    I'm enchanted! This pattern suggests Brioche Knitting, only easier. For practice, I knitted and crocheted together two 35 stitches by 32 row swatches using worsted weight cotton as a pot holder. Thank you so much!

    Great! I didn't know that we knit like this in Russia😊 Your classic facial is this "granny loop". The classical loop in Russia is tied differently. The video is informative. Thank you for your lesson👍 Greetings from distant Russia🇷🇺🙋‍♀️

      I am glad I could enlighten you 😊 This knitting style is called "Babushka Knitting" in Russia, and it is also widely used in Eastern Europe, Turkey and China.

    Love this pattern. Was so excited to start it . BUT OH WOW! I have really battled to do the Russian knitting. I used the pattern using the English
    Knitting. I have made a small swatch to try and do the Russian knitting! & I intend to persevere. I think you folk who are used to Knitting the European way would find this method easy.

      Hi Ruth, Thank you so much for giving the Russian knitting a try. I understand that it can feel awkward to knitters who are used to holding the working yarn in the right hand. It is totally fine to make this scarf using the English knitting style. The result will be almost identical. Once again, thank you for trying new techniques. Hats off to your perseverance :-)

    That's exactly the same way my Danish Grandmother taught me to knit. It's really fast; however it changes the way you must do other stitches besides K and P. So, I retaught myself to knit Continental regularly as I had no Eastern European to teach me other stitches in this style such as SSK, decreases, W+T, etc.

    What a great stitch!It makes a fabric that is so stretchy and cushy; I absolutely love it! I would love to see this in some sort of a beret or cozy hat; can this be done in the round or does it have to be knit flat?

    • @10rowsaday
      @10rowsaday  2 года назад +2

      Hi Zoe. I'm so glad you like this stitch pattern. Thank you :-) Of course, you can work it in the round. The first round will be the same - [knit 2, purl 1]. The second round will be [knit 1, purl 2]. Repeat these two rounds to form the pattern. Happy knitting!

    Slip purl wise, knit 2, purl 1, purl last

    Thank you so much for sharing ☺️
    My mom always knit like this.
    She's so fast I couldn't learn from her but you explain it really well 😉
    But I think we can't using this method for knitting in round.
    am I right?

    • @10rowsaday
      @10rowsaday  2 года назад

      We can, but the fabric we make will be made of twisted stitches. It is a great advantage for knitting socks, mittens and seamless hats because twisted stitches don't stretch too much and stay without holes longer. But if you want your project to look exactly like a project made using a classic knitting style, you should switch to classic knitting when you work in the round. Happy knitting :-)

    Tried this stitch. My end purl stitch is so loose. What am I doing wrong?

      Try to pull the yarn a bit to tighten the edge stitch before you work the first stitch of the next row. Good luck!

      Hello Beth. This video is a part of a knit-along. It is intended to be more detailed and that's why it is much longer than my usual tutorials. Please, check other videos on my RUclips channel. The majority of them are shorter than 5 minutes. If you need a really quick refresher of certain knitting techniques, take a look at the "Knitting in Under a Minute" series of videos at ruclips.net/p/PLH_ldSndCil42sCIdn3HPXqyI5eB4J-il Happy knitting!

    Can you make this scarf by doing English knitting? I love how you do the Russian knitting but since I'm new to knitting I don't think it I should get confused with a new method.

    • @melaniehorstink-knights589

      You can do it the English way by just following her knit/pearl instructions and not watching her hands. I always follow using English style.

    • @10rowsaday
      @10rowsaday  2 года назад

      Yes, John, you can make this scarf using any knitting style. Melanie is right - simply follow the pattern instructions, but knit and purl using the English style. Happy knitting :-)
