New Orleans Mardi Gras Parades - When and Where?

- Every year, New Orleans is home to dozens of parades of many different kinds. Some travelers plan all year to attend them, but struggle to choose what to attend or how to find dates they can afford; some travelers angle for a quiet visit weeks away from Mardi Gras, but accidentally land right in the middle of the action.
In this video, Andrew shares the basics of the yearly calendar - what happens when, where to plan to see parades, and how to figure out which parades you'll enjoy most.
Parade calendars:

Went to New Orleans twice last year. Once for Mardi Gras, then again for Halloween. What blast. I know everyone always love the big parades, but if I may, I would like to hype the Tucks Krewe. They were fun, threw us lots of stuff and most of them really interacted with us the most. Have fun and be safe y’all and I’ll see y’all next year!
I was lucky to be there last year for an internship program, it was one of my best experiences ever. I'll keep Mardi Grass and its memories always in my heart.
Glad that you enjoyed the video Sebastian. Mardi Grass is indeed a memorable experience. If you haven't already done so, hopefully, you can check out our other virtual tours of New Orleans ruclips.net/p/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.There is more where this came from.
I was lucky enough to catch Eris several years ago! Truly felt blessed
Love you guys! Y’all are the best therapy anyone could have!
Thanks for the kind words Todd. Glad you liked it.
Mardi Gras Day - I’ve never heard it called that. Fat Tuesday or just Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) as in “Mardi Gras / Fat Tuesday falls on Feb 21st this year.”
Got down there for the celebration in ‘98. It was amazing. My neck still hurts when I look up.

Lol, I just bought five books and forgot to put my name on it! I thanked y’all for basically showing me your home and made it feel like mine. Best wishes my friends.

South Mississippi has some great parades too! We live part time in Pass Christian and our little town of 6000 gets really big for one day!

If you can't make it all the way to New Orleans, head to St. Louis. They have the 2nd largest Mardi Gras Parade and it's not too shabby.
Thanks for the parade break down! To see the Black Indians where are they usually in Uptown? What time do they come out? Before or after the Krewe of Zulu? Also who has the best throws besides them and the coconuts on Mardi Gras day? And last question, which ones are more kid friendly if staying in the QTR? Of course alot will be seen by foot. Any activities happening in Congo Square or the L.A. Park in general at this time? Thanks! And keep doing what you're doing! I love your content!
Black masking Indians come out as early as dawn. Peak action late morning/early afternoon. Uptown gathering spots are 2nd/dryades and Washington/LaSalle

How do I make sure my tour is with Andrew if I book through FTBF? 😅🤩
Hey there! I actually give tours pretty irregularly these days - I step on and help when my colleagues need it. So neither I nor the management know very far ahead when I'll be on board. But I might see you on a French Quarter or Garden District tour, and one way or another, I can promise you're in good hands - I've learned a ton of what I know from the rest of the team, and they know lots of stuff I don't - it just so happens that I'm the ham who likes to be in front of the camera. Thanks for asking and for watching!
I didn’t know that Joan of Arc bday was January 6th nice little fact Andrew
I figured out the last weekend b 4 Fat Tuesday was the best time to b there
Mardi Gras c'est le 21 février 2023... A bientôt les Cajuns....
Remember to watch the weather forecast; you might need a coat, or shorts & t-shirt. In case of rain, you may want to pack a single use rain poncho.
