Man,hands down one of the quickest but thorough directions I've seen on any RUclips instructional video, thanks man. You helped a ton. Straight to the point
I am a 39 year old widow that is clueless. I watched this vudeo twice. Very specific perfect video for anyone. My problem was the belt wasnt even around the drum so with wire hanger i pulled it around drum and didnt even have to remove drum. Thank u so much
Nice video however there are a couple things to note. It is a good idea to remove the belt by accessing it through the small access panel on the back panel by moving belt tensioner to the left once the panel is removed. It is almost impossible to remove the drum the way this video shows. Instead of trying to lift the drum off of the bearing housing just remove the three screws holding the drum onto the bearing plate. You will remove them from inside the drum at the rear center of the drum they are the 3 screws closest to the center. Another thing it is possible to do this all solo by putting grease on the little ball bearing so it stays in place, then use duct tape to hold the small plate that goes on the outside of the dryer. I put one screw in 3/4 of the way thenturned the retainer plate clockwise a 1/4 turn and installed the small bearing with grease on it. Once the bearing is in place return the retainer plate to correct position hold it in place with duct tape and put the 2nd screw in and tighten both to desired tightness. Piece of cake.
I did it! Two additional tips if you are alone. Take off the three screws holding the bearing on to the drum and then it's easy to get the drum out by yourself and then take out the plastic bearing holder. When you put it back on by starting one screw of the three it will align the others so you can screw them in. The only thing left for another person is to hold the ball bearing in the back while you screw the plastic bearing cup from the front. Very awesome instructions. I can't thank you enough.
I watched this and followed this to replace the bearing , this is simple and very good. We had trouble with aligning the tub. We finally removed the top(six screws) and then on the first try aligned and placed the drum in place. We replaced the felt upper and lower also. our first time to repair. the best part about your video everything thing we needed to know as in the video. Thank you
Great tutorial! THANK YOU! Followed to a T (and also replaced my heating coil, which broke, went supernova and started a lint fire) - no more squeaking! My only tweak: it was super hard getting the drum out of the bearing housing, so I just removed the 3 screws holding the drum to the bearing plate, took the drum out, then lifted the bearing out of the housing. Seems much easier that way :) (Also, don't forget the last 4 screws in the back!)
yeah I had a friend who was suppose to stop over to help me but heck I will just use this to guide me through . He is not a real good friend it is becoming obvious.
Great Video. Just finished doing this job. Just remember to replace those top back 4 screws. I think if you do it before putting the drum on it might make getting the drum on easier since the back and sides will be more stable. Excellent video!
After watching this video I found a bearing replacement kit for 20 bucks on amazon. Finished the replacement in a little over an hour. All fixed. Thanks.
After watching your video, we followed the steps. It fixed the drum bearing, we only needed to change the white plaster part. Thank you very much, you saved us hundreds of dollars. Naik Johal
Thank you! I was about to totally take my dryer apart to access the belt. All I needed to do was open the access panel that you showed in your video and put the belt back on the drive and reset the tensor. You saved me hours of extra work.
Thank you. Of all the repair videos and even the factory manual, your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Great job. My techie grandson even put his phone down and got into it.
Thanks for this! I followed it and watched it carefully, using it as a step-by-step, once I received the product in the mail. My dryer now runs reasonably quietly, again. (No more leaving the house while the dryer is on! Yikes.) I've used these guides to repair the washer portion of the stackable, as well. These videos have saved me a ton of time and effort. Kudos, good brother!
This was great. I took it all apart by myself except lifting the drum, which two of us couldn't. My friend did the same removal of three screws to take the drum off of the bearing. I was worried the bearing would fall and damage the plastic wire brackets, etc., but it went well. Thank you. In the end, high temperature lubricant on that small movable wheel for the belt stopped the sqealing. The bearing was fine, but looked badly in need of fresh lubricant after 15 years...preventative maintenance then. What a job!
Just finished with the dryer replacing all parts from an OEM kit. Remember to vacuum everything! The entire interior should be clean of lint, especially behind the drum and heating coil. Really good video BTW.
@@governorjervon I found my oem kit on zoro.com. The kit is very complete, including the felt which the drum rides on. It was about $39, which is outstanding.
Thank you so much, using your video I was able to take my Frigidaire apart and replace a bunch of stuff. $200 in parts and it’s quieter than it’s been since we moved in (it came with the house). Better than having to replace it, because nothing else would fit in its place and these laundry centers are more expensive than I expected to replace.

Thank you SO MUCH for this video! This video saved my life lol my dryer was so nosey after changing the belt and after finding this video after buying new bearing NO MORE SQUEAK!!!
Thank you So Much Johnathon!!! Awesome tutorial. I'm hoping the squeak coming from the dryer is just the belt (as someone from the Appliance Section of a store that I won't mention, advised me). But if it's NOT the belt, I trust that I will definitely be able to fix whatever the problem is, due to this video. Thanks again!
thanks for the vid, I'm in a rental and the dryer stained the wife's white pants and I could see what looked like rusty lint through the holes in the back of the drum. Took out a few screws from there, and I'm sure you can guess what happened. Was able to pull the drum, clean it out and reinstall with your vid. Though I did need to take the top cover loose to be able to get the ball into the bearing.
Very good video, thank you! Everything very well explained, step by step. I think I have the exact same model and its very noisy. I may not attempt to fix it, seems very involved and I may just not have the time and skills required but the video is great and helped me see that its not just a couple of screws and you are done. Thanks!!!
Awesome video & job Johnathon. Hope you are still doing great and in the business. My stackable Kenmore gas dryer began making a whoosh, whoosh, whoosh noise with each turning of the drum. Not a squeak. I am going to use it for some light loads and see what comes of it. Maybe try pulling front panels off and cleaning lint, look around. Your video has given me some confidence I can put it all back together again. Hopefully the screws are all the same! Ill take photos as I go. :-)
Really good video. I have a very similar unit that had some screws with a square indent as opposed to Philips's head but luckily my toolset carried it. I also had a big issue removing the drum but as someone suggested I just removed the screws and it exposed the area that needed to be worked on. I also took someone's advice about taping the new parts in place with duct tape as opposed to finding an assistant. The biggest problem was replacing the drum belt as it was in horrible condition. I got one from a local parts dealer and even though the part was noted as being correct it was just a tad too small. Parts stores being what they deal with thought I was not installing it correctly but a comparison between the old and new belt showed that the new one was actually too small. The parts boss did some hunting and eventually came up with the correct one. I strongly suggest comparing the old vs new on hand, because it looks like the online stores have the wrong dryer belt noted for my old (GE 2004) unit. The dryer is working now.
Only complaint is that I could not see what screws we’re going we’re at some points and could not quite tell where the little top center black plastic bracket went. I took off my entire top before attempting this and then seeking help. Needless to say this video was a lot of help! Thanks for the videos, cheers! Thank you thank you thank you…
I decided to replace the felt pads. I read that they can lead to holes in your clothes. I've had holes appear in my socks, and I think it's from the wash/dry cycle. I hope it's the felt pads. If so, this was a repair worth doing. Right now I am just waiting for the adhesive to dry. I have less than 5 more minutes to go. Also your video was helpful in helping me replace the drive belt and drum bearing. I've had a high pitched noise during drying cycles. I hope this will help with that sound. Also I went ahead and replaced the blower wheel. I ordered the parts from Repair Clinic. My only complaint about the parts they sent me is that the drive belt is 88.75" long. It really should be 91.75" long. It causes so much tension on the pulley. Anyway, time to wrestle with putting the front cover back on. This is gonna be a pain in the butt. I did this last weekend when realizing I needed both upper and lower felt pieces.
Okay, I feel fully capable of doing this on my own except for putting the first belt back into place while reassembling the dryer... how do I know if it is in the right position?
Hey Johnathon , great video ! Very detailed. Could you post the link where you got the kit from? I checked sears website but they don’t offer the kit. 🙏🏼
@@victoria653 thanks again, i ordered the kit from Amazon $30 and the belt from searsdirect lije $15 because the belt from Amazon didn't fit. Took me 2 hours and my unit works like new! Thanks again for the great video!
This is great and was very helpful and now I've replaced the bearing and glide kit but dryer now has a bad vibration that starts up after about 20 mins of running. The drum turns free by hand when its cold but if I stop the machine when the vibration is happening and I try to turn the drum by hand there is a lot of resistance. I'm thinking something is heating up and expanding? Any thoughts on what that could be? Maybe I put the glide kit in wrong? Maybe the felt seal needs replacing?
Your video is very helpful. The problem I am having with my Kenmore Laundry center is that the dryer just stopped mid-cycle. When I turn the power switch to on, I can hear the machine making a noise like it wants to work but then it clangs. I removed the access cover in the back and the belt does not appear broken. I tried to rotate the belt but even with lots of effort it wouldn't move. I tried to spin the bin from the front and it wouldn't move. What do you think the problem is?
It doesn't move at all?. Does it sound like it's stuck? Only way to really know would be to open it up and check it out. It sounds like something is probably stuck in the blower. Let me know
love the video! this is exactly what i am doing. one question, what was the reason for rmoving the four screws on the top of the BACK of the dryer?? I understand the removal of the four front on top???? just wondering?
Last month I replaced the blower wheel, drum bearing, felt seals, and drive belt on the dryer in my stacker unit. I ordered my parts from Repair Clinic, and I was pleased with the quality of the parts, but the drive belt seemed to be too short. I should have just measured it right away. It was definitely an inch too short. I was stubborn and went ahead and used it. There was a lot of tension on the pulley because of it. The drive belt needed to be 88.75" but was at least an inch shorter. Anyway, the problem I ended up having is that I was running a dryer cycle last night, and it quit mid-cycle. I was upstairs so I didn't hear what happened. 2 of the screws fell out though for the drum bearing. I feel like the problem is related to not having the correct belt. From your experience do you think that I am correct, or is it something else? I am a large guy at 6'5" and 280 lbs, and I can tell you that it wasn't easy to rotate the drum when I tried to align the belt with the incorrect length. Edit: I got the replacement belt from Amazon, and I am so very pleased with how the dryer sounds now. I'll keep an eye on the screws, but I think everything is good. Edit (2): Being a Sears product, I simply found my unit on their site. Then I found the part number there for the drive belt before ordering a replacement from Amazon. Also the prices on Repair Clinic are absurd in comparison to Amazon. What you're really paying for on their site is a link to the DIY tutorial imho and probably their customer service. It could be worth it to those who need those video tutorials and otherwise have no clue how to find them. Edit (3): While the prices are high on Repair Clinic I do have to say that their customer service is excellent. I did call them about the dryer drive belt, and they shipped me a replacement that arrived first thing this Tuesday morning. Not bad considering I called them on a Sunday. Also when I called them they were good in explaining that there could have been an issue in their warehouse with where the part was stored so they were going to use my case to correct that issue. I've had 2 calls with them, and each person who answered was very professional and knowledgeable. So if you need more (video walkthrough and top notch American phone support) than just a part they are an excellent option. Also they ship OEM parts. I'd also like to add that they shipped a replacement but did not ask for the other part in return.
what are those black plastic blocks at the top of the front of the machine which assist at keeping the drum from moving excessively? It was screwed to the front top when you removed the front door. Where would you get one?

Okay, I feel fully capable of doing this on my own except for putting the first belt back into place while reassembling the dryer... how do I know if it is in the right position?
Its really easy just take pictures before you take it apart
Thanks! Should there be anything holding that pulley for the belt on? Mine slipped off while I was pulling it aside.
Thank you so much! I found this video super helpful!!!
Huge help!! Thank you very much for the video. Saved me so much time!
Very excellent, makes everyone an ace!
Thank you. It is very good video. Could you tell me what is the part number for complete repair kit?
this is very helpful, i just fix my 2004 kenmore. thank you for the video.
Thanks for the comment!
Hey Johnathon , great video ! Very detailed. Could you post the link where you got the kit from? I checked sears website but they don’t offer the kit. 🙏🏼
Hey! Just type your model number into an appliance website, form there you can look the parts up on amazon or ebay! Good luck
@@victoria653 thanks again, i ordered the kit from Amazon $30 and the belt from searsdirect lije $15 because the belt from Amazon didn't fit. Took me 2 hours and my unit works like new! Thanks again for the great video!
@@garik1018 great to heat! Probably saved yourself a bunch of money
Great video, where can I get these kits?
The belt on my dryer just gave out, going to go with your video to open it apart and figure out what the cause is; dirty laundry is stacking lol
Thanks Bruh you help me make my wife happy😎
Your video is very helpful. The problem I am having with my Kenmore Laundry center is that the dryer just stopped mid-cycle. When I turn the power switch to on, I can hear the machine making a noise like it wants to work but then it clangs. I removed the access cover in the back and the belt does not appear broken. I tried to rotate the belt but even with lots of effort it wouldn't move. I tried to spin the bin from the front and it wouldn't move. What do you think the problem is?
great video, thank you! my dryer just makes noise but doesn't move do you think it's the belt ?
It doesn't move at all?. Does it sound like it's stuck? Only way to really know would be to open it up and check it out. It sounds like something is probably stuck in the blower. Let me know
You can just open that small back panel in the video if you have the similar model and check the belt and idler pulley.
That's a good video but I need to know if it's making the same noise my dryer is making
Great video and sound track
love the video! this is exactly what i am doing. one question, what was the reason for rmoving the four screws on the top of the BACK of the dryer?? I understand the removal of the four front on top???? just wondering?
The reason for removing the top back screws is because sometimes the drum is hard to get out especially if the bearing is badly damaged.
@@victoria653 but if the bearing is not real bad then maybe I can skip?
Thanks a lot very helpful video. Know I'll try to change the washer belt👍👌
Where would you get one?
great video, what was the part number for the kit for the stackable Kenmore? my next project
