    Thankyou Marvin!
    Very enjoyable lesson..
    I have had a go at playing Albatross,
    While out busking, with a looper,
    To keep the bass line going.
    It is always received well..
    But now, thanks to this lesson,
    In honour of the great Peter Green,
    I'm going to learn to play all the parts together.
    You play this beautifully!
    Peter would be proud.

By the way, this arrangement isn't too difficult: just keep the low E string going until it's second nature, then try out the higher bits. Remember, practise slowly to avoid frustration. all the best, Marvin

      Yes, you're right. In fact there is a video of me doing this in Chichester which has got a lot of views since Peter Green died. Have you seen it? And there is a new one of me doing Albatross which I recorded the day he died. I use a Gretsch now, as my Epiphone has got a crack in the headstock and doesn't keep its tuning very well. Anyway, if the video(s) say Marvin B Naylor, then it's definitely me! Many thanks! Here's the Chichester video ruclips.net/video/T8w0oocsuzI/видео.html

  • @stevo53
    @stevo53 8 лет назад +1

    This is stunning. And that Casino sounds awesome. I've been wanting to get one for a while now, but I'm still smarting from spending way too much on a high end Maton acoustic that I don't even like playing anymore. So I'd appreciate your thoughts on the pros and cons of the Casino. I've noticed that yours seems to play itself.
    I appreciate that there is a lot of skill going in from you, but as you know, some guitars just seem to want to be played, and reward you for doing so, while some can be just like a frigid wife.

    • @marvinbnaylor
      @marvinbnaylor  8 лет назад

      +stevo53 The Casino's a great guitar, and very cheap for what it is - I'm talking about the Korean ones, of course, not the expensive American ones. The neck on mine is very nice, and the pickups sound great. I tend to use just the neck one for the fingerstyle stuff, although the treble one sounds great, too - for solo-ing. I put the Bigsby on myself. The guy at the local music shop said you shouldn't put one on a guitar that hasn't got a centre bar (as mine hasn't), because it will be too much tension and the guitar will cave in. He was wrong: the wood on these guitars is very strong and anyway, all the tension is on the back/side where the strap button is. All you have to do is drill 2 holes to secure the Bigsby on the front of the guitar: there is only a little tension there. I can't think of any cons, apart from it's difficult to get to the very highest notes because of the cutaway. The amp I use is a Roland Micro Cube - they are very compact, take 6 AA batteries, and sound great. I use the Brit Combo amp setting, which is supposed to replicate a 60s VOX amp, but all the other amp sounds are good. It's just that the Brit Combo setting is the only one that cuts through all the noise when you're playing outside. I heartily recommend the Micro Cube, and also the Cube Street, which is a bigger version, although you get a lot more from the reverb knob on the Micro Cube, for some reason. I hope this helps! Regards, Marvin

      Thanks for that in-depth info Marvin. 👌
      I guess now, I'll just have to decide on what colour.
      Same as yours? ,
      or maybe the Goldtop?, natural?
      Or the cherry, in remembrance of my first proper guitar in 1969, a MIJ Tempo 335 copy. Decisions decisions!
      But they are all stunning.
