ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I've had a lot of fun learning how to put together outfits and use different styles to tell a story through the way I dress. I started this channel to share what I learn along my fashion journey and hopefully help others learn and find their style as well.
I post videos 1-2 times a week, mostly regarding fashion but may include a few beauty/makeup and lifestyle related videos as well. If you're interested in this content, please give my channel a shot and subscribe! - Хобби
as someone who practice witchcraft and the lifestyle around it i appreciate your disclaimer in the beginning about knowing that you shouldn’t try to practice it just based on the aesthetic. it is more of a spiritual journey and about having a connection to the earth and everything over being a religious practice. loved the video though ❤️
Someone can be a witch and have no connection to spirituality, the earth, of anything else. Or they could be wiccan and that's their religious. Or they could just do spells. No one speaks for all witches.
@Rheaddonite Mezereum that’s more than enough
@@serenityjewel i wasn’t speaking for anyone but myself there’s many different fins of witchcraft and the religions within the practice in general.
Ummm @serenityjewel I mean if one has 0 connection to SPIRITUALITY (witch does not mean actual spirits) or the earth, or ANYthing, I'm kinda wondering what their practice looks like....? But I'm sure there's a completely understandable answer some where
Your cat knew this was the appropriate aesthetic to pop in 😤 Love the tail cameo.
Also a big fan of this aesthetic when it's a little less on the nose, especially whimsigoth. The combination of femme and darkness is extremely appealing.
He’s a paid actor 😌✨
Ooo yes im thinking of doing a whole video on whimsigoth!
@@dressrelief ahh that would be amazing
I love how your cat comes in for a witch core video, too funny
I love how you warned about how the witchcraft aesthetic could possibly be appropriation. I appreciate you mentioning more ethical brands! 💚
oh of course! I always try to mention any possible controversies when I talk about aesthetics, I think it's important to consider what you're supporting/what values you're promoting when building a wardrobe, and try to be as respectful as possible :)
Ah this is my kind of style, a witchy or sorceress style heavily influenced by goth and can lean highly femme with the use of long flowing garments.
I'm a witchcraft history and fantasy enthusiast, and a long standing lover of goth and goth music. I have been since my teens and all of that has organically bled into my style and the things I enjoy in life.
Witchy as an aesthetic vs as a practice has been contentious but witchcraft and witchyness has a vast number of forms and cultural ties, being fairly diverse even in how it's practiced, and from what little I know, since no culture is a monolith, most people seem more tolerant of the aesthetic as it pertains to style vs doing any practices for fun (like sage burning, which already has its own issues.)
Yesss i also love this style bc of how feminine it is but still uses a lot of darker colors 😊 and thank u for your insight on witchcore/witchcraft! It definitely gets a little difficult to tread between culture vs aesthetics but i dont mean to be disrespectful at all!
@@dressreliefFor sure! Your video was nothing but respectful and I totally understand erring on the side of caution.
@@LadyAhro as a wiccan I find using "witchy" as a trend is pretty crass to me for witches can look like anything, there's no style, you don't have to dress like baisicly stevie nicks or like your a "Hogwarts grad" 🙄 Harry potter is the furthest thing from true witchcraft practice, so all of that I find to be a young/instatrend whatever the kids call it
@@midnightwitch606 It's true but the practice of Witchcraft and the imagery goes well beyond Wicca. And many non Wiccan witches exist in variety of practices. Including the Skeptic, Agnostic and Science Seeking witches about.
Much of the imagery and iconography has a complicated history. Some elements rather steeped in antisemitism unfortunately. (Particularly the green skin and hooked nose associations unfortunately.) I'm still looking into the origins of the stereotypical fashions and fashion imagery and but they've been embraced and rejected in equal measure by the various communities. Because of that, calling the associated style imagery some variation on 'witchy' or not has not been rejected en masse considering there can't be a set consensus from so many groups. There is no witchcraft monolith. But I do call my fashion Sorceress-like more than I call it "witchy" most of the time to emphasise that I personally draw from fiction and social perceptions. Other styles have similar origins despite the reality of their inspiration being not sharing a lot with the reality or lived experiences.
(If this is incoherent, it's a 5am post pre-migraine)
A witchy brand I can highly recommend - Cosmic Drifters :) Size inclusive and handmade in UK.
Thank you for the suggestion! Their prints are so cute
They're closed
Witchvibes: A cat familiar who opens doors and to whom you talk. Thank you for cautioning about appropriation. The Craft, being an earth based spirituality doesn’t endorse being fast fashion, which is earth detrimental. Shop second hand and consider using plant dues to dull and darken colours.
A bit like boho goth, which is my sort of style. Except I like gothic and steampunk corsets. Brilliant video, thanks for the clear breakdown! A suggestion for another aesthetic video could be vampirecore, I don't think I've seen any YT videos about how to dress vampirecore, only TikToks.
I was actually just wondering if there’s such thing as vampirecore!! I’ll have to look into it, I love that kind of style 😊
@@dressrelief VampireGoth is another name for it and it definitely has a sizable tiktok presence
You covered the aesthetic so well!!!
Such great video. Been loving witchy vibes xx🖤✨️
Why did you come in if you was immediately going to leave? Every cat owner ever 😂😅
Cats are part of the aesthetic. That's why they came in. They were "helping."
I found your channel a few days ago and I love your videos! I was just watching some of your older videos and looked for witchy vibes and then this came up haha perfect timing✨
Haha yay I’m glad i could help! 🥰
For my Jojo’s fans out there
When she said tarot cards, my mind said “STA PLATINUM!!!!”

Wicca is a religion. Witchcraft is a craft. You can be one and not the other, or you can be both.
What's the song @ 2:50?
it's a royalty free song called Sunshower by LATASHÁ :)
@@dressrelief 😊
Punk style please🙏
I used to call myself a witch because I was doing something very feminist for which I'd most probably be burnt at stake last century and now I realised I aslo dress witchy because that's what I actually like.

Hi beginner witch here! Just wanted to say witchcraft can be a religion BUT it does not have to be.
Witchcraft isn't a religion, but it is a spiritual practice
Ah thank you for the correction!
A spiritual practice is a religion.
Actually spirituality and Religion are two separate things (and so are their practices). A religion is defined as a specific set of organised beliefs and practices typically shared by a group or community. Some examples being Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Wicca and paganism. Spirituality on the other hand can be different depending on the individual, for example some people don't like the idea of hexing others, while others do. Spirituality can be done alongside religion (which is why the witchcraft community has people who are wiccan, pagan, Christian etc practicing it) but they aren't inherently the same.
@Halley
You kidding right......😂😂😂
Wicca is a neo pagan religion, I'm wiccan, you might want to do some research.
@@dressrelief Wicca is a neo pagan religion, you was right in the first place, you didn't need correcting
