  • Two old school Dodge muscle cars drag race at the Irwindale 1/8th mile drag strip for a 70 Challenger vs 73 Dodge Charger showdown. On the prepped track we'll get more traction than street racing, so tire selection comes into play. I'm in my 5.7 Gen 3 Hemi V8 swapped 1970 Dodge Challenger and RUclips car builder, welder, and master mechanic ‪@NightWrencher‬ is in his 1973 Dodge Charger with a 361 cubic inch big block V8. It's a battle of fuel injection vs carburetor, manual transmission vs automatic, drag radials vs street tires. The 5.7 Hemi vs big block Mopar V8, no nitrous nos, no twin turbo, just all motor classic V8 muscle car horsepower.

      Yea it’s good to see the older Charger but a 360 😂 You should’ve asked the other dude in the challenger to count to three very slowly and give you a little bit of a chance at least you wouldn’t have lost by much that way.
      I don’t mean to be rude but I own a 72 charger. Take the 360 & toss it in the scrap iron pile where it belongs.

    I will admit I glossed over this video to see your et and speed. Using one available calculator. The car would have gone mid 13's and a little over 100 mph. The donor engine was rated at 330hp I believe. That trap speed and et estimates 320ish hp.
    My point is your build was roughly 10k total cost. 15% drive line loss from the crank to the tires. That engine makes ballpark 380 hp.
    These results are making me seriously reconsidering a swap and mild build.

      Should I leave the coil packs it have right now then, when I bought the engine they told me that it had 48,000 miles on it I open the engine to make sure everything was ok inside, it looks immaculate clean, should I just replace spark plugs only?

      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +1

      @@JuanDominguez-nw8rq just get rid of all of the column shift stuff, and search your model number of transmission with "shifter". You should find a bunch of options, and a cable operated one is probably easiest to setup.

      Yeah I know, but way the shifter lever leans toward driver side it makes the T handle very uncomfortable when it’s side-to-side. I’m not trying to miss shifts and make my wrist sore just so the knob is more visually pleasing haha.

    rear is lifting ,,,, when power hits ,, thinkn it should squat ,,,

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +1

      You're correct that the rear end squatting does mean good weight transfer to the rear tires, however I think the CalTracs traction bars have a tendency to push the rear tires down into the ground, thus lifting the rear. That said, I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to drag racing, lol.

    Why do people put the shifter Handel sideways like he has his...makes no sense...

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  2 года назад +2

      It makes for a more solid grip on the shifter when drag racing. I'm sure it depends on what angle the shift lever is bent at, in my case it's bent back pretty far so the sideways T-handle is in a pretty natural position 👍
