    Letting the spot welds show is how they were. Good choice.

      Yeah, I actually like the way it looks with the spot-welds visible. They weren’t built to be pretty just utilitarian, and I think that there is a certain beauty in that.

    Nice job. These things are 18 gauge steel so you have a lot to work with. You have a very good tub considering it's age. I wish mine was as good. Way back in the '70's I discovered body shutz and undercoated mine like that , all inside and underneath. I'm paying the price now that I'm restoring it, scraping it all off. I cringe when I see guys using this bed liner stuff on them, some day somebody will be cursing them for that. BTW, there was probably lead in the paint on some of those layers, you might want to invest in some decent dust masks. I could almost taste it while you were doing it.

      I didn’t even think about it having lead in the paint. Luckily the day(s) we did it there was a bit of a breeze. I am going to tackle the bed liner in the tub this week. I’ve been putting it off because it doesn’t come off with the surface conditioning tool very good so I’ll have to scrape it off. Then I can start plugging holes.
