We started pumping out consistent content about 3 months ago. We now use Resolve, but started with Video Editor on Widows 10.
The best feature of Resolve? Power! This thing has a ton of power in the free version. There is a learning curve, but you can get it with time. The biggest downfall is it needs a powerful computer. Previewing transitions and effects can be choppy without a powerful computer. But it’s not that big of a deal.
Learn something new with this thing each time we use it!

Im a total beginner but ive gone through shotcut and imovie but currently using Davinci Resolve and for me, there is just no competition.
Davinci Resolve blew me away - not to mention the quality and amount of tutorials for it is astounding. Not to mention there's a community discord that's really helpful if you have any questions.
The fusion tool is very daunting but once you get the hang of it - its just so convenient for everything you need.
Shotcut just kept crashing and was so limited with little to no effects and help.
Imovie was just confusing and limited.
Oh and i used blender too. It was okay.
But the smoothness and overall genius of Davinci UX just made me stoked to actually BE able to edit videos and get constant help.
All i can say is this:
Just get Davinci Resolve. There's so many great youtubers with high quality tutorials for everything you would ever want and even more for things you didn't know you want.
    Example:
My earlier videos were normal cuts here and there with some minor effects.
With davinci - in 13-14 hours ive almost completed my MultiPoV videogame edit with in-and-out camera angles, smooth and frame perfect transitions and am in the middle of learning how to make a simple intro INSIDE DAVINCI RESOLVE.
Oh, and i made animated neon outlines that rotated over a clip. You can make that in like.. 15-25 minutes. And yes, there's a tutorial for that also.
Just get Davinci, its absolutely insane for a free program.
Yes i'm fanboying over it, thats how much i like it. :D

    • @Torguish
      @Torguish 3 года назад

I'd like to mention i have used adobe and sony vegas during my school days. :) For me - Davinci just hits all the right notes and does a lot of the things better.
Biggest thing to learn is definitely the Fusion tool. It's powerful but my god once you get he hang of it. It's like Adobe AE, but lighter and for me - a lot faster and easier to learn.

A few quick tips for Davinci Resolve: the software only takes MP4 and JPEG flies so u may want to look for a file converter if needed. Also try not to use the cut section that much, edit does almost everything cut does but with all the keyboard shortcuts.

That's one of the great advantages about Shotcut over paid software like Premiere Pro and Resolve: Shotcut will accept almost any file. Thanks for this video it's very helpful. I've used iMovie on my iMac for years and been very happy with it. However, it won't run on Mac OS Catalina (10.15.7) and requires Big Sur. My iMac is 8 years old and can't update to Big Sur so Apple have left us users of an older iMac high and dry with no alternative. I'm going to download Shotcut to see if it will be a suitable replacement and I'll let you know what I think

As a hobby, far from pro, uw filmer, I started on Windows, went to iMovie on Mac and since Corona came, spent a lot of time with DavinciResolve.
I would recommend DavinciResolve. Even if you just begin, using only the edit tab makes it very simple to use. In case you want to move on, you can dig into the color tab and fusion. It just offers everything and you can evolve as you please. There are tons of great tutorials for all levels out there. I just love it.

I wanna create movie reaction videos. I started using iMovie and I dont wanna change to other programs cause I find them soooo hard. iMovie is easy and I used it on my iPad 8th gen. Even though it’s easy, it is sooooooooo slow when I try to cut small parts of the movie and my reaction so I thought, better just add the movie, save the whole file (like 2 hours of the full movie and myself reaction to it), and then once it’s saved, just create a new project, and on this new project just cut the parts you dont need. Honestly until that point I thought I had solutions, but when I tried to save the 1st project it just wasnt accepted. So I had to take the movie off completely. And now I’m trying to save just my 2-hour-reaction. And I guess that I will have to use another program, in order to be able to add the movie also to my project, and cut parts of it. This is so so so frustrating I dont know what to do, I dont wanna use other programs. And even if I’ll try to, I doubt that I’ll be able to add the movie and save the final file successfully
