ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I *highly* doubt anyone will know what I'm talking about but when I was 13 and watched this magical girl anime called Mermaid Melody for the first time, it changed my life and I became obsessed with mermaids (and Japan). I'm 27 now and this aesthetic along with the remake of The Little Mermaid makes me feel so nostalgic.
Oh yes the little mermaid remake is prob a contributor to the rise of mermaidcore too! And i dont know that anime but i always have a soft spot for magical girl animes 🥰
I really want to like mermaid melody. I love magical girl, and I adore mermaids, but I just couldn't get into that series. I do like Lettuce from Tokyo Mew Mew, and she had a huge influence on one of my own magical girl characters, who can become a mermaid under certain conditions.
I literally watch mermaid melody once every summer since I was a kid 😭😭😭

This is so beautiful! I saw a shell necklace at the thrift recently and it was so iridescent and pretty but I was worried it wouldn’t go with my usual darker look. Not that it has to but I didn’t want to purchase if I wouldn’t wear it. (As an animist, it makes me feel bad when I used use something and let it shine lol) Sirencore sounds right up my alley. Also the fact that my chart is DROWNING in water energy.

If you want to make this work for winter, throw on a fluffy fur coat, and you got Selkie-core ^^

Such a great video! When I heard the label, I definitely was thinking along the 2016 lines and was confused by the pinterest boards, but this clears it up. It's more like the mermaid princess who's washed ashore, not the one who's turned up ready for the club.
It'll be interesting to see who wins the aesthetic battle this summer, this or Barbiecore.

I’ve been into mermaid stuff since 2010 or so and there’s a perfume you can still get I used called True Religion and the bottle is Mermaidcore. I highly recommend the perfume. It has a sea breeze kind of smell and the bottle is gorgeous.
