This was one of the greatest games of all time for its genre. Despite being SNES, the 32 bit graphics/sprites put many 64 bit console titles to shame in both appearance and playability. A+++
They are more stylized. Like they replaced Zingers, which were just overgrown bees, with some flying cyborg thing. The normal fish from dkc1 are now literal "clown" fish. Even the kremlings are more stylized with larger bodies and bigger snouts. Not saying one style is worse, but there's a clear shift in direction
Donkey Kong country 3 was made by the b-team at Rare, while the main team at rare were already busy making n64 games. The b-team had the engine from the first two DKC games to work with, but yeah generally the game isn't quite as good as DKC 2 cos they weren't quite as experienced with game development as the main team Tbh though, they still absolutely smoke the bosses from DKC 1. The bosses in that first game were pathetucslly easy and all seemed to be pretty much the same thing, variations on a theme. The DKC 3 bosses weren't quite DKC 2 level but they still actually had a challenge to them, and they're a lot more inventive and unique than the DKC 1 bosses

I think DKC3 has better boss music than DKC2 but nothing comes close to DKC1. Still love this game though.
