    Super blends. Thank you. And I didn't find it repetitive because I love hearing about colors and their qualities. I tend to work within one set at a time, mainly so my head doesn't explode, but I think it's so valuable to see color charts that mix brands up so we get more out of them, especially with standalone pastel or gray-toned sets.

    How on earth do I see nothing from you for a little while, see your Dark Fairytale video from Kirby, then see this AS you upload?! Love it. Love your stuff Claire! Edit to add: I have never been brave enough to mix brands, but you have convinced me to try mixing brands. Have you found that there is a particular set of brands that mix or blend better than others? It's fantastic to be able to extend my Prismacolours by supplementing them with another brand, I am going to have to order some Castle pencils. Thank you for doing these videos :)

    Thank you for creating this chart! I have all of the Castle Arts sets including the Metallic (which aren't really very metallic) and Harmonious and had put ALL into one huge pencil case as I think of them as one set of 288 colors! But I hadn't thought to combine with Prismacolor or Polychromos. I really enjoy the Harmonious set as it reminds me of the Tombow Irojiten 100 set as having "colors" that I didn't see in most "Western" made pencil sets.
    I'm excited to see what your detailed color eye creates next!

    Such a good video. I’ve never had any castle art color pencils , but these two have been on my radar since the harmonies set came out. I have a hard time using my different brands together in one combo. I should probably work on that .
    I have your color chart and I telll everyone about it. It’s so helpful. Especially when I was more of a beginner and trying to figure out combos and prismas themselves. Such a good tool to have. And I should probably re do it, because my goodness, it’s well loved, and it shows 😅 I think it would be worth the experiment to do a a video using polys in this way ❤

    Fantastic work Claire. I hadn't thought about doing it with Prismas, I want to do it for Polys for exactly the reasons you said. And I also think the Harmonious will work well with the Polys, they are different shades. Polys are a favourite pencil, but sorely lacking in the lighter tints and darker desaturated colours. People are going to love this!

  • @waymire01
    @waymire01 5 дней назад

    The Brutfuner macarons are much nicer than the pasteltints, and less than half the price, for the same colors. I'm rather surprised they haven't released a "harmonious" set yet. Both the pasteltint and the macaron are dupes for Holbein, so if you want just those colors in the blends you can buy the open stock. I now wonder if there are any of the harmonious colors in Holbein.
    I had the macarons in with my polys for a long time, they get along just fine. I eventually pulled them out, since they are not available open stock, and put a selection of prisma in with them instead. That is now my favorite dry pencil set I own, and my most used.
    The "gold standard" would be to add those few holbeins that are even lighter, which I have considered but never gotten around to.. I find with prisma white I really don't need them, it's so creamy and pigmented I can tint colors with no issue.
    I have no idea why Faber hasn't put out lighter shades in the polys.. except for the fact they are designed to be layered and therefore don't need them if used in that manner. They did have a pastel set of Goldfabers, and you can still find them floating around online.. and from what I can tell there used to be lighter shades in the Albrecht Durer as well, that have since been discontinued.
    For anyone interested Karen Valentine (not a colorist, a colored pencil artist) has a master swatch sheet on her Kofi.. she combines all her artist quality brands together by rough color family.. so you can see not only Holbein but Lightfast, Pablo, etc as well to find those "different" colors within the brands. I refer to it often.

    Fantastic video thank you! I cant see a link to download the chart? Only a link for the castle arts website.. anyway the HA colours are my absolute favourites. They really elevated my colouring. I got them to go with my long time used arteza colours before getting a second hand set of 72 prismas. Then I got the pastel set which is great because they’ve got all the warmer colours to the HA set. Harmonious indeed! Yes for the polys ☺️ I reordered all my brands together in the best colour order I could achieve so I’ve used all of them plus polys and some others together too.
    Its not a swatch chart without it being messed up somewhere let’s be honest haha

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 5 дней назад +1

      All the small sets (urban, botanical, etc) are directly from the soft touch 120. The pasteltints and harmonious are different although there are quite a few similar shades in the pasteltints and the 120. There are also unique shades in their gold set. The pasteltints and harmonious are a different white labeled pencil than the standard soft touch or gold from Castle Arts.

    I combine my FC with DW Lightfast pencils. Although the LF are softer, they "fuse" very well with Polys, as they are both oil based (and professional grade). I relegated my Pasteltints to be used with cheaper brands, like Arteza or Castle Art originals. But after watching your video, I might reconsider and give them some love, :). I tried to blend Prismas with Brutfuner Macarons, because they are soft as well. Works fine on small areas, but on bigger ones there is a definitive dividing line, because the composition of the pigments differs. Great video, as always. Please do the next with FC Polychromos (and/ or Polys and LF, 😛). Hugs from Spain.
