      Soon as I heard her say that my heart just straight shattered.. That kid's going to have a rough life if he stays with that women, I refuse to call her his mom because she's clearly not worthy of that title..       I'm not trying to take anything away from the officers but what decent human being wouldn't show empathy for that 2 year old? The officers did their jobs to the best of their abilities and I thank god for that but if you're incapable of harming the situation like those guys did, than you shouldn't be a cop...pure and simple.

      Scott Dancer oh oops, I live in Canada so we don’t have misdemeanours and felonies so I’m not sure how they work exactly. Here I’m pretty sure, she’d never have a chance, like at all. If it were up to me she’d be in jail for endangering that poor child. So sad.

      if by rescued u mean taken away from the family permanently because they caught his mother drunk once. who is to say that kid isnt better off with his mom than in the system. that could have been me for the amount of times my father drove drunk with me. I was never in an accident. certainly wouldnt have liked to have been ripped from my family to be put with strangers. i wouldn't be surprised if 20 years from now that kid developed a drug habit and wouldn't mind reuniting with officer "crocodile tears for the camera" Flores and massage his head with a lead pipe

      the saddest part is that the officer was trying to figure out any way for the child to not be taken away completely from his family even if removed from the mother and she just didn't care. Didn't beg didn't try to find a solution just said take him do what you are going to do.

(I usually don't go above 30-35mil/h on interstate. Any faster and I'm loosing track of what's happening around me)

      Msboochie2 I’m almost positive the child will never forget. I can only hope and pray that one day, when the child is old enough, that he/she will take this as a blessing in disguise and understand what could of happened that night. I honestly also pray and wish that the child lives a decent life if not the best life despite all this mess.

      It's the discretion of the officer, I feel like he didn't want to charge the mother with to much, so when she clears her mind in jail. She can still be able to pick the kid up since the child truly had nowhere to go. He did it for the best scenario for that child.

    Those officers did a damned fine job. The lead officer getting choked up was a side of law enforcement we don’t usually get to see, and that humanity and concern for that poor little child really hit hard.

Second, hate is learned, not innate. All people have the capacity for this kind of hate and it has nothing at all to do with the melanin content of one’s skin. I just encourage you to step back and consider that the generalizations you’ve made here just might be the same kind of statement you’d hear from officers that would be considered hateful and racist. It certainly doesn’t mean there is no truth to it. Corrupt, hateful and racist officers obviously exist. Generalizing like this is something hard-wired into our human brains as a self-preservation mechanism, and I think awareness/understanding of that fact is necessary to defeat racism

    We need to make zero tolerance for alcohol, one drink no drive period. So finally people can get in their head they just can't drink and drive.

I'm a child of the 80s I lost 40% of my seniors to car crashes, almost all related to alcohol. The problem is people just don't know their limit. A zero tolerance policy stops anyone from driving, and make sure if you do you are a criminal.

      @@Churdington it's true what you what you say in Japan I've been there many times, but they don't have the issue with the police and then culture police are known to drive you home. Here in this everybody loses. There's no problem with there's only the problem with drinking and driving. The math of how many drinks you can have truly depends on your body chemistry. It is not an exact science. But with over 50 years of driving and drinking we have the data proves it doesn't work

      The man came out and was made to kneel on the ground with his hands up, so I'm sure the officer had his gun drawn at him.
      why? because he was speeding? That's the protocol for pulling over drivers who are speeding?
      Also, how is that Public intoxication? So it's against the law to be drunk passenger now?
      He assumed that they did drugs because he found a small glass bottle in the car.
