This movie has more whiplash in the first ten minutes than entire years' worth of movies do, and it's done super well. Such a great movie.
instant classic because of it!it made Pixar a powerhouse to be reckoned with surpassing other animation studios!now its closed I think!
I sob every single time I watch the first 10 minutes, then again at the award ceremony. It’s such a great movie. Probably one of Disney’s best modern movies
The way this movie can go from funny to sad to squirrel... sorry, to funny again. Emotional rollercoaster. Great reaction
Nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture, but won for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score.
I love the score from this film! I love the whole thing .
This movie moved my son so much that he learned to play the theme song on the piano. He also built the Up house out of Legos, which sits on the piano.😊
You're son must be a sensitive kid. I love it!
*_PIXAR has a knack for hitting the right emotional cord in people’s heart, blindsiding them into tears, but usually that moment comes in much later in the movie: UP sets itself appart from all the other by ripping your guts out in the first 10 or so minutes of the movie (Which is no small feat!!)._*
Once upon a time, my grandpa and I visited England for about a week. Grandma wanted me to go slow because Grandpa "needed" a cane to get around. That was quite unnecessary; I'm already slower than molasses on a cold day and Grandpa kept telling me to hurry up. On our way back, Grandpa "accidentally forgot" his cane in the trunk of the car.
That 7 minute segment at the beginning of UP is the best short story Pixar has ever created.
Some things reactors seem to miss or at least don’t call out:
The pilot dog’s are called “Gray #” because they are color-blind and play off the Red Squadron of SW: A New Hope. Also, when they crash it is identical to the death star trench run when Darth Vader and his wingmen are picked off by Han and Chewie.
The beginning of this film is HEARTBREAKING, but I love the story that follows.
This is my fav Disney movie🎉
I was going through some dark times in my life and I feel like this films a major reason of why I’m still here…
Some movies can re-ignite the fire in yourself that you lost.
I’m glad you enjoyed it and your reactions mean more than you could possibly know ❤
the ice cream parlor they visit at the end is a REAL place- Fenton's Creamery in Oakland.
Oh wow, I never noticed russel was referring to a badge. I thought he was just saying he knew zoology. Thanks for pointing that out… literally!
Well, he literally says he's trying to get his "Assisting the Elderly" badge as it's the last one he needs and he points to the one empty spot amidst a bunch of badges...
They're referring to when he says zoology laying on the ground. He bends over and points at his chest.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Ah, that's what I get for reading some comments before watching the video lol. Forgot about that part until watching, only remembered the part of him pointing while on the front porch.
This is from 2009, not TOO old.
Not remotely old. Not even old enough to vote.
Thank You for this reaction. I've had a really sad day and seeing your reactions always makes me smile.
Yeah, the amount of balloons used I lift the house is about the amount that would be needed to lift about 35-50 lbs. Mythbusters tested how many balloons it would take to lift a small child up in the air. It looked pretty close to the amount used here lol
I love how the top dog sounds like Alvin and the Chip... SQUIRREL!
I’m a “Disney Adult”…when you are at Disneyland and you come across a cast member who went above and beyond to make sure you have an exceptional Disney experience you can give them a grape soda Ellie Badge. I always bring some when I go to the park (I buy them online) It’s a high honor for them to get one for their lanyard ☺️
Yup this movie got me too! I actually got to test the mobile hame for this which was pretty fun.. had to navagte the house through damgerous side scrolling levels!
Never saw "Up," but here are some trivia bits I can do for it.
- Released in 2009; directed by Pete Docter; written by Bob Peterson, Pete Docter, and Tom McCarthy.
- Nominated for 5 Oscars in 2009: Best Picture (only the second animated film ever nominated), Best Original Screenplay, Best Animated Feature Film, Best Original Score, and Best Sound Editing. It won in two categories - Animated Feature Film and Original Score for its composer Michael Giacchino.
- In an amazing coincidence, Ed Asner (the voice of Carl) and Christopher Plummer (the voice of Charles Muntz) were both born in 1929, and both died in 2021. Asner was older by about four weeks (November 15 for him, December 13 for Plummer).
- Ed Asner was the only actor to win Emmy Awards in comedy and drama categories for playing the same character.
Check out the series Dug Days. The opening theme shows that Carl sold the Spirit of Adventure, split the money with Russell, and used his half to buy himself and Dug a new little house. And then Russell and his mom used his share to buy the house directly next door! 😊
You should watch Monsters Inc, also from Pixar
Such a good movie. Thanks for the cry, James!
Great reaction James! Funniest comment ever “yeah, he’s dead, four balloons” 😂
James I hope you'll get to Inside Out and Soul. Those two and Up are my top three Pixar movies.
The whole thing with Russel’s dad and Phyllis is that Phyllis is Russel’s step-mom. His parents are divorced
And when Phyllis says that Russel bugs him too much it's obvious she is trying to separate them and it seems to be working.
Not even Russell's step-mom. Just the new wife (or girlfriend) of his dad, with little to no relationship between her and Russell..
It's not really clear who she is. She could be the babysitter who watches him when his dad is away.
@@bjm9071 Oh FFS are you dim or been living under a rock? Phyllis is clearly the new wife or girlfriend. You obviously have never been around the kids of divorced parents. The language reads like a manual of alienating your husbands previous kid.
So the setup for this movie is the same setup for Steven Spielberg's "Batteries Not Included" minus the soul crushing death of a beloved spouse😢 in the first ten minutes😊
R.I.P Ed Asner (1929-2021) & Christopher Plummer (1929-2021) AKA the voices of Carl Fredricksen & Charles Muntz
A reaction from James to finish “up” my work day.
James, this one will tug at your heartstrings. Great movie but heartbreaking in so many ways.
Hope you have a Great Weekend James! Thanks for the upload your the best!
One of my favorites! Still cry every time tho❤
Cool, one of my favorite animated films. Definitely somewhere in the top 3.
Squirrel!
There is a Airbnb in the states somewhere that is a replica of the house including the balloons hanging from a crane. It looks so cool. The harry potter tent hotel is epic tho in America somewhere too. You guys have all the best stuff even tho most of the places they filmed harry potter are just a bus ride away from where i live, those " tent" rooms are incredible. I would love to go and stay there.
Title: SO SAD!
Thumbnail: 🤣
😂 👍🏻
Your laugh is contageous thank you for your reviews
Awww I love up
I cried so much in this movie
Yesss!!! I’ve been waiting for you to react to UP!!! One of my favorite newer movies
Inside Out
They created a quick (under 2 minutes) video called "Doug in Real Life" that is funny. I think you'd enjoy it. Maybe you could make a super-short reaction, but you wouldn't have to do so.
Great reaction James, love your content.
Thanks for the adventure. Now, go have a new one, breaks me every time
PIXAR perfection.
I absolutely love this movie but it has one major major plot hole. It's clear that Carl is at least in his 70's when he embarks on his journey with his floating house. If that is the case then Charles Munz would be a MINIMUM of 95 years old. Kinda impossible but either way a great movie!
I remember something about an explanation in the script that was not filmed where we learned that Kevin's species laid eggs that had life extending properties and that's how Munz was still alive.
Guess I'm gonna cry. 😅
Hermione should have looked like Ellie.
Hermione usually did look like Ellie, especially in the first few movies, only more book accurate, with mid length curly hair as opposed to straight and short like Ellie's.
Great movie. it is such a great and different animation movie. It deals with real life you almost forget it is an animation movie. It is both funny and Sad. I was never interested seeing animation movies until I saw this movie. You should also watch Big Hero 6 which is also a great movie like this.
you should watch Toy Story 4
I LOVE your T-shirt. Where did you get it?
My wife bought it for me. Sorry
Probably Amazon, I’ve seen shirts like that on Amazon website
oh no.
😎👍
Thank you for doing the promo for 'betterhelp', it does go along with your motto----YOU ARE AWESOME!
This is a great movie along the same type of subject, because the people in the movie -(Yes, they are real....in our imagination!), go through life changes too!
I clicked on your Mummy video before you deleted it so.. double feature for me!! 😁
Yeah, that comes out next week. Not sure how that happened
@@AwesomeUSMoviesI posted a comment that said "Wait, what happened to UP?" And not even 30 seconds later the video was gone. For some reason youtube on Xbox allows watching the entire video even after it's been deleted, I am 9 minutes into the video and I don't even think it was posted for 5 minutes.
I get not knowing about movies, but not knowing if you went to Disneyland or Disney World? What state were you in?
I was very little
@@AwesomeUSMovies let’s put it this way, were you more likely to have been in California or Florida? California = Disneyland, Florida = Disney World.
UP is 2009 not 1990’s
People cry about Ellie dying. But the real adventure is after that. The old fart doesn't realise till the end. Didn't realise he'd had an adventure before.
Yes, but it's heartbreaking because they dreamed their whole lives of taking that adventure together. That's why people cry
You need to look into your sponsorships. Better help is shady AF.
Not the reaction to watch after smoking a little.
😢
Screw retirement homes. Better to keep your independence than stagnate.
If you're not able to be independent, a pricey continuing care community can be great if you can afford it. If a company would pay for that for me I would take it!
