And the quality of the performances and recording are always striking. Where did the bands record them and who were the engineers? There’s nothing sloppy about them. Energetic, yes. But clean and lethal

@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown I was told by one of the engineers at BBC Maida Vale studios-where the sessions were recorded, that John Peel himself never made an appearance at the recordings, apart from one occasion, when Jimi Hendrix recorded for him.
So lucky to have sen them live at the Lyceum in London in the early 80s. What had been a posey arty gig of Pink Military and Lilliput and the like turned into a massive pogo riot when KJ came on. Never seen anything like it before or since. Brilliant.
Thanks for posting. This is giving me courage to fight an extremely difficult person who is in a position of power over me. The accusation is correct!!!

Wish to Christ the BBC would get their finger out of their arse, do something decent for a change and give this and subsequent sessions the vinyl release they deserve.
They are released on C.D along with various other peel sessions they did. Vinyl would be cool though . I did contact Strange Fruit many yrs ago but was told its very difficult to release some sessions as various labels & or management & band members wouldn't always allow it.
RIP Geordie 😢
John Peel's sessions are priceless documents of great music of the late 20th and early 21st century across various genres and eras!

@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown why would you choose to write at so much length about a topic about which you clearly know nothing at all?
God bless John, the sessions and THE KILLING JOKE!
There's not many bands that could not be copied as the sound was all their own; this is one of them!
1919 had a good go at recreating the 1980's KJ sound.
@@kipcollins4727 yes indeed, but KJ are the original ones ;)

Probably the most intense version of Wardance I've heard

I heard all this on the ZM ALL NIGHTER' in 81' with Barry Jenkins NZ's John Peel priceless material!!!
Great times
Always wondered why the cut the drum bass intro to WARDANCE.
Youth's Rickenbacker bass sounds like hell..But beautiful at the same time.
John Peel for president in heaven.
John Peel is still playing music that even god hasn't heard before.
Shame he was felated by a 13 yo girl.
Love this

Geordie, Paul and Youth used to have such fine heads of hair.
Going to see the mighty KJ tomorrow night :)
When I die from excessive/compulsive masturbatory behaviours I will get to heaven - only to realize that John Peel is God´s DJ !
this comment is underrated
OMG these guys are good. Must have scoffed them off as a pre-teen in the early 80's.
Hate the term "interesting". Always found it patronising. But these guys have my interest.
K.J. having a hiatus but world is waiting for what's next, no pressure😉
KJ have gigs coming up in USA / UK / Europe +? & another live album - cd / vinyl & dvd due soon.
@@honourethefire5794 Thanks HTF, now that's what I call good news. Cheers.
no problem
but the chinese had a killing joker up their sleeve HaHAHAHAHa
Simply impossible to pigeonhole , nothing quite like them before or after , accept no substitute .
First saw 'em in 1980. One of the many bands around then that blew my mind.
"I am the Virus" is recent proof of their incredible staying power
