Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am a senior citizen that is under quarantine with a 13 year old dryer with a bad bearing. The noise was horrible. I watched your video to diagnose the problem. Then I ordered the part which arrived in a few days. It took me two (2) hours from start to finish, including time to watch the video again before I started. The hardest part was treading the new plate. I actually cornered a worker in the neighborhood to help. He used a drill with a square bit on it and threaded the new plate with the old screw. I also used painters tape to hold the plate on the back when I attached the new bearing assembly; my arms aren't long enough to reach the back of the dryer while inserting the screw to the inside of the drum. All fixed and very quiet.
Just finished installing mine and it was easier than expected. Follow the steps and everything will work out perfectly. Thank you very much for sharing this How To video, I appreciate it a lot
Seriously. What a great video. I was getting crazy grinding metal sounds from my Frigidaire dryer. Ordered the kit from amazon for about $23 ( before I saw their video otherwise I would have ordered it from them ), followed their video and viola, my dryer is working perfectly and QUIETLY... An easy fix and it also made me realize how simple dryers are. Thank you so much AppliancePartsPros.
@@scottttttttttttttttttt I honestly would have, but I’d already ordered the kit and had it in my possession. Oh, and 7 months in and it still works perfectly...😊
Awesome video! A lifesaver. Describes the exact sequence to dismantle and repair the rear drum bearing. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much.
Very helpful video! It may be 7 yrs old, but my Frigidaire had the exact same drum kit. My bearing lube dries up recently and the drum's ball shaft ate away into the plastic housing, eventually grinding into the metal bracket. Now she's good as new! Saved me $800!
Excellent, clear and easy to follow. Husband and I (both total noobies) fixed our squeaky dryer in a couple of hours, without killing each other at all! Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
The new big bearing plate I installed today, 12/16/2017, came with machine threaded screws and the plate was pre-threaded. Things have changed a little and any new viewer should look at their new parts. Don’t ruin the new plate by trying to use the old screws or by making new threads. The advice given in the video was great advice when it was made but the new parts are different. Look at the new parts and be careful to use the new machine threaded screws and the pre-threaded holes in the plate. Many thanks for this wonderful video.
Don't know if you guys will see this but thanks for the video. I didn't learn much from my father in terms of being a handy man so this video is really dumbed down for people like me and it makes life so much easier. I've come back to this video several times to fix my dryer 👍
Glad to hear you were able to fix your dryer. If we can help you with anything in the future please let us know and we will be more than happy to help you out.
Bruce Coy It looks like you Referred to this video recently… It says four days ago. I see you some other comments that say the kit was now pre-threaded and not to use old screws. We have the stackable laundry center. It sounds like for you that it was not pre-threaded. I guess we will find out when we get the kit later today...fingers crossed.
Thank you for this video!! I have a stackable front loading dryer that I had to replace the glide on. We could not for the life of us figure out how to remove the 2-part front panel, the bottom section was mystifying us for hours. You are a life saver!!

This is great. I watched the video, ordered the kit and it showed up the next morning. The repair went pretty smoothly and now I have a quiet dryer. Thanks!
GREAT VIDEO! I like that you are detailed and logical in your presentation. I especially like that you added the tips of pre-threading the ball-hitch unit and lubing the grounding-ball-bearing to hold it in place...(I am sure i would have spent 12 minutes looking for the ball on the floor or in the unit....THANKS!)
This video helped get the squeak out of the dryer. Of the few I sampled this was the best. I will say it helps to have 2 people, the guy in the video is a Gerfalcon of Dryer Repair!
Great tutorial, thank you! I run into the issue trying to removing one of the three screw that holding ball hitch to the drum. Not turning at all, the philips head is striped by previous person who was tried to remove. I need to figure how to do it, so I can replace the bearing kit.
Thanks!👍 I’ve got to order the kit and want to go ahead and replace the belt while I have it apart. As a Preventive Maintenance job, should I lube drum roller axles and also the belt pulley axles/bearings? Should I use the lubricant included or white lithium grease?
👍 Thanks! I do have a question. I have an older FDE216RES1. Not quite the same but you got me through it! At 4:32 you took off the bracket support. The support on mine does NOT have a lip on it so the bracket doesn’t actually support the drum. The front panel slides into the drum for support. I looked on your website but don’t see anything like it. Can your people let me know the correct part for this model? Thanks again!
Matt, I have a Frigidaire Gas Dryer FSG747GES1, with a drum belt with duel/two idler (pulleys) spring loaded. How do I safely/easily unload these two pulleys to remove and install a new brum belt? Thanks you so much for your indepth instructional videos. Another question. Righ now I can't afford a repair kit so Can I use Red "N" Tacky Grease to lube the drum rear bearing after a major clean up?
Thanks! Great video, you presented everything so clear and the best - when you attached your camera to the drum showing how ti install the ball :) Impressive.
Thank you very much, this video helped a lot to replace the bearing of the fridgedaire dryer. One quick question, at the end of it I noticed that small ball bearing seems to little out & to the side, may be because I have tightened those screws hard. Dryer works fine, but wondering if that is going to affect the speed of drum or break down the line. Appreciate any suggestions on it.
My dryer is a Frigidaire of a slightly different model than this. After taking the drum out, I find there are two different kinds/colors of grease in the main bearing: a light grayish around the entire outside of the base of the shaft, and black on the big ball itself. Is that just degradation after years of runtime, or should I be concerned that I'm going to need to lubricate these two different places with two different greases?
What type of grease goes in the support bearing? I am replacing heating element on stackable dryer and my bearing is ok ,just want to lube it up while drum is off ! Thanks
I have a Frigidaire dryer that makes a rumbling noise after it runs for about 10 minutes. Once because the ball joint assembly was gone and the second time was just for precaution since I had to disassemble it to clean it and to tighten up some screws. Anyhow, my question is, what in the hell is that small little bearing for! Does it have a purpose at all? I mean, it is not a grease hole so what does it do???? Great video by the way!
+Jaime Venegas Glad the video helped you get the dryer fixed! The bearing is like a spacer, it keeps the drum from sliding front to back while it is running.
Ah!!! Ok!!! Thanks! You know, I have a stackable washer/dryer and the dryer hangs a little from the front so the pads on the bottom don't actually touch the support frame located on the door. Well I bet that didn't work. The nylon cup that the bearing sits in wears down and then it is metal on metal. Properly replacing the bearing will allow it to be quiet for another 10+ years.
GREAT VIDEO!!! Should the belt be replaced while you have the dryer all apart? I would think if the bearing is worn out, the belt would be worn out as well.
We decided to replace the belt for that exact reason. The old one didn't seem too worn, but for $10 for a new belt especially while the whole thing was torn apart we figured it was worth putting a new one in so we didn't need to take it apart again just for a belt.

If the front support glides are worn it will cause the front of the drum to drop and you may have a gap that clothes can get pinched in.
