- This is the story of Orapan, a skater girl from Thailand who grew up in Belgium. Member of the Thail National Team she is an inspiration for a lot of girls and women.
I came to visit her in Bangkok and i wanted to give her a opportunity to participate in @JackalopeFest in Mississauga 2024.

when she said she doesn't belong it reminded me of this Rodney Mullen quote:

That hit home on so many levels. Everyone I knew who skated with me during my teens and early adulthood came into skateboarding for those exact reasons and it saved many of us from so much pain. It was our way of escaping and not going down paths that would've ruined us. Forever grateful that my sister stopped using her skateboard and I managed to snag it at age 7-8.
I think she is saying when she saying she does not feel like she belong its more of a identify crises being half Thai ( Luk korn) in which she will be reminded everyday of her life from the Thais that she is a Luk Korn and will be accepted but not as accepted ..

You have to check in your board in your luggage. Or just bring the trucks and wheel and buy a board there! They usually allow on the plane with it

Memories of my youth 45 years ago. My wife is Thai and we have a house in Bangkok as well as Australia. I will refrain from visiting the skate parks, 20 year old mind in a 60 year old body is not a good combination. I don't bounce on the pavement as well as I used to. I am happy to see the parks are open to all, not just the rich kids.😅

@@Theskatenomad I can if I dare. I do more motorcycle touring in my old age. Since the age of 40 I have ridden thousands of kilometres around Thailand, across into Laos and the Northern Border with Myanmar known as 'The Golden Triangle'. Still surfing as well, when you grew up in Sydney, then moved north to live next to an uncrowded beach, it's very difficult to get the beach out of the boy (stops me getting fat on Thai food also).

Question for you @skatenomad -- How do you travel with a skateboard through airports and customs? do you only build your boards once you've arrived in locations or disassemble them? I'm looking to get back into skating but moving so trying to figure out what's best. Appreciate any tips from you or anyone! Big love 🧡🛹🌟
Hey man! I have my own travel skatebag that i check in. That’s what i recommended, if not just buy a board where you going and bring your own trucks and wheels
