- This is a cover of the Mr. Rogers theme song I did a few years back for fun. I grew up with Mr. Fred Rogers as a little kid, and had great admiration for him as well as Johnny Costa for his amazing and complex jazz piano arrangements. I tried to incorporate a little Johnny Costa feel in this, but can't do justice to the original Master of Pittsburgh Jazz Piano.

I'm 40 now. I still miss him.
I would watch this show everyday as a child. I cried so much when he passed away. I'm 17 now, but I can't help but tear up.
Remember, he would say that it's OK to be sad and I don't doubt for a moment he would be happy that his lessons are still remembered and cherished.
Be the neighbor he would want you to be and live a good life. Keep MR Rogers in your heart.

I'm 17. But I was lucky enough to have Mr. Rogers on as a kid. PBS was the best. I was literally sobbing when I heard the theme again as my teacher gave me the sheet music for it.

I always loved it when Mr. Rogers came on, I still remember the opening and would sing along with Rogers. What a kind and honest man he was. The world learned an awful lot from this man. I want to be able to share that same kind of love and affection with people today, and if we can do that together, I think this world will be a much kinder and prettier place.

I would watch Mr.Rogers when I was little. My parents were going through a divorce at the time and it was just such a shitty time in my life. I would go home excited just to watch the show. Till this day i can't help but tear up at the theme. I wish he was still alive so I could tell him the difference he made in my life...

I am 11 and remember this song from Daniel tiger but I was lucky to see one episode of mister Rogers one day when I was 4 wow
That's the closest I've heard anyone come to playing the way Johnny Costa did it!! I imagine Johnny never played it exactly the same way twice, being that none of the music was recorded, but always played live as the show was being taped. Absolutely wonderful!!!
