Absolutely concur. Also they sing in Latin, Floor doing the Alto part of this classical duet with only the Orchestra backing them. Audience listens in absolute silent awe.

Yes, Floor and Simone are BFF. They've been on the same festivals contless times,especially when Flor was in her first band, After Forever (1997-2008) and then in her own band (2008-2012). Floor's own band she created after Forever was disbanded actually opened for Epica on a 2010 european tour.
Also, Mark Jansen, (guitarist who yells "Floor Janseeeeeeen", not related to Floor) is the mastermind behind Epica and was one of the co-creators of Floor's first band, After Forever.

In the early 2000s NIghtwish, Within Temptation, After Forever (Floors 1st band) and Epica used to tour together ALOT. Epica joined this "fest" later as they were formed in 2003. So yes, these goddess of metal know each other for years upon years now.
those tours together are also part of the reason why Floor is with Nightwish right now.
Oh boy..this is going to make you crazy…I saw a comment somewhere about this song that said “when Floor and Simone sing together it is like a new instrument”… how true that is!

In fact, Floor and Simone are close friends and have done a lot of nonsense together, especially in the time when they were not yet so busy scheduled. I love the few gigs they had together.

Simone and Floor are good friends. However, neither did they go to school together, nor where they were roommates. Those are myths that are hard to kill. Floor is about 4 years older than Simone.
Simone and Floor probably first met around the time that Mark was still a member of After Forever and Simone became Mark’s girlfriend. At that time, Floor gave Simone singing tips. In 2010/2011, After Forever joined Epica on a European tour as support act. There are interviews with Floor and Simone of that time where they told that they were glad to have each other to hang out with as otherwise they were all surrounded by boys. At that time, Floor started doing guest appearances in Sancta Terra. Also, Simone did a guest appearance with Floor in Revamp’s Sweet Curse in 2010. There is a cute video of both rehearsing at Simone’s home before that. After this, Floor was a natural choice for a guest appearance on Epica’s 10th anniversary show in 2013.
In 2020, during the corona lockdown, Floor did an interview with Simone on being a woman and a mom in metal.
However apart from that, Simone’s current best friend seems to be Elize Ryd from Amaranthe as they post their mutual visits on social media.

Simone told me in her tea time on her patreon that they never were roommates or lived together however they hanged around each other alot and having fun! So u are right about that :)

I did not realize this performance was from before Floor was tatted on her upper arms. BUT you really get to see all of those very real muscles of hers. She mucks out stalls, bucks hay and drives fence-posts herself, all from living on a farm with horses. She knows what REAL WORK actually is so she does not shy away from long hours of doing anything that needs to be done.
The horses obviously love her so she must also be an actual GOOD Human Being. Animals can sense that kind of thing so if you are not right in the head or especially if you have evil intent, they won't want anything to do with you on the best occasions. Or it could get BAD and they may attack you! Horses are not above trampling intruders. They KNOW they are many times bigger than Humans and they will use that size to their advantage if they find themselves in a situation where they must fight or flee.

I remember this concert. An awesomeness cleanup crew had to be brought in after the show. Stunned angels were crashing to Earth. Ponies were growing wings. In cels were finding girlfriends. Complete madness.

They actually are really close friends! They're all from the Netherlands, and Floor and Mark Jansen (no relations) used to be in the band After Forever together.
If you get the chance I really think you would enjoy the Epica/Apocalyptica live joint song Rivers, it's beautiful and Simone sounds gorgeous. On the EPICA youtube channel.

Yes, that is the same outfit that Floor wore at Wacken 2013. This concert with Epica was, I believe, a few months before Floor joined Nightwish in the middle of their Imaginaerum tour.
Floor and Simone have been close friends for a long time, so your desired reality is fulfilled.

Wacken is an open-air festival held in Wacken, Germany. However, the W in Wacken, is pronounced as a V in German. For future reverence. Also, Floor's last name Jansen is pronounced Yan Sen (two syllables, one word). Since you asked... lol.
Anorher example of Dutch women in beast mode. Simone was fairly well along in her pregnancy during this taping. Their voices blend together so well. Was lucky enough to see Nightwish live after 2-3 postponements due to COVID, and would love to see them play with a full orchestra and chorus. Tuomas had mentioned that was a dream of his, but obviously the fees are astronomical. I'm sure others have answered the other questions about Floor and Simone's friendship but one point that may not have been discussed is that Floor actually gave Simone singing lessons. IIRC Simone started as a "Pop" music singer as that was the biggest genre in the Netherlands (Symphonic Metal was unheard in the Netherlands back when these two started). Odd for a country that produces the finest symphonic metal voices in the world. .....Happy Easter , Passover, etc. to my fellow Rayniacs!
The name Epica was inspired by the 6th studio album by the band Kamelot (listen because it's worth it, especially with the former vocalist Roy Khan), released in 2003. Simone Simons, vocalist of Epica is married to the keyboardist of Kamelot.

At an even 6' (185cm), Floor is a real-world representation of the Valkery (mythic Norse warriors). Now, put her in 5" heels and wrap her in studs, leather, and lace. Then she becomes an awe-inspiring, magnificent, piercing beacon of female empowerment. Not to mention the wicked cool inkwork she sports as well. Cheers to two of the best voices in music.

Yes Simone and Floor are good friends. Both from the Netherlands and have run in the same music circles for decades. Simone sings the parts Floor normally sings and Floor takes the part that a guest male vocalist usually takes (Russel Allen on the album, her and Henk do a killer version from her solo concert in Amsterdam). Retrospect concert is Epica's 10th Anniversary show was over 3 hours long with full orchestra and choir. You have already done Unleashed from teh same show. You're great reactor! I'm here to stay! 😂 Please give us more of Epica, this song is not even close to one of their best and does not show the complexity of their compositions. A few suggestions: kingdom of heaven part 3, Skeleton key, consign to oblivion, design your universe, the phantom agony.
This performance is a real treat since it features my two favorite women on the metal scene.
The have such chemistry together and their voices blen so well. Put the orchestra and choir on top of that extremely talented band and you have a truly epic performance.
What really shines in this song apart from the vocals is the drumming. It simply awesome and I get blown away by it every time I hear it.
And also, Floor reminds me of Lady Sif from the Thor movies. And it wouldn’t suprise me if Floor could benchpress a car.

Don't know if they're besties but they're definitely friends, there's a lot of videos of them both at home on the Tube. And just the title, Sancta Terra, is latin (it means "holy ground"), while the lyrics is in english. Also, Simone was pregnant at the time of that gig so that's why she didn't headbang as much as Floor 😁
