@Rajmund Csombordi i mean if you had actually been a wallstreetbets frequenter you would know thats literally what his investment was based off of, fundamental valuation f the cmpany, everyone forgets that for six months DFV was constantly being made fun of because no one thought the company was worth more than 5 bucks, when he started purchasing he already had thousands of shares before the short analysis on gamestop had come to light
@Rajmund Csombordi He bought at $5. When he bought those shares he didn't know it had so many short positions on it, although he suspected it was shorted quite a bit. After other redditors figured out how much it had been shorted, he bought more. His initial investment was based off the valuation of the company. His subsequent investments were based off the short analysis.
Also, it appears that his initial valuation was conservative, because the company is currently trading well above his initial valuation. It's my understanding that the vast majority of his position in the company was purchased at less than the current stock value. He has made 10s of millions of dollars on this investment, and the veracity of his analysis has been vindicated.
Why other investors invested in the stock is a different story, but if you intend to hold small time retail investors' feet to the fire because they were investing based off the short position held by a few hedge funds, then you must do the same to the couple of other hedge funds who did the same as the retail investors, not to mention the handful of billionaire investors who publicly bought for the same reason as well.
I say; Let them trade. It makes no difference the reason. If they fail and lose all their money, so be it. Some people are good, some are lucky, and some aren't. That's just the way it goes.

@@its0x33 For sure. No question he had prepped ahead of time with legal counsel, but it was a great point made by the rep. DFV in a room by himself answering questions honestly and big players are surrounded by their legal minions who’ve no doubt coached every word they say.
When you have committed no crime and have nothing to hide, its easy to simply be honest.
I appreciate his straight-forwardness and honesty. He did his homework and it payed off. Well done.

I may be wrong but I got the impression that the "retail Investors" (like Gill) were being blamed for this 'incident' and so at least some of the questions were trying to suggest collusion between these independent 'retail' investors to 'drive up the price'...which is technically market manipulation.
But as Gill said, it wasnt a concerted effort. He just explained why he liked this stock in a public place and others agreed to its amiability and invested as well.
I dont even get how this is an argument. Are they suggesting that when wall street investors meet for lunch and they discuss business....are they manipulating the market by discussing investments or the state of market? Their experience and 'authority' in this area would mean their opinions would have far more impact than a sub-reddit.
The only difference I can see is their 'manipulations' at lunch only make very small ripples that only a small number profit off in insane ways. WallStreetBets made massive ripples that got many people 'outside' to invest and make money, affecting this exclusive group to the point they made a loss, not a profit.....

Thank you for sharing this video. I'd just seen the Dumb Money film trailer, recalled the Game Stop headlines, and wanted to learn more about Mr. Gill. What an impressive fellow. Obviously bright, and well spoken. Considering some of the conduct in the house and senate lately, it was a pleasure to watch this gent conduct himself with such a straight-forward and pleasant demeanor.
Although the Congress men were not familiar with the internet platforms, they also showed the patience to Mr.Gill and protected the rights for him. I appreciate him not only for bearing so much pressure from the wall Street but he always talked about the "risk" while he was on hearing. He really treasured his family and other individual investors. It's perfect for a kind people to get rich and he also is a tough man by through unemployment for two years with his family. He deserved the success and love from people with his kindness and wisdom.
