    Love a Bantum. I've not got it in Alox, but it's a solid little knife to EDC. I like that the plastic scale version has the keyring so I can attach a pocket clip to it.
    Thanks for sharing as ever.

      Hey Anthony, the cellidor version also makes for a good EDC, for sure...
      However, I love the Alox scales & range even more + the stronger pull.

      It's a good one, however also take a look at the Alox Cadet - a smaller 'Pioneer', essentially.
      Just in case you need the extra tools. I will be reviewing it in a week so...

    I also bought one of these recently and it might be the perfect pocket knife. So light and unobtrusive, like you say. I’ve had my other Alox , a Pioneer, for over 15 years, so hope this does the distance too. Only very minor grumble, is every now and again the blade and tool sometimes catch each other, when putting them back in, usually if I’m holding it wrong. But overall, I really love this small knife too.

      Same. It feels like a waste to take up two spaces with a separate can opener and bottle opener when this combination tool works so well. Especially on the slimmer knives than need to use the space its got well.

    This one shall be a part of my Alox collection soon. I carry the Pioneer X most of the time. The Farmer X is awesome but I'm partial to 3-layer Alox. I really think the Electrician would be even cooler if it comes with scissors! Cheers...

      It can also go in a wallet 😉

      I did a wire-stripping demo in the review, though I need to update it soon!

    Great knife, great review. I have a Swisschamp, but it is just too heavy to carry every day. This BANTAM Alox with its two functions seems to be everything you need for daily use. My question is: Do you use a pouch/sheath for it? All pouches/sheaths that I could find seem to be too big, taking away from the minimalistic simplicity of this knife. So, maybe not using a pouch at all? I am actually looking for a sheath that fits this knife perfectly but still has a clip for attaching it to a belt or pocket. It seems that one does not exist for this model.

    • @gadgetgus
      @gadgetgus  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks buddy 👊🏼
      Agreed, the Superchamp, though it's a flagship model, is not practical as an everyday carry model.
      The Bantam is an exceptional EDC, that I simply slip into my wallet or fifth pocket.
      ➡️ You can get custom clips made up for more or less anything, so try Etsy etc.
      I would also consider the Cadet Alox, the Sportsman or Waiter...
      I hope that helps, appreciate you commenting, and thanks for stopping by.

    I was given a Wegner 2-blade Excelsior. It is not big enough for me to carry everyday. But it is good enough to carry when I cannot carry a bigger knife, especially when wearing dress slacks. It has a spit-ring on it and I have attached it to my house key when I did not want to carry my car keys. It was a gift from my former boss who recently passed away. i carry it to remember him.

    You should try to open a can with the multi tool thing, as you'll find it impossible.
    I know, as I bought this pocket knife last August. Though admittedly it's very
    satisfactory in all other respects- well made, and a sharp blade.
    Victorinox should just stick to cap lifters, and not bother with can openers.
    There's such a thing as a P37 can opener, originally issued by the US army to
    it's soldiers, if you want a handy tin opener, for emergencies.

      The can opener is great! I have only needed to use it a few times, but it's super effective when called into action.

  • @SailfishSoundSystem
    @SailfishSoundSystem 9 месяцев назад +2

    The can opener works in reverse, pull towards yourself. You will get a very serrated can lid from this. The old style is much better. It's as minimalist as you can get. Hey Victorinox, make a Bantam WITH THE MODERN Can opener.

      Hey buddy 👊🏼
      Yes, it does... occasionally, when you're filming, you may forget to say something or make a mistake, etc...
      I know how to use the combi tool, I'm just so used to using the older one - muscle memory, I guess 😁
      I agree, I also prefer the standard opener, and even better than that was their original 'claw' can open!
      However, with the combi tool or new package opener tool, times are a changin'...
      Thanks for watching,
      ATB Gus 👍🏼

    This one or the old version of Excelsior are so basic and "pure" and does not nick a hole on ones pocket. All other, with the keychain ring always kills the pocket fabric and sooner or later they drop out in the worst thinkable situation: on a zebra crossing, in an escalator or when one rides a bike downhill ;)
