Logitech G915 TKL - A year later with my favourite keyboard

- I recently crafted a video on my favourite gear (keyboards, mice and headsets) • Prawnography - my favo... and in that video I covered two devices I've been using for a long time. The Astro A50 and the Logitech G915 TKL.
Though I originally did a review of these products when I first had them, I decided it made sense to do a follow up review to talk about what they're like now.
So here it is, a video on the Logitech G915 TKL. A short video to talk about why it's my favourite keyboard and how it's held up after all this time.

Very useful video. There aren't many reviews that shows how the keyboard gets worn down after some time. You pretty much convinced me to go for the white one
Thank you. I see a lot of "white will look awful after lots of use" comments and I wanted to show that's not necessarily true.
@@TheProvokedPrawn you said your wife uses the black and you use the white, but who out of you two uses hand cream ? my partner (female) uses hand cream and I noticed that all radio buttons in car are now void of fonts , Steering wheel too is deteriorated badly too . My K70 is five years old and still looks like new. Buy her some Marigolds :)
@@TheProvokedPrawn HAHA! My little brother likes your hoodie.
I've gotta say, when I was looking for an LED keyboard, at Best Buy (US), I was about to get a Corsair or HyperX WIRED TKL. Then, as I was browsing in-store, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful that the G915 TKL was, and how portable it looked. I'm glad that I waited to see your videos, because I had seen the white variant, and fell in love with it. It's pricey, but I ended up buying the last one in my area, and adding a warranty to it.
It's worth every penny! Kudos! I've subbed.
Yeah it's a great board and thanks for the sub
This video convinced me to pull the trigger on the white version. Great to see a long term follow up. Wish we had that on more products.
This keyboard with the white g pro x Superlight is just a desktop dream.
Yeah I should do that but there's one so many products one person can use long term 🤣
It’s amazing, just get it and they go on sale…I got mine on sale :)
I have the white one also, and i've had mine almost a year I think, and it still looks brand new. I keep coming back to it. Especially for gaming, it's just so nice to use when playing games, the shorter throw on the keys and less noise = win.
Yeah, it's great.
Oh you can’t change key caps??
It's so wierd that everyones finally onboard for these keyboards for gaming. Before, everyone just wanted the clickiest and loudest keys. And, when I said I liked shorter keys people think I'm crazy. I actually preferred the chiclet feel of laptop keys but wished for a gaming variation for destop or something in between. I also modified my k95 to have shorter throw on the keys by putting two tiny o-rings under every key cap so that they wouldn't press down any further. Why have the key go like 4mm's past the actuation point? This also cut down the noise slightly which I liked. Now this keyboard seems to be exactly what I want and I just opened it up and am testing it out. I love the feel. I might want a steeper incline but maybe I've grown too used to regular boards.
i kid u not, i've watched all of ur G915 TKL videos n decided to buy the white one last month...
def the best decision i've ever made regarding getting a wireless keyboard. thank you so much!!!
Thanks! I appreciate hearing this. It's nice to hear people enjoying my stuff and agreeing with me after they've purchased as well
@@TheProvokedPrawn not to mention your voice is so calming man, like i left my yt on auto play n i ended up falling asleep lots of times due to how calming your voice is hahahaha oh not to mention that asmr G915 typing comparison is just lullaby to me thanks 😂👌
Omg! Thank you for an update on this Mr.Prawn!💚💙💜
Thanks for watching :)
The one thing I hate about the black variant is you have to have the RGB on to actually see the lettering and numbers. For some reason they chose to put black on black. 🤷🏽♀️
The black keys are not oily if you wiped it down. That is actually polishing of the keys, which is much more visible on black keys, because of the heavy usage
I am so tempted to get this keyboard! Love the content 🙂
You should!
@@noclipp You can purchase both the black or white edition with your choice of linear, tactile, or clicky key set up
@@Joosseepph13 The white one comes in only tactile
@@gwynbleidd7510 hmm you're correct. All the more reason the black version is better 😜
If anyone is thinking about buying this, be aware of the really wobbly keycaps. The sole factor that made me return it. It’s noticeable whilst typing after using a regular mechanical keyboard.
yeah i just bought it and i dont understand why people love it so much. the keycaps are so shakey, it makes it feel cheap..
It'd be nice if you provided B-roll shots and additional footage of both the black and white G915 keyboards for lighting comparison in a darker environment
I believe I did in my original comparison video (see the description links) but fair enough. Thanks for the feedback.
You should do a review of the Everest Max, I think you will really enjoy it as a keyboard, and I would love to hear your thoughts about it.
quick side note, I love you content.
Not sure why I’ve watched this 4 times in a single month but here we are. Again
Thanks 🤣🦐
Thank you man , first time i see white one and defenetly buying it becaus the firnger oil 💙
No problems
Man, this video makes me really want to get the white one, but I would prefer the linear switches, but it only comes in black. Torn between slightly better function, if really much of a difference, and amazing aesthetics.
Did you get a linear or white? Linear is much more expensive and I wonder if it works well for you compare to Tactile.
@@KhoaTran-oj3wm I ended up getting the tactile. Sort of regret not getting the linear, but I am rather happy with the board being white over black so I don't regret it that much. It's not too clicky but the linear seemed to feel better when I tried it in store.
I’m a windows user, this is one of the better keyboards out there, have tried Keychron (Q1 Pro, Q1 v2 to K3 Slim),corsair k70 pro, even a Mac Keyboard + number of Logitech wireless gaming keyboard. Still ended up preferring the 915tkl except for the micro usb port.
4:41 definitely thought that was going to say to my wife ha-ha.
Your presentation was simply magnificent.
Thank you Michael
Lovely footage, What games do you play? have you felt any input lag when wireless? Thank you.
Rainbow Six Siege, Forza 5, Ready or Not, Dying Light 2, etc. And no. Never felt lag.
I love this board. It is my favorite. I just wish the secondary characters on the keys lit up with the RGB. I mean it’s the year 2020s lol. Especially for the price point and my God they should use usb c.
I don't know what's smoother, this keyboard or the goddamn voiceover
🤣🤣
Perfect perfect perfect
I just bought this one in black with the tactile switches! Did you have many issues with the black edition with caps becoming shiny over time?
Just seen the black section now! Cheers
hey mate I've been using the black version for a little over a year and its gotten a little shiny but I didn't actually notice until I examined it just now. Its an amazing board so enjoy!
Because of you I bought my g913 tkl. 😅 thank you! More power!! 🥳
Huh, I didn't even know there was a G913! Thanks for watching though! :)
@@TheProvokedPrawnG913 is simply the name for the G915 in Asian counties. The specifications are exactly the same, there is no difference.
@@TheProvokedPrawn I think G913 is only for ASIA version? but it was the same with g915. :) Thank you sir!
Do you think it's important that the white version only has one type of mechanical switch available (Tactile) and not Linear or Clicky too like the black version?
mr prawn love your work - purchased
Thanks Kevin. Appreciate the comment and thank you for watching.
Does it harm battery when you use it wired ? or does it just full the battery and leave it like this and pretend like usb keyboard
just got mine earlier! do you know how to use the MR button?
I think MR stands for macro record. I think you press it, record your macro, and press again to save it, followed by the key you want to save it to.
I'm not 100% sure though, as I don't own the keyboard.
I have mine in year 2023 and the Enter key is a rectangle.
Depends where you are in the world. That design varies according to regional layout.
Damn you're making me return my black G915 and get the white G915.
I opted for the black one because the majority, if not all of my desktop equipment is black, except for my laptop which is a matte silver metallic color.
Either way, I prefer the aesthetics of the G915 and I love how stealthy the black one looks but that white one is sexy too 😍
The white one is much nicer imo.
How do you do this accent? And why don't you make an asmr channel :) love your vids, very useful
I'm British? ruclips.net/video/w_hgPizy0hA/видео.html
does the white have oil stains compared to the black ?
2:35 "the white version is quieter than the black version"
How so.. they used different keycap material maybe?
Different switches
The only cleaning that I've ever done with most of my peripheries is taking a baby wipe and wiping the surface of my desk and such down every few days. I wonder if that's a grossly low cleaning standard? How often do people clean their keyboards?
That's not a low standard; I do the same thing. For keyboards I usually clean them with a wipe once a week and a deep clean (pulling off all caps and blow out with air) once every couple of months.
Can anyone help find doubleshot key caps for his keyboard?
I don't think you'll find them tbh
What numpad would you recommend to use with the Logi G915 TKL white? I miss having a numpad but don't want to sacrifice the aesthetic of the keyboard. I need my alt codes!
Why not the non TKL version? It's the same aesthetic but with the numpad
@@orca6349 It only comes in black! I'm in love with the white.
@@shrike.4520 Oh, that's make sense. I didn't know that the white is just for the TKL version.
Apex Pro vs G915, which one would you choose?
G915, for the reasons mentioned
I know black keys will get shiny over time from wear and tear. How is it it on the white keycaps? It is more or less noticeable than the black one?
I've not noticed any marring or issues with the white keys
Can you do a video of how to clean this keyboard
Are the keycaps double shot ABS?
Dunno about doubleshot, but they're certainly ABS.
@@katzicael because on the switch n click website, it says they're double shot ABS. So I just wanted to be sure as they're an expensive board
Can you change the key caps to others?
You know what my problem with this keyboard is, we call it white keyboard but its silver. We call the other one black, buts its grey...
You buy the black one but put the the keys from the white one. Its a win win situation.
Have you had a chance to try out the Bang and Olufsen Beoplay Portal headphones? I’m trying to decide which wireless headsets would be best to use for my PC for gaming and everything else. I’ve narrowed it down to the Audeze Penrose and the Bang and Olufsen Portals but can’t decide. Would love to see a review from you on the Bang and Olufsens
Sadly no. But I've heard good things
You could buy the tactile version instead of clicky one for the black. :) no sound then.
White is nicer looking though. 🤷♂️
@@TheProvokedPrawn Sure. If you have a white setup and like white peripherals, sure why not. Honestly that just comes down to personal preference. :)
Can the GHUB software do a simple keyboard remap of say the 'F' key to another key, 'R' for instance. So when I press F it'll type R?
Sadly no. That's one thing that sucks. You can only reprogram the Function keys.
I surprised your keys are still intact. mine worn out within 2-3 months of usage. with the WASD keys are worn off prints.
😬 Surprising. It's now another year later nearly and my keys are still all fine. Nothing has worn off. You can see as much in the recent shots here ruclips.net/video/lfWpN2PB1pY/видео.html
I was wondering, has anyone swapped out the white keys on the TKL onto the full size version of this keyboard? I absolutely love the white TKL, but I need the full size for work. I just want them to make the full size in white, but since they don't, I'm actually thinking about swapping out the white keys on the TKL. Of course, that won't cover all the keys on the full size version, but at least it will cover the main ones. I just don't want to mess up either of these keyboards since they are SO expensive. Lol.
ebay and amazon both are same sellers and sell exact keycap replacements for around 40$ only the TKL replacement though not the number pad
Just bought one off Amazon for £113.99 (the black one)
Got the black one, we will see how it goes :)
how is it dude? are u happy with your purchase?
@@user-de9dg9rg9m very happy! Only downside is the key caps are a bit wobbly. And it’s not meant to be modded. But otherwise the linear switches are great!
@@Vividly_Doge how much was that? how much did u give for that keyboard?
Hello, over a year has passed by. Could you tell me what do you think about the keyboard after a full year? I've been thinking about buying this keyboard but a lot of people on the internet say that the keycaps tend to wear off after a while since they are made out of cheap plastic.
is there a replacement keycap for this type of keyboard?
Not that I've seen. If there are they're very hard to find and not as common as standard cherry MX style keycaps
I heard this keyboard can't even deal with half a meter away from the dongle before it drops out? That's absolutely terrible for couch gaming
Clean
Yup
Do you experience double typing for this model?
No?
@@TheProvokedPrawn thank you sir, i got g613 for about 6 months and encounter double typing even after clean it with contact cleaner. Will consider switch to G915 (G913 in my region) after warranty expires
Why do you type with only your point finger and thumb?
Because I'm mostly trying to keep fingers out of the way for people to see the keyboard and I over think how that looks 😜
a good review
Thanks. Hope you enjoyed enough to subscribe 🦐
Hey man what’s the link to the white keyboard if you know and can you reach out to me asap
Links in the description.
I really like this keyboard, however, the fact that the number row does not light up fully bothers me (edited)
The F numbers? Every key lights up on mine at the same brightness?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Hello! I meant the number row 1-0, directly under the F keys with the @ and $. Those are the key I wished were fully illuminated.
@@rawgmn curious. Do you use it over Bluetooth?
@@TheProvokedPrawn I wanted to purchase the g915. I have a Logitech G513 now and love the keyboard. I was looking at the G915 TKL to replace it, but the fact that the secondary characters on the number row are not lit is what is stopping me. The G513 dose not light up under the 1 to 0 keys either and it bugs me. I wish they did. I am looking at the Steelseries and Corsair.
I'm not sure I could use a TKL keyboard. The thought of typing in an IP address without a numeric keypad sounds horrifying.
Do you know of anywhere you can buy pbt keycaps to replace the abs?
There aren't really any replacement keycaps for this keyboard, let alone PBT.

why is the shift key small & next to the slash key? wtf
UK layout. Don't freak out. You'll also notice we have a massive enter key and it's glorious.
Bro the black one is probably oily because your wife don't wash her hands like us gamers, LOL. Jk
🤣🤣🤣
Hey can i use the keyboard while charging
Yes
Do the keys look dirty fast?
No. That was the point of the video. They don't get dirty imo
Just wash ur hands bro
Does anyone here own this white version and k70 mk2 low profile? I have them both and the brightness of the RGB of K70 is far superior than g915. Is this really the case or is there something wrong with mine? I have set max brightness on g915 already.
That's probably true. The K70 is a nice keyboard and obviously has that layerable lighting option and such. The G915 TKL is probably dimmer to save battery life. Though I wouldn't say it's dim.
I wanted the white one, but I want clicky. =(
Dude, your audio is extremely muffled.
dude, your speakers or whatever are terrible.
I love it but TKL is not for me, I want the full one like my regular G915...hopefully Logitech will release one in the future.🤞🤞🤞
I'm going with an all White/RGB build as I'm bored of Gray/Black/Dark builds and this will be so awesome as I love the G915 KB.
Hello Prawn ! This G915 keyboard has a major problem! Only half of the keys are illuminated. This is totally stupid !!! A G513 has the whole keys illuminated. Why not an 815 or a 915?
When it is dark, you will have to look for the semicolon, dot, and all the special characters. Let's not even talk about European keyboards which are reversed (numbers at bottom => not illuminated at all !). It's even worse, you'll have to look for the numbers!
Really, it sucks and I don't understand why nobody point at this. Same for 815, 915 and all gaming keyboards from Logitech.
you could build a custom mech keyboard for what the G915 costs
That's a dangerous/expensive road to travel
Custom still doesn't have the same features as the g915 and tends to be more expensive.
See this is the thing woman say us men are dirty and known not to be as clean as them ha ha this comparison says other wise.. In our house it's always me that has the place clean not my Mrs ! All the skin care oils and makeup they use obviously shits up the place more including keyboards :-) And it took The Provoked Prawn to prove this point well done good sir power to us male geeks lol .. Just ordered the dark version of the keyboard as it's now only £179.00 in PC World thanks for the vid
Hi, I come to this video because I dont know if buy G915 or not, I mean for the keycaps. I saw a review of a guy who broken one keycap (under the keycap) and Logitech does not has warranty with this... and in the comments I saw a guys who are telling that "the first impressions was good, but now its a shit"... so idk bro whay do u think?
