would have been grand.
Sorry but, Greg Lake is not John Wetton. They fucked up by replacing him on this tour.
What the hell were they thinking?
If I had to replace John Wetton with someone, Greg Lake would be my number one choice.
Most anyone can domnate Bonham. He was very boring and never changed up.
David Bonnema what an idiotic statement, lad. Are you just fucking coming to after a bad crack hit, man? go change your filthy underwear and for god sake wash your hands....
Because no one is allowed to have an opinion other than you? Liberal logic 101
Keith on keyboard would have been grand.
