I have a 2007 I bought 3 years ago as a Christmas present to myself a year later I did heads cam intake exhaust whole thing cam is similar to a BTR stage 3. It did 645 on the dyno. The interior may not be the best but I think it feels like more of a drive is car compared to the new ones you feel a lot more input. For me this one is a keeper I don't think GM will be able to replicate the feeling you get from this car
It’s a legendary sports car. Not a muscle car. Does it have muscle? Hell yes, but it’s all about the HP to weight ratio and the lateral grip on this thing. Love my C6Z! Glad you’re tracking it. That’s what it’s designed for.
I realize this is my second comment, however it has almost been 3 years of ownership for my 2006 corvette z06. As previously mentioned mine has a cam and cai. The drivability is great with the cam, and still retains decent gas mileage with all of that and making 527whp. Your gas mileage will sufffer in any car on a track lol. My uncles 911 turbo gets 7 mpg on the track. It is what it is. I don't think that is a valid gripe. My experience seems to vary slightly than yours. I actually love yellow, but it definitely has to have black rims, black roof and tinted windows. This is definitely a better look. I daily my car in the summer and I now have 16,000 miles on it. I don't really have any issues with the interior, I never got why some people hammer on it so much. My uncle has a 2008 911 turbo and his interior is not much different than this corvette's. To me this interior is quite good for 2006. Miles better than the c5, that was disgusting. I don't have any rattles and sure there are some gimmicky parts here and there, but its hard not to have those when your car is 16 years old. The car sat for a number of years and things just break down and wear out over time. Not driving the vehicle sometimes is the worst thing you can do to it. I pushed on the dash, center console, side door panels and none of them rattle or seem very cheap. You do have to remember that this car is actually very well built. The tremec trans is amazing, the engine is amazing (besides the valve drop issue). The tire sizes are perfect, the suspension is fantastic, brakes. The car utilizes carbon fiber, magnesium, aluminum etc. It's a very purposed built light car. I bought mine for 35k and it had 9,970 miles on it. I was 25 when I bought it. Can't imagine spending 80k on a 2013 c6 z06, with essentially the same car....its laughable to me. Plus these cars can reliably make 550-575whp without having to upgrade anything, not even the clutch and it will last!!! That's insane. This car still puts modern cars with crazy expensive carbon fiber interior to shame. I'm also glad my car doesn't have tons of carbon fiber on the outside, because I surely do not want to replace that if I were to scrape it, screw that. This car in 2006 was an absolute animal and shredded its enemies across the water for less than half the price. My uncle wanted to get his spark plugs changed on his porsche - $4,000 because they had to drop the motor. Everything that needs fixed on that car is insane - granted not much has needed fixed because they are some of the most well built cars on this planet. Anyways, this is the end of my take and rant. I did enjoy your video and think your car looks badass. To each his own and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I still do!

I have an 06 Z06, yellow. Black roof, tinted windows, gloss black cf5v wheels, cold air intake, cam - 527. It looks sick and it feels nasty. Love the yellow on black. You can see the character of the body as opposed to having an all black one.
When GM, Ford and Mopar put out cars as well rounded as the Z06, Hellcat, Scat Pack and GT350, it makes building a project car more humbling. Have to be a really good builder to make an old car competitive with the new stuff. Basically have to pick just one discipline to be good at.
Kinda funny, I absolutely love yellow Z06’s and am planning on buying one. It’s great that I’ll be able to save some cash by getting the colour I want! 😂

im in the Uk , and I've always loved these c6 z06's . Yellow would normally be bottom of my list but to be honest it looks really nice with those black wheels. Great bang for your buck is the common reviews i Hear on these cars. 09 saw a few changes to the c6 z06 ... am i right in saying the gearbox was different and stronger then pre 09 ones?
Yes I heard the transmission are a little better, my 06 has the T-56 and I think a year or two after that they started putting the TR6060's in them. Both are tremec and great! There was a guy on youtube, among many others, that had a 08? z06. It was supercharged and made roughly 825whp. He beat on it for two years without building the engine (which he should have) and it finally blew. However the transmission was still going strong. These cars are very reliable. If you ever get the opportunity, I would get one!!!

I’m scared to get into it because I’m scared I might get bored or want to change my mind later on ( since it’s a manual ). I’ve been looking at 392’s wide body , the new 2020 SS’s and while this one is my favorite and I understand I’m not buying it for the tech . How do you think they’ll hold up for the years to come ? I can only last 1/4 of the day tops at Mosport. Get drunk way to fast and go bushwhacking, and climbing all those sand hills with my Hyundai Pony. Half naked by the way.
Have a 2007 Z06 loaded Black/Black bone stock showroom new still with 6000 miles. I would consider selling it for the right price! Original one owner. Have too many cars
I’ve had my C6 Z06 2 and a half years and I am on my third engine from GM. It’s not always the dropped valve. Last engine failure was a rod knock. I love my car, I love the LS7 engine, but this car has cost almost double the value of the car in repairs if you really want to enjoy the car to it’s limits. The other comment was correct, the LS7 was also in the Z28 but supposedly didn’t share the valve issue for some reason.
Luckily no, I had an extended warranty which paid $15k for the engine and I had paid 5k for the oil system replacement in order to get a GM warranty on the repairs 3 years 100k miles and the new engine blew in 2 years so they replaced it all under warranty no questions asked. All in all, there has been $40k in warranty repairs and about 8k in repairs I have paid out of pocket. I paid $35k for the car at the time including a warranty for about $2,500 of that and has paid for itself about 16 fold.

I only had a Vararam Intake on it, to be able to maintain the warranty. First failure was a valve drop at 70k miles and the second a rod knock at 105k miles. I daily my car and drive it like I stole most days plus I track it so I am probably at fault for the failures or increased wear and tear. I have come across people that opt for an LS3 because they couldn’t afford the LS7 replacement which I completely understand. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without a warranty. If your car has decent low miles, try getting a 3rd part power train warranty. It’s definitely worth the peace of mind. But if you don’t track or beat on the car much it should last a long long time.

Budget about the price of the car in additional upgrades. Theoretically you could stop at heads cam clutch, but be honest with yourself. You’ve always wondered what 1,000 whp feels like. I’m at 700 RWHP and have now run out of blower (Novi 1500). Just $3,500 for a YSi V7.

Sounds like you hate the car in general, you shouldn't have bought a cheap car. You should have bought something else. I don't believe that you would have to pay more if you got a different color. Orange may be rare to you but it's not a color that everybody would want. I would choose yellow over orange any day. Unless I was buying a Mclaren 720S. But seriously you dislike to many things on this car and you say your cheap, well looks like your spending a lot of money getting it right. Your not cheap your just plain picky.

I use it on the road course and the drag strip, works great on both. This weekend going to try out some roll racing.

LS7 was in c6 z06 and z28, but in the Camaro torque was 481 ft lbs vs 470 ft lbs in the vette!
