  • Inspection of an Aititokeidenki Japanese imperial Ships Clock Movement.
    Found multiple items that someone modified preventing clock from functioning as a reliable time piece anymore.
    Aitiokeidenki is a Japanese phrase that has three words in it: Aiti Tokei Denki
    Aiti = geographical land region in Japan similar to a county in USA
    Tokei = Clock
    Denki = Electric
    Aititokeidenki describes a clock company in the region of Aiti in Japan.
    Because of the language barrier, and rarity of these movements, vintage technical information on these Japanese movements, if it exists will most likely be in the country of Japan and written in hiragana, katakana or kanji. This makes it difficult to acquire needed information for these clocks that people have modified and butchered individual parts from their original engineered configuration.
    This company may have started business in about 1892 under the name of AICHI.
    In about 1912 the name may have been changed to Aititokeidenki, this clock was possibility made in or sometime after 1912

    Hello James, another interesting specimen with a sprinkling of butchery.
    I can't wait to see the repair video.
    I see several damaged parts that I don't think I've seen you repair before.
    Always a treat to see your masterful work.

      @jamesmartin5370 thank you, have a great Thanksgiving as well.
      By the way, I picked up a transitional "wag on the wall" project clock. It's about 75% there mechanically. Looking forward to the challenge of getting it back to a running condition.

    I believe it’s Aichi Tokei since I recognized the trademark. Owned 2 of their wall clock.

      Yes, and Aichi is the prefecture of Nagoya. Aiti was another “romanized” spelling of the Aichi prefecture.

    Mr. James Martin, muito boa tarde! Trata-se de um belo Relógio, merecia um melhor tratamento pelo seu propósito, e depois de passar pelos mexedores especulativos, ou melhor, por pseudos técnicos, nada acrescentaram de bom, ainda agora chegou o momento para a devida restauração, parabéns pelo denodo com que executas o trabalho, saudações.
    P.S. Aguardo um novo vídeo para conclusão dos trabalhos.

    A butcher has definitely visited this movement before. Wonder how many of these clocks are at the bottom of the sea? Will be interesting how "Ron from Iowa" wants to proceed.

    That has to be the most butchered movement on your channel yet. And there have been some bad ones.

      Yes, it has suffered some bungled butcher's work on it in the past.

    Mr Martin you must have had to control yourself ,not to mention the word butcher even once in the entire video.

      Even if Mr Martin wasn't saying it out loud, I could still hear him saying it.
      As for me (who has never even looked inside of a watch or clock) was certainly saying it 🤣
