Carson, cannot express how much I appreciate your channel. No farming skills whatsoever. You have the ability to explain and are so knowledgeable and explain everything very well. Glad I found your channel.
Changing the oils on a quadtrac we like to use like a quart bottle with the small end on the top and it makes it super simple to fill up like a minute or two
Hi Carson! Lots of very valuable work done to your tractor! Nothing like clean oil and filters. Thanks for taking us on the maintenance job with you. Stay safe and healthy!
It appears that oil started draining when you removed the first bolt. If that is so they appear to be through into the cavity. If that is true and you leave out the bolt at the top it will allow air to escape and fill much quicker.
Anytime we buy anything used we zero out all fluids and filters. We record all the filter numbers, proper fluids. We also oil sample everything but not necessary. In doing so as you mentioned you learn lots about the machine and spot other potential problems and nip them in the bud. People charge a lot of money for their labor. I like to think I’m valuable but I’m not worth $200 an hour so I figure doing that stuff myself is very cost effective and maybe the only time I can make $200 an hour. Another thing is being young and broke (now I’m old and broke 🤣) I saved a lot of money with my sweat equity. As time goes on I have less energy but no less ambition. Enjoy your youth, it’s fleeting. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks Carson!...You won't regret doing the maintenance you're doing, and saving big bucks doing it yourself! After a few profitable crop years...maybe then let your dealer change the fluids and filters, etc.... Best of luck and be safe !
Have you considered cutting excess of the 160” track spacing off? That way you wouldn’t have 20” on each side potentially hitting things? I’m guessing they are just solid steel?
We change our bogey wheel and front wheel oils @500hrs and reaction arm oils every 250 the same as the engine,we have the clear sight caps with the 2 bungs in them and run them about 3/4 full because we do so much road work, its a pain with so much regular maintenance but we haven’t had a bearing failure since we started doing this ,the clear sight caps is a 👌 upgrade when you can get them
To fill the small road wheels with new oil. Maybe try getting a large livestock syringe . Fill the syringe with your oil and inject it in. Should be a little faster. Thank you for your time and videos. And stay safe.
They make clear caps for them so you can see the oil level we got ours at D&S tires in West Point Nebraska they also sell bogey wheel and retread tracks and bogeys
5 gallon pumper pail with hose, will make quick work of refilling. On paying your Dad and brother for their oil, I would suggest rounding up a few gallons, you are saving money by using their bulk system over buying in barrells or jugs, not to mention using the warm shop.
Look up a gear lube pump, you can use something similar to pump the oil out of the bottles into the bogie wheels or anything else you need to push oil into
One thing I will say we have a challenger mt685d and when we first changed the trans oil it was locking up and doing all kinds of stupid stuff because we had like a quart to much so if your tractor is like ours it's going to be picky
@@stevegray4734 here’s a link to a video. I posted it a really long time ago but it gives you a good idea. ruclips.net/video/idaNC6HAbRM/видео.htmlsi=FCPSNboesKz6LqYY
Thanks from down here in New Zealand for the link that explained the process. The unseen work that goes in to efficient farming is so underrated and ignored by those who speak out against the farming business. Essential food production, whether it's grain, cropping, livestock etc. Best wishes for your new venture 👍
Great Job. You do learn a lot about the equipment when you do the work, plus save some money on labor. Valuable experience. Keep up the videos and can't wait for spring .
Just to let you know RUclips want to be playing games again cuz this is the first time I've gotten a video notice from you and months and months and months and months
Sadly the RUclips algorithm seems to be going down hill. I have posted a couple sweet videos here in the past few weeks though that you should check out!
Before installing the 'abrorbing' kind of gaskets, rub some oil on the two surfaces and then rub the oil off with a rag. The gaskets will still do their leak proof job and you will not have a problem removing gaskets from their mating metal surfaces.
I have a coworker that owns a Mercedes Benz suv. He said that the dealership charges over 500 dollars for an oil change. I’m sure that’s probably only 6-8 quarts.
Find a little nozzle tip or air fitting will fit in hole. Also I drilled a second hole in cap as breather to fill. Drilled and tapped a grease nipple to seal it. 1500 hours on a filter... Holy shizer! Yip change everything brother. That just screams neglect! Watch Larson Farms change their Quad Tracks. Use pvc pipe etc. Please blow off, clean off around the top of your filters first bud. Try clean out your bogeys before you refill. Contaminating new oil is a thing. Love your channel.
You know in our farm we've got three cat challengers in our bogey Wheels we have a tube with funnels on them that are three in a row that we just undo all of them all at once and then let them drain and then pour it into some container then we put in the new stuff with just the smallest of hoses in a pump
I like the challenge track tractor but afraid of the track with all the maintained on them is there a good reason to use track I like not having dual tires does the track last a while whats about running them or the road

Great video and looking forward to seeing it working in the fields.
Great video and advice

Carson may run into it many times before he takes your advice. LOL!

When filling the hubs get yourself a large syringe.. They make a 500 ml one got to be easier then the funnel trick
Need to get a Oil Bottle that has a skinny nozzle on it and just squeeze the oil in
Large syringe works great to fill boogie wheel

Use a pump oil can for those tiny holes. Just remove the tip if it’s too big.
Can you explain how you tile a field for drainage?
Do contractors do it or do you have your own equipment to do it?

I would try a gear oil quart container, cut the pointed end off really small and try that might work pretty well
Great Job. You do learn a lot about the equipment when you do the work, plus save some money on labor. Valuable experience. Keep up the videos and can't wait for spring .
I'm happy to see you got it all done! That's a lot of oil... 25% more than expected! What's the next project for you?
good deal
Larson Farms has a great video.
I would reach out to Chet Larson on changing the fluid in the bogey wheels.
They made a contraption so they can drain all the bogey wheels on one side at the same time.
It looks like it's made out of pvc pipe.

Great video. Looking forward to Spring!!
Could use an outboard boat motor lower end oil pump from a marine store to get the oil back in.
Use schaffers 60WT next time on all rollers and reaction arms. This is as suggested to us by our Agco MT guy.

You should look into a fluid extracter. They look like a grease gun tube
I will have to look into that
WOW the maintenance is expensive on those tractors
Yeah they can be, but worth it to keep them running.
How many hrs does your machine have?
6000
@6thGenFarmer we had to get the injectors and pump redone at 7k that's what's reccomend by our dealer
Every so often take a pic of the reaction arm seal to make sure it’s not leaking if you haven’t already
Yes, I did do that when I purchased it
How big are those tracks
18”
@ thank you
For the prices of suction filter I would safer compared to a collapsed filter repair
Is that overhead crane new?
Nope, I think my dad built it when I was a kid
What type of oil do you use?

power washer to get off snap rolls
Are you going to polish the headlight lenses on the hood?
Yes, I do!
Since you are going to have so few acres of corn to do next year could you just trade a little labor and just borrow the 806c from your dad
Sadly, the 806c will not work on my Combine without spending a couple grand on modifications… by that point I might as well buy a cheap corn head
@ good point
Agriculture animal syringe i would try for filling
You need a squeeze bottle bud
Larson farms have a good way
Can get a small oil syringe
My mechanic buddy uses a giant syringe
👉🚜
I like the challenge track tractor but afraid of the track with all the maintained on them is there a good reason to use track I like not having dual tires does the track last a while whats about running them or the road
I would try a syringe
Try a syringe
