Thanks Sean, very much appreciated. We really are loving every minute of it...although it puts us out of our comfort zones quite regularly😂 Thanks again👍
Crikey, I'm exhausted just watching your video. Well done on sharing your amazing experience of your immersion into Thai culture. Have fun on your next adventure 😄❤ xx
Thanks Janet, We had an absolute blast! Bangkok really did surpass all of our expectations. The Thai people are all so lovely and they are making the trip for us. We have found our tribe- that consist of only smiley, polite and happy people. Thanks as as always for the support.👍
It’s mind blowing stuff, lovely seeing your open minded, wide eyed joy at what you are greeted with. It’s been 30 years since I last went to Bangkok but went through the same emotions. Once you have sampled the culture, time to conquer the food ! Thats amazing if you embrace the heat, fragrance and fish sauce 😂
Thanks Adam, there were so many wide eyed moments😂 We are taking baby steps with the food, but getting there. It is so fresh and tasty (and cheap!). I have even had my first papaya salad which is legendary in these parts...wow it was spicy hot and I only asked for medium😬 It has a hefty dose of fermented fish sauce that I tried not to focus on...but it tasted really good. Thanks for the comment👍
Thanks for this. You can probably tell we are having a blast, so it's not too difficult to keep it up beat. We are just so glad we got the adventure off to a good start as we were a little apprehensive about Bangkok in particular. Thanks for the comment👍
Thank you so much for bringing back many precious memories of my visit to Bangkok with my daughter 15 years ago. Your beaming faces say everything we need to know about your experiences on the trip so far❤
Thanks Helen- does it show that easily? We are having an absolute blast and loving our time so far. Bangkok surpassed all of our expectations and we are just keeping finger crossed this feeling continues. Glad that it has revisited some happy memories for you. We are just building them day by day out here. Thanks for the comment. 👍
I really enjoyed watching your wide eyed SuperCity experience! These types of cities (Hong Kong etc) are exhausting 😅 with frequent wrong turns leading to unique unexpected delights or shocks 😝 One Tip I’d give others is that on arrival at BKK airport- go to the basement to swap money and get your SIM cards, also the local mozzie repellant that’s in the pink bottle. If you’re worried about tummy upsets buy White Rabbit medicine at a pharmacy and take immediately you experience any symptoms. I’m really enjoying these vlogs…. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this Bonny- we certainly were wide eyed at many points over the 5 days😂 We quite liked the wrong turns, as we always felt petty safe. There was only one walk that we did to the old station of Thon Buri that felt a little bit risky. We have already sourced the bug juice and it is ace- thanks for that one. Not sure if it is urban myth or not, but lots of people said to not buy sims or currency in the Airport as better deals are to be had down town. We took a little cash with us to keep us going, but bought in the UK at the appalling rates that the UK offers😬 Will keep the white Rabbit info until we need it😉 We are also trying to source the local medicinal bite treatment that is meant to be legendary, just in case the bugs get past the pink bug juice. Thought it would be good to bring home for the UK bugs too. Thanks for your continued kind comments👍
Fabulous video , so interesting to see the markets and the fast pace, hopefully this will prepare us for our own trip in 9 weeks . I’ve written down a few of your suggestions especially the river trip . Keep the vlogs coming we can’t wait to see what’s next , have an amazing time .
We were really not sure what to expect from Bangkok but absolutely loved it once we got there - they were long, hot, tiring days but there is so much to see and do! I did struggle at times with some of the areas you go through and the obvious poverty - it is a very different culture and way of life! Have a great trip ✈️🛕
@ thank you so much, I’m sure it will be an eye opener for sure . We are going to Chiang Mai after r days in Bangkok . Look forward to your next check in. 🙌🏼
Fab video! You're going to have an amazing time. Have visited similar places a few times and understand how overwhelming it can be. Take time to rest when you need it and you'll be fine. Looking forward to the next part of the adventure 😀
Thanks for these wise words Helen, we are already realising the importance of this. Our first 9 days were pretty hectic, but we are now on island time in Koh Lipe which is just what we need to wind down. We have taken a few days to just lie in the sun and do very little. Thanks for the comment👍
Great video. This reminded me of our first visit to South East Asia, Thailand (Chiang Mai) , that first day visiting temples was just the most amazing experience and the cultural/senses overload was something I will never forget. Like yourselves I had never experienced anything on my travels that could match that feeling. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks for this Paul, great that it has brought back some good memories. Chiang Mai will have to wait for our next trip as we have made the commitment to head south now. As you would expect, I love the Buddhist philosophy, so the opportunity to visit the temples has been a real positive of our time in Bangkok. Thanks for comment👍
So many new experiences - I really enjoyed seeing the temples and those exquisite historic structures! So glad this lovely adventure continues (with a few 7-eleven’s thrown in for good measure 😂😂)
Thanks for this Sharon, we are glad that you are enjoying the footage. The 7-Elevens are a saviour when we are struggling and need a sugar hit and some western comfort food. You cannot believe how great those toasties taste when you are hot and tired😂 Thanks for the comment👍
Just WOW watching your videos, experiences and excitement. 😅 The quality of your filming and editing is really good. Your video really shows so much of the city. Tge shopping, the statues at temples. So glad you're having such a good time. Well deserved. It is tiring. Which reminds me that we forgot to mention getting as many Thai massages as possible! Even foot massages at Chattachuk. They're not expensive and so well worth it to rejuvenate the body. Especially when lying on the beach!! I also forgot the papaya salad! Divine. Pad Thai is another easy non spicy dish. Glad you found the 7-elevens and their toasties and aircon! Much looking forward to the rest of your travels and videos. But no pressure. Enjoy yourselves and get the balance right.
Many thanks Julian for your continued support, advice and guidance. It is very much appreciated. We are yet to try out a Thai massage, although everyone is encouraging us to do so. Guess we just need to get on with it in the next few days. The trip really is surpassing all of our expectations and we are so glad we made the commitment just do it. Thanks again👍
Wow that’s a lot to see, almost futuristic 😂. Lots going on I think my brain would be information overload. Well done for navigating your way through that. I’m exhausted watching from what seems like a very sleepy Shropshire. 😊
Your correct about the street food looking a little strange, but we had one of our best meals in China Town from a street hawker, we watched it being cooked, oh wow was it good. Think it cost £3 for the two of us, but stunning, it was so good. Give it a go. Enjoying the videos . Nigel
Thanks for this Nigel, we are moving closer to it day by day as our confidence grows. It looks and smells amazing, we just need to tackle the hurdle of cleanliness and perhaps reframe our thinking😂😉 Glad that you are enjoying what we are doing. Thanks for the comment👍
Gosh! What an experience that city is. Must be a real culture shock. You did amazingly to cram in so much so quickly. Hope you find quieter spots to relax a little soon though.
Thanks for this. Rest assured, we are already in a quieter spot and loving it. That's not to say we didn't love Bangkok, we did- it really surprised us, as you can probably tell from the video. It was a great, yet intense, immersion into SE Asia. Thanks for the comment👍
I’m enjoying the virtual travel with you. The temples were incredible, and I’m glad that food horizons are being expanded. The fish garnishes and sauces give umami….sort of the way that anchovies do in Western cuisine. Thanks for a great video.
Always check the Mastercard and Visa interchange rates. We just tend to use our debit card with perfect rates. We never change more than around £50 at a go. I just checked today and I would get a rate of 43 straight from the cash point. You do not want to be left with lots of foreign currency!
Thanks for this Simon- we definitely need to change up our card game as the Post Office card is a bit out dated and doesn't offer the best terms. Our bank also is not too kind with cash transactions😬 We are thinking of following our kids and getting a revolute or starling bank account that is so much more modern in thinking and terms for travel. Thanks for the tip👍
We're travelling to Thailand in the next few weeks, so your video is really timely! We're interested why you didn't go for an eSim for data or use ATM for cash out? Thanks again, and we love how you're so willing to step out of your comfort zone and share that with us.
We were advised by various friends who have travelled in Thailand that you could get really stung with ATM charges for withdrawing cash and a not so great exchange rate apparently to get the best exchange rates you need clean £50 notes (no pen marks) which seemed to work well for us so far? Not sure why we just went for a SIM card but it is a great rate for unlimited data, messages and local calls so we can call each other when out separately- we have not looked into e sims properly 🤣 hope your trip goes well - we are really enjoying it so far. On Koh Lipe at the moment that is lovely 🏝️❤️
I think you were definitely stitched up by your friends although it sounds like you have now had the full Bangkok experience ! If you end up in Bangkok for a few days on the way back the Grand Palace is the best of all in our opinion. Oh and hope you get the chance for a tuk tuk ride sometime! Ps. You can download maps before travelling in google maps so you don’t need data to use them. Apple Maps also has this feature now.
Thanks for this Dan- we are such non-techies we didn't even realise this about Google maps- what a revalation🎉 Will definitely save me time making sketch maps in my journal😂😂😂 The thing we realised was that we would never have enough time to do everything, but the great thing is we have things to come back to on our next trip. We are so pleased that we had a good first experience of Bangkok, as we weren't sure that would be the case. It's a crazy city, but we will be happy to return in the future and tick off a few more things we didn't get to do this time. Thanks for the tips👍
Great video with a nice piece to the camera on the boat. But that market is nothing compared to the "Tat" you can buy at Bury market 😂 Looking forward to the next instalment
Thanks for this- we are trying to get braver with the camera in public, but it doesn't come easy to two pretty shy people😂 Glad to hear that Bury Market is keeping up with the international plastic tat standards😂 Are the food concessions similar as well?😉 Thanks for the comment👍
We were pretty sure we had, as we just couldn't find anywhere to eat. The whole area was vast. A lovely experience that will stay with us for quite some time! Thanks for the comment👍
Great video thanks guys. Have you got and use a Revolut card? I'd be interested to know if the exchange rate via Revolut (£ to Thai Baht) is better than exchanging cash at an FX shop? Thanks
Thanks for this Ray. Just checked that out on line...a very good exchange rate. We will try to seek them out for our next exchange. Super Rich (green) are however pretty competitive and we were pleased with what rate we got. Thanks for the tip off. 👍
I'm like Jackie with food, slightly picky but my wife will devour anything, while we were there after trying all different street food to my dismay she insisted on going upmarket to a quite expensive restaurant, within 5 minutes of getting seated a young sodden rat dragged itself under every table from one end to the other while i watched people jumping up as it passed. So to say we were back on street food and 7/11 for the rest of our stay. The best meal i had was a green curry in a shack in the middle of nowhere.
Much admiration, lovely how you are enjoying your lives - great inspiration, thank you from Canada!
Thanks Sean, very much appreciated. We really are loving every minute of it...although it puts us out of our comfort zones quite regularly😂
Thanks again👍

It has been pretty fantastic so far! Bangkok was awesome and crazy then we visited the historic bridge over the river Kwai

Thanks for taking us along on such a fun few days of travel. Experiencing the King's procession must have been such a wonderful surprise. Stay well!
The procession was so calm , peaceful and beautiful- such a lovely occasion to stumble upon!! Bangkok was so much better than we had expected!!

Bangkok was definitely full on and crazy for sure! 🤣 we are now on a lovely, small, quiet little island for a weeks rest 🏝️

Wow what a mix of things
It's a crazy city Gary...with so much to see and do, we hardly scratched the surface in only 5 days.
Great film Guys really enjoyed it, thanks 😊
Many thanks, it's always nice to hear stuff like this.
Have a good one👍

@earlyretirementwanderlust Aye. Boiled pigs blood and fat (known locally as a Black pudding)😋
I think you missed the crucible of China Town. Yaowarat road is where it’s all restaurants as far as you can see.

Great video,TT currency exchange is the one i use, always top rates
