    Consider adding a ‘lip’ around the shelf in an effort to keep things from sliding off the shelf while the tractor is in motion… a lip is what they have on boats to prevent items from crashing to the floor…

    Don’t be so hard on yourself with the welds. You do the best you can with what you got. That’s good enough.

    That rock box looks really good! You do now have alot of storage. Yeah I would go with a rubber/plastic type material as that would be easier to wipe down and some friction to keep stuff from easily sliding around.. also cushioning it a little when you hit bumps.

    My only concern would be the bottom of the tool box cracking out from the weight and vibration bouncing around, i would reinforce the bottom of it.

    My CAT MT835 has a tray put in by the previous owner that is lined by a soft small nippled silicone rubber material in it that I never saw before that absorbs shock and vibration and is easy to clean and is reasonably grippy and it’s full gray and black in color. That’s what I’d line your ringed shelve with

    Take the time to cut out a triangle shaped piece of plywood to fit the corner better , with a little bit of measuring you can make it fit like a half inch off the glass all the way around. Then add a nice lip to keep stuff from falling off. You know as well as I do them two tracks can get a little radical sometimes. I would put like a 2-inch lip on it. I always liked the used soft house carpet. It holds little screws and bolts from rolling around.

    Check out a fabric, upholstery, or leather store for a piece to cover the plywood… glue or staples on the bottom side.. then done. Could even use a piece of sheet metal to cover it.

  • @markpi20
    @markpi20 6 дней назад

    For covering the plywood, I would recommend looking at the the drawer linings and top mats for mechanics and machinist tool cabinets. Some are a tough grey foam and others are even tougher Silicone rubber types. They are non-slip and grime resistant. Also I would consider rounding the corners on the plywood a bit. I've run both track Challengers and JD tractors, both tracked and wheeled. Both are great but the Challengers seemed the more horsepower for the buck.

    Maybe add a piece of flat stock to the bottom of the toolbox under each bolt. Should help keep the bottom of box from cracking/splitting as bad from vibration

    A lip around the edge of the shelf like jerry said. also if you can get yellow or black mat for workout gym flooring it would be more grippy than fake grass i think.

    Is there a reason you didn’t make the sides of the rock box higher? (I’m not a farmer and am genuinely curious to the answer.) I think a small air horn would be a cool addition and would solve that issue.
