I really love these videos! I cannot begin to tell you how often I come back to watch them over and over again, each time learning something new to take away from them and try in my effort to improve my own work Thank you!
I really like that 3/4 in Flat! Very smooth work.
Been doing this exercise. It’s harder than it looks. You make it look easy!
What I find most breathcatching about this vide is how many layers and washes you have put down without overworking it. Fantastic!
seems like watery paint was just flowing around and suddenly a landscape appeared from nowhere! damn good!
Their demonstrations are wonderful. I'm currently in a state of paralysis and was looking for ways to get back into painting. I found your videos and the spontaneous pictures alongside the explanations are worth their weight in gold for me as an amateur and self-taught artist. I literally fall for their explanations 😜👌. Thank you very much for your dedication and efforts.
IMHO, integration makes the difference between a decent painting and an amazing one. Still struggling with it myself. This was so helpful, thank you!
Your work always amazes me! Maybe some day when I grow up I can be almost as good as you....I am 65! Lol. Thank you for your time Steve!
lol here here...
It always amazes me how you can take a big ole flat and paint such tiny details. Bravo!
Wow!! Chock full of information! One of the most artistically technical vids ever. Many thanks! Will be watching over & over.
I’m amazed at how luminous your paintings are. I painted my first watercolor landscape last night, trying so hard to not be heavy handed. Then I went back to fix the 100 things I felt I wanted to change and ended up muddying up all the translucent washes! Ugh. I’ll use these examples you did as my guide for my next and one and I guess try not to brush over so much what I’ve already painted in. Right?
Wow! So much wonderful information in a short amount of time. Thank you for sharing the scripture at the end as well.
What else is there to say Steve? Your painting is magical and it never fails to inspire me, even after a disappointing painting. Thanks.
This is so good I am going to have to watch this several times.
Granted I’m new to watercolor, but my heart soared like an eagle watching that Tundra Violet do it’s thing. I’ve never seen a paint of any kind do what that one did when separating itself across the water. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge and showing that lovely paint. Blessings to you Steve!
Your video was full of excellent information. I wish that you would write a Mind of Watercolor book, as I would surely buy it.
Of all the styles you have, I love this style the most. The first one in particular has such a beautiful almost mystical quality and reminds me of some of those famous illustrators from a century or so ago.
Brilliant as always. A joy to watch and your voice is so soothing.x
Pure magic. I have a confession to make...I have been taking screenshots of your Bible verses and sharing them randomly on my social media channels.
If you don't want me to do that, please let me know and I will stop it. But it is one of my favorite things about you and your videos. Thank you for all that you do.
Thats totally awesome! Thats what the Bible is for, sharing and encouraging others.
@@mindofwatercolor Thank you. I feel better now. I so appreciate all that you share here on the tube. I follow and binge way too much ...should get to the drawing board more often, admittedly. If I had to choose just one channel I could peruse, it would be yours. js
Much LOVE and gratitude.
The music! Totally transformed my learning experience. Perfectly placed in the video. And I agree with Deborah P below: I love this style. Thank you.
Love the t/shirt.
For me ground is necessary to support beautiful shadows. Well that and other things too.
The deep sea green & tundra green are beautiful colors!!
Stunning!
The importance of all the elements makes your artwork soooooo super - thank you for your guidance.
Merci, Steve ! There’s a lot to learn and absorb in this video. You sure have “the” touch ! I have “pitched” the video on the big TV screen with Apple tv, it’s fantastic to watch you paint in my living room, I guess I will invite you here in Montreal more often 😊😊😊 Have a great Sunday !
You paint such beautiful landscapes. I'm especially interested in your use of granulating pigments. They're magic in your paintings!
Fabulous demo!
Absolutely love these !
I think more singing with Reese helps with the success of the painting. Just had no idea how much i needed a video about ground! Love how you start painting and it seems like a place i know. Cant wait til you tackle water the way you do trees and ground, i hope the Mrs. takes you for more seaside trips.
Love the Schminke Granulation sets
Oh man, these are both beautiful ~ in addition to informative 😍 ❤
Oh that's friggin gorgeous.
Absolutely gorgeous. A fantastic reminder of so many important elements and role they play! Also the importance of simplicity! Thank you, so much.
Just fabulous watching you produce these beauties! Thanks for teaching us, you are so good.
Schminke is my vavorit brand for watercolor. Even thou they are very expensive.
I was looking at the pigments of tundra violet (PB 29 and PBr 6 ) and then I mixed french ultramarin from Schmincke ( PB29 ) with Mars Brown (PBr 6) from White nights and I got a similar effect.
Incredible!
I love that you use Carol King. :) And I love the these and your approach. The super-granulation really does add magic to the scene.
That first painting was especially restful. I love how the shapes and changes in tonal value evokes a naturalistic landscape. Great video!
Thank you for a great lesson on not only how to handle the ground around your scene but also how to put in a believable tree line.
Well, well, well... gorgeous painting techniques as usual 🤗🙏🏻 will have to watch it over and over again 😳😬 thanks so much Steve You made my day 😊❤️
Time for practice 😁
They look great, also got excited about that colour separation, had talked myself out of needing those granulating colours but now I think I definately need some at least lol, thanks Steve
Great vid! Love this, thanks for sharing
Appreciate your help to improve my painting. God bless you and your family
Your technique is a remedy when you look at it.
It's like therapy as well LOL
Fantastic!!!!!
Very good advice on asking yourself questions as to why you are painting an element for instance & what does the composition need
You always enlighten and challenge me. Thank you. So glad you are posting short and longer videos.
Stunning! Could watch you paint these all day!
You are The Bomb!
Wonderful! I like that you used such a limited palette and that the one on the right used a separating color. This just makes it easier to see your process.
Love this demo, I like the Schminke colors too! I just started using them.
Wow...gorgeous...need to rewatch...thanks so much.
Steve, I've watched you off and on for 4 yrs. I enjoy your painting! I know this is odd but, I would love to see your earliest work. I mean from waaaay back. It may help that person who needs the inspiration. Whatcha think? Heheh.
Yeah maybe. If I can find any of it. Not sure how it would help though.
These are beautiful little studies!! Thank you for sharing!!
Wow, the smoothness and flow you demonstrated in these examples are astounding. It seems like a dream come to life!
Wonderful! Thanks Steve. I loved the behavior of that Tundra Violet also.
I like the focus words showing as you speak about them...nice touch.
Wow. Outstanding. Like magic.
Beautiful. I always find your demonstrations so inspiring and helpful. I will keep trying!
Thank you so much for posting these! Really helpful!
Your beautiful paintings never cease to amaze me! I definitely needed this video!
Wonderful demos...beautiful colours and love your technique.
Your work is beautiful. Thankyou for sharing your talent. I will continue watching and working with you.
Beautiful - going to try this! Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing
Absolutely beautiful
So good and so helpful! Thank you, Steve.
Thank you so much! The points you make to consider different things in the various stages of the painting really makes sense and help guide and give ideas to how we should be thinking too when we paint. They both look ethereal 🤤 so dreamy!
Ive been binge watching your vids! Thank so much for sharing all your great paintings and information!
I really enjoyed this piece...what a perfect way to start the day. Thank you, Steve.
Your style is so varied and vast. You have incredible skills as a painter and educator. Love the concept of working everything in the "WET" format in these landscapes. It just boggles my mind how you are able to create such beauty on the canvas. I have to think that the 30+ years is the reason you have gotten to this point in your style and technique. Brilliant work and information.
You are deeply appreciated for all you share.
Thank you Steve. I really enjoy your teaching. I always learn something from you. That is the first time I understood granulation. The result is beautiful.
Thank you so much for these stunning little watercolour sketches. I'm definitely going to try something like these, but using my S African bushes and trees, the indigenous vegetation of the veld. Your second sketch is reminiscent of the trees and veld near where I live. Thanks so much, you have inspired me to get loose with my paintings again...
They are beautiful studies. I’m trying to learn something from you in each video that I can use in my botanical art. Easier than you think. Picking minds is a hobby of mine!🤩
Thank you so much for being an inspiration in my art life! Your videos are wonderful, your work is amazing, and your videos are fantastic!
Awesome. I had been stuck on how to finish off my paintings. Thank you very much. I appreciate your teachings...
I found an old knarley tree near the clinic we had to visit..,I took pictures and will attempt the study of it and its branches.
I appreciate this video very much . You are dealing with a subject I’ve been wrestling with regularly
Greatt technique Steve. Love the music as well.
Very informative. I struggled with loose, spontaneous watercolors, but I keep trying. These grounding tips will me helpful. Thank you! I always learn from watching you and it’s appreciated.
This is so inspiring. You make it look so effortless, but then you explain the technical perspective you are applying as you go. Wow... just wow!
Thanks for the insights - it's interesting watching you paint through various concepts
So ive watched this 3 times in 24 hours. I've also tried to copy the painting on the left. While by no means your standard, it is one of the best paintings I've done. Thank you
Instructive, inspiring... thank you!
I love your videos Steve. I am subscribed with notifications and have been watching every video for about a year at least. Thank you for all your wonderful information. I appreciate you SO MUCH!
Beautiful little paintings--you make it look so easy (which it is not). Your depth of experience and skill is obvious.
Dang, that purple is spectacular!
This video was so good. I love watching you paint... listening to you describe what to think about while you paint, and I loved the piano! It was a perfect accompaniment to your video... it was restful and flowed beautifully with the work you were doing. It was perfect in all ways, and. I am eager to apply what you have so graciously shared with us today. Thank you!
Wow 😳!! Okay thanks for sharing this with us. You have me thinking about my painting more. The reason or purpose of the ground, rocks, trees, besides the obvious. I usually didn’t give it an thought besides the main focus point. Now I know what or why some things look wonky or off in my paintings. You are constantly giving me information & inspiration for improving my artwork.
Wonderful lesson ! Thank you !
Lovely. You make it look so easy Love it
Brilliant, as always.
Hello Steve, truly appreciate your studies. Thank you for your videos.
I wish it felt as effortless for me as it seems when you paint. I am sure much went into you reaching that level, i must practice like a man posessed. 😁
Thank you! This video is very helpful.
Mezmorizing - your have the gift
Thank you, you made me want to paint again!!!! ❤
So good!
