I've got an FTR Rally and a Ducati 848 Streetfighter currently. The Ducati is exciting to ride but the first thing I notice when getting back on the FTR is that it feels rock solid. Weighty but dependable and super stable. It's a really high quality bike. Some people say it's overpriced however it's also over engineered and you get what you pay for, as the saying goes.

I own the FTR standard & a Ducati SF 848 also lol. I'm selling the Ducati & ordering a Sport Chief though. The FTR is sporty enough for all my canyon shenanigans & commuting, but I really want to go on some cross country rides & it's just a little uncomfortable on the back of the FTR after 2 hours or so, also my passengers say it's even more uncomfortable for them but I wouldn't know lol ;)

These reviews are great! You are proving your points for sure.
When you say the "bike disappears beneath you" that is such a great feeling. Validates the test ride aspect for sure, which validates having the confidence to ride any motorcycle> Which in turn validates practice.
How many riders have always fought with their bikes because "that's part of being on a bike."
I remember how great my Street Bob was in disappearing and also just wanting to go for long miles. What a joy!

a seriously sweet bike! rode it at the indian demo back when it was still on the 18/19 inch wheel set up and loved it then, bet its even better now! torquey, peppy, compliant chassis, i really had no complaints. felt well built too, not like a yamaha MT bike which feels very cheap and flimsy in comparison

Torque gets you moving, Horsepower keeps you moving. These have piles of torque and horsepower. You can take it to redline no issue these want to SCREAM. People ride the Sportster S and Lowrider S thinking "wow this is pretty capable and fast" then ride one of these and forget all they knew about a performance American V Twin. A record in Europe was set with a 1 mile long 143mph wheelie!
Multiple champion podium sweeper in MotoAmerica Super Hooligan against Ducati, KTM, Harley and more. A real road ready race bike.
These are 100% function > form. Just so happens that function is beautiful this time around. Everything you want, nothing you don't. With an exhaust they scream like a race bike.

This is my bike, the 2022 FTR standard, had it for almost 2 years now. I put the full Toce headers & 2-1 exhaust on it & got it tuned, tidy tail, bar end mirrors, NRC signals. I just love every time I ride it, it's not getting old at all. Where it truly shines is in the canyon twisties, the torque is so pleasant even in the lower rpms, & the brakes are perfect. I figured I'd just upgrade to the Ohlins if/when the suspension needs to be replaced. I have been beyond impressed at how well Indian put the FTR together & how they improved almost every issue the original 2019 model had. I've ordered the Indian Sport Chief, should be here in a couple weeks, wanted something that was more of a long distance machine & almost got the Chief Dark Horse Bobber, thank goodness I waited, the Sport has a bunch of the upgrades owners traditionally get aftermarket standard. Indian is improving by leaps & bounds every year, very exciting time for their brand.

The beat up Suzuki TU225 shorty I had in my MFS classes was a bike that never let me forget I was it (probably because I was a brand spanking new beginner and it was tired of being dropped and abused over the course of teaching). It was such a different experience when I finally got on my 2022 Honda Rebel 500. I love the visuals of the Indian classic bikes, it could easily be a bike in my future. Do you ever look at repair ratings for the various brands? I would love to hear Lilah's perspective too.

im not motojitsu, and im sure he'll have his own thing to say about it, but my 2 cents as a long time rider is first of all its an awesome bike! i havent ridden the 17inch wheel model but i suspect its even better because the old wheels and tires were tall and kind of sketchy for a shorter rider and didnt handle as well at the same time. great bike. that said, is its absolutely a GOOD IDEA to look up the reliability as well as repair costs for whatever model youre looking at. with newer designs from newer companies you always have the teething issues that need to be worked out. a company like honda won't put out a bad bike if they can help it, its their reputation not to but still keep in mind they have recalls too, and heck everytime suzuki releases a gsxr they recall it and that tradition goes back 20+ years. with the FTR ive heard the way that its tuned it runs really rough on a cold start, once it warms up its good to go. everything ive heard says a tune will iron that out. a lot of bikes dont start well when hot, like the R6 or a lot of kawasaki sport bikes, its just a matter of fueling in the stock tune. lastly, ill never forget the yamaha tw200 i took my test on! great little bike i still thinking about getting one even though i have 3 bikes already right now...

i have recently entered into negotiations with my local indian dealer to get my hands on the only production american made naked sport bike. i am dumbfounded by all the fluff they are trying to add to the cost of the bike. i am interested in the all the "rider aids" and am looking at the base beast mode model for 13.500. the salesman told me we are at 18,000+ for the bike. i'm like wtf. i am not getting an extended warranty as the ECU needs to be flashed (which void the warranty) to correct the cold start/idle issue along with the throttle delay issue that comes with the factory tune, i just cannot wrap my head around how we got from 13,500 to 18,000+, in texas where i am at the tax is 6.25%, title cost varies by county but cannot be more than $33 and the license registration is just under $62, these figures get us nowhere near 18,000, where is all the fluff coming from????????

Also, the new Sport models coming out look wild. Many more colors than a black base model.
The best part of owning a bike is RIDING IT. Holy cow. I rode one of these for a day and got non stop compliments, so say what you will. It's a mean bike and it'll take down any American competition without sweating.
