Hi everyone 😊… I just wanted to flag that I think there’s a bug at present making it so that the check for gigs button doesn’t work. I was making this guide through the base game update ahead of Cottage Living, and before the update it worked as usual, and after the update the button broke. I’m sure it’ll be fixed soon, but until then you can use a computer to check for gigs as a workaround 😊.
I noticed that the same happened at first with Interior Decorator, where checking for gigs from the UI didn't work. But then I checked for gigs via my sim's phone and suddenly it worked just fine.
The work around does work to select a gig, however the bug is back that you cant complete the gig. My maker sim sends off the finished product and gets a notification saying it is exactly what they wanted blah blah blah and gets a small pay for it but it doesnt tick off the list to complete. The notification also sounds more like selling something on plopsy.....not the freelancer career. Irritating because I was combining cottage living and eco for a more complex play. :/
What I love the most about your videos, is that you make me interested about an aspect of the game I’ve either never tried, or had gotten bored with. I didn’t know the freelancer career gave rewards. Thanks so much for another great video.
I left my game to download overnight and I'm so excited to play !!! I've been binge watching your guides for a while now bless you and your amazing content !! 😭🙏🙏
Thank you! I've been avoiding the freelance career option because I assumed it would still be a rabbit-hole but with more specific options. Thank you for proving me wrong! lol. It sounds stupid, I know. I'm really excited to try it now, I wondered why there wasn't a work-from-home option like there was in the Sims 3 :)
The photography freelance career is by far the quickest way to make a lot of money. You need very basic skills to make thousands per gig and the turn around time is quick. I create a "club" of "models" so that my photographer sim can have a hang out to take pictures lol
Great guide! I would have wished if you mentioned the non-basegame freelancer careers and with which pack they come :) and can elders have the freelancer career maybe? That would be so cool!
I hope he does another video with the other careers too. Although, I think he did one on the photography one that came with Moschino. BTW, elders can have any job that young adult or adult sims can have.
Thanks Jessica! I did the freelance photography career as part of my complete guide to photography, and I've done the paranormal career, but i'll make sure I get around to the others at some stage too :D
I like painting and arts in the sims, but it’s so easy to get so much money really quickly that i much prefer the freelancer option, as I like my sims to actually struggle sometimes.
For the EA slave freelancer... if you have a 3 arts gig... research the job prior to drawing each, you usually won't get rejected. My Sim researched and drew the first one fine, the second one got rejected like 10 times before I researched it then edited it and it was accepted.
Just a question: Will you be doing a deep dive into Eco-Lifestyle sometime? I would love to see you break down all the careers and machines we got as well as the two deaths (there's a hiddenone that requires the mixology skill to get). It's my favorite pack.
Sabrina :) I've been getting asked this a bit lately. I know I have completely overlooked Eco Lifestyle but I will definitely get around to doing some guides on it at some stage, promise! :D Sorry it's definitely one of the more neglected packs on my channel at the moment.
My favorite thing about the Digital Artist Freelancer Career is that, if your work is rejected, you can create a new painting instead of editing the original, and it's actually FASTER than simply editing. Just keep making new paintings until your work is approved, and then sell the rejected paintings for extra money
For freelance writers you can make a copy of the book you write; get the copy approved by the client, then publish the original the normal way. The cost of making a copy can range from around $100-$1000+ depending on the type and quality of book. But royalties will easily pay this back in a day or two. Then you get the job payout and daily royalties. Just make sure you submit the copy for approval since the publishing feature doesn’t work on copies.
@@Mo0shii it’s been a while since I played an author, but I think you just place the book in world like on a table. Then click on the book and it will have an option to make a copy. It can be fun to put copies of your sims books in the library and stuff like that but you can still sell the original.
Ahaha freelancer is base game! But there are additional branches of the freelance career that can be added by packs, and the eco lifestyle expansion pack adds in an extra branch to the career :).
Is there an updated guide with the other dlc’s? Mainly does the inclusion of the fabricator make it worthwhile to be a freelancer? I’m addicted to havya sim build everything in his house no matter how tough it is at the start when doing this with a rags to riches challenge.
I tried digital artist a couple of times, but my work would get rejected multiple times and take forever to complete, so it wasn't worth the bother. I might try one of the others, though.
If you're work is rejected, study the reference material on the PC before editing... it's an extra step put I find I rarely get rejected on the piece I just studied. Studying the reference is faster than re editing. So always study before EACH drawing.
@@ShadoeLandman it was just what struck me after having drawing 2 rejected like ten times, I returned the reference and it got accepted immediately. It made me suspect you have to study for each drawing.. my Sim had painting at 10 and was still getting rejected.
For the past 4 months or so I keep getting LastException errors for freelancer things, which is weird because those bugs are supposedly fixed. Probably mod related, but I have 0 mods to do with freelancer things, so it's a mystery. 😅
what pack is the floral jumpsuit from?? the one on the painting lady at 4:45. it's so pretty also i don't really like this career, because i usually end up only taking gigs and forgetting to live, or i live too much and forget to take the gigs hahaha
Hello, thank you for this helpful video ❤ I'm playing sims 4 for the first time and I bought a sketchbook for my sim, but after she drew a portrait with it once the sketchbook disappeared 😢 ı don't know what to do, can you help me? 🥲
Sadly the digitalistic sketchpad can be a little bugged! I find if I sketch with it but then cancel the sketch before they finish it then it kind of breaks the sketchpad and it becomes worthless and can't be used. I don't know if this is the exact bug you're experiencing but as it's a bit of a complicated object I would just buy another if needed (using money cheats to refund the cost).
@@PeteyPlaysIt I need your help again 😭🙏🤓 I read the lessons but I don't know how to overcome my sim's fears. My sim is always sad and losing control. My other sim doesn't have this problem either, she just has a fear of swimming. Maybe it's because my sim has a nerd brain feature. How do I overcome his anxiety? 😫😢
don't know if you mentioned this but when you make a website they'll give you a part of the business (like investing with stocks with the Business career) and in my experience they have always given me around 50000 grand for the really high level ones so its another way to earn a lot of money with the computer expert gigs

That explains it. I was wondering why it was doing nothing and assumed my game was glitching, lol.
It broke for acting too, so I have to use the phone to accept gigs at the moment.
I have not been able to use the freelancing career for months now. My Sims never get paid.
Bruh the fact that you dont have atleast 100k is illegal. You helped me make my gameplay so much fun
Agree completely!
Awe shucks thank you alexa!
I subscribed cause if this message, so true
Same. I've been playing the Sims at least 10 years and I still learn so much from him
I use this career sometimes, it's great if your sim is a single parent or is raising a toddler because your sim is around to care for the child.
I always hire babysitters. Toddlers are tedious for me and I only have them to continue the bloodline because I like generational families.
My Sim is a Master of the Reel and works 10 hours a week... 2/5s... she is home most of the time

Thanks so much for the kind words KW :D
I’m tempted to make a household of freelancer roommates lol. I wish there was freelance caterer where you’re hired to go to places and cook at events.
Yes! Same with bartending and musician, and any other people you can hire for events (if any).
Although i have all the exp packs, i always end up choosing a freelance career for my sims 🤣
