John Carpenter's The Thing is an exceptional film due to it's directing, comradery between actors & charismatic Kurt Russell, but mostly because "special effects" were mastered to the extreme. No CGI, just great film making.
You’re in the minority friend…it’s one of the best sci-fi horror movies ever made, if not the best…fan lauded & critically acclaimed being ahead of its time…where have you been? You’re not a true horror fan
@Brandon Loves The Movies I can't speak about his attitude during comicon conventions or anything like that, I never saw/heard him in those situations. Now, given the disrespect and condescending attitude from critics early on, I can somehow relate to a passive aggressive attitude.
John notoriously hates the Hollywood system and everything around it. He hates promoting his movie and doing all the PR circus. He wants to let the movie speak for itself.
Bill Lancaster's screenplay is up there with the very best of them.

I think anyone who automatically shits on the idea of remaking a classic should watch this interview
Too bad the remake of the 1982 The Thing wasn't very good.

went to your website and found some text about the full interview, but no video.
I always get the impression that John Carpenter hates doing interviews. He always seems irritated. (for the most part)
@Brandon Loves The Movies He is upset because Hollywood had fucked him over multiple times.
I suspect he's fed up with being asked the same questions over and over.
