Thank you, Dr. Omalu for your integrity on this issue. The integrity you have contradicts not only the NFL "doctors", but places you on the side of truth; against the NFL's profit motive.
When the doctor expressed his regret it made me so sad, awareness is the key to change, even if it's only a little.
+kagomers A researcher, doctor, scientist, etc. should never, in any case, be forced to regret such an important discovery. It's a shame what happened to Dr. Omalu. It's even more of a shame that the NFL continues to downplay the seriousness of CTE to this day.
+kagomers i don't know if he was sincerely regretful or just trying to say he was the wrong person to discover this.. i feel he is just disappointed at the fact that no one really wanted to accept that football was a dangerous sport.. it is pretty upsetting though how he felt he shouldn't of crossed paths with the player, but thanks to him at least some the families of those that suffered from their loved one with cte finally can get some answers
Kevin Green yeafuck the scum pos company called the NFL.
The NFL does not give a damn about how CTE affects its players. All they care about is making money.
I boxed and played football in high school and college. I would love to have deniers come see me in the morning trying to get out of bed.
Wassup man, how bad is it?
@@shadowdestroyer5033 pain is part of my routine. I soldier on
the fact the a doctor is regretting making this discovery is very very scary and disheartening. if more people are ostracized by higher powers for potentially making discoveries that can save people's lives. we are headed down a slippery and dark path
Noman Tariq exactly what I was thinking!!
So true Dr Bennet Omalu is a real hero for going against the NFL for the sake or truth! Later Dr Ann Mckee has continued his work!
I think he means the anguish and the backlash he received was a lot more compared to the fulfilment of finding the cause of the brain injury. Like he said,”.....do not go after the NFL, they will squash you.”
Wrong. He is showing weakness. When you believe something you don’t apologize. You don’t waiver. Thank you Dr. We are listening. You are not a victim.
"For the love of money (or personal gain) is the root of all evil...."
Let's play a game where we bash our heads every minute. What possibly could go wrong.
Truth and facts must never be allowed to get in the way of the pursuit of money.
players are expendable ... who cares what happens to them after they retire. What they do on the field is ETERNAL!
gideondavid30 How about the player who doesn't set any records? Win any championships? How "eternal" are their accomplishments? What about their families?
gideondavid30 just like the ancient gladiators huh. Who cares what happens to them. I'm officially done with football. :-(
gideondavid30 god ur a piece of fucking dog shit
macca676 exactly how they see it
Football is horrible. Governed by horrible human beings. I hope it goes away.
I am a football player in high school. Now, it’s different then the nfl by a lot, but new safety regulations and equipment are being made to decrease risks. I don’t see any reason for it to go away completely. Every football player knows the risks of playing football. It’s the love for the game that keeps men coming back. And yes, football is dangerous. But deep down every sport is dangerous.
Why? I think it desperately needs some changes to make it better for safety but it is still insanely fun to watch and play
Science 10000 bigger then the NFL
Omalo never got his award noble prize
having will smith to play for this guy is also a denial lol :).. his original character is far more unique
Aye shut up
Will smith did a really good job though..

plus Will Smith is a Scientologist, so all the money the movie makes supports Scientology! Watch the Frontline documentary "League of Denial" instead, it very good! Dr Omalu has also written a book called "Truth Doesn't Have a Side: My Alarming Discovery About The Danger Of Contact Sports"
I’m wondering if playing a sport and they said there’s a chance you could have mental problems neurological issues and possibly live to be 50 or so with chronic pain is the game and the money that important I would say ask a man laying on his death bed from problems and complications due to a combat sport is it worth it ?
What's the point of this? To better inform. So if people want to persue it as a sport and as a career can be better informed of the risks that they will take on. Rather then be lied to and believe everything will be okay when there is a good chance it won't. That's what. It's a moral thing.
It's about the fact that football is glorified by the ends rather thanthe means. In this case it is just informational, but the effect of it is what you make out of it.
What’s fucked up about this. Is something that can save people from losing a family member but informing these athletes of a potential ,neurological disorder. This was discovered by an genius in his field of study.! But now he Can’t do what he loves which, most likely would have progressed into more discoveries. The politics is he’s a black man, a doctor, and he’s threatening billions of dollars. They can’t have that. Now he wishes he shouldn’t have done the right thing smh
The league denies the dangers of football like the tobacco companies denied dangers of smoking.
It's funny how people will protest the tobacco industry but not football.
Wrong. Tobacco companies have warning labels on their products (like cigarettes and tobacco dips). In spite warning labels people still by their products. I guess to people CTE is more scarier than cancer
The NFL tried to ruin these guys' careers. It's just a dumb game tossing a little ball around and somehow it's been allowed to turn into a billions dollar industry. Ridiculous.
Janet G If football is such a dumb game, why do so many Americans love it? It became a billion dollar sport b/c of simple economics. Players are now aware of the potential dangers associated with the game. How many have you seen quit as a result? Your comment is a blanket statement opinion and far from a fact. You come off as a selfish fool by saying that you don't like it, it's dumb and you want to make all of the rules. How many of your passions and interests could others call dumb? Selfish much?? Idiot!
+james lachs "if footbll is such a dumb game, why do so many americans love it?!
What does that has to do with anything, your reasoning is a non sequitur... americans can love football and it still can be a dumb game...
+Melissa Bellais I understand your point. Probably not the best wording on my part, however, I'm sticking to the spirit of my point. (which you completely missed by not even addressing the subject matter!) Is this your thing? Cruising around RUclips looking for language structure flaws in issues you have no stated interest in. Oops, I just ended a sentence in a preposition! Is this how you feel better about yourself? Sounds like a great life! RUclips is filled to the brim with all types of written flaws. Have a ball and good luck, Ms. Non Sequitur.
+james lachs the spirit, the sentiment, the meaning of your sentence is irrelevant, it's your opinion and it has nothing to do with the fact that American Football is a dumb game which is the point you were -poorly and without factual asertions- rebutting
+Melissa Bellais Melissa, get help! I write these posts in 2 minutes. I don't have the time, energy or desire to debate this foolishness with you. If you're end goal is "to win," then you've won. Congrats. Your parents must be so proud! Have a nice Holiday weekend!
football should have a standing 10 count similar to boxing. save these guys from themselves. if they dont make the count they cant play that day.
CTE is a Reality Kenny the snake Stabler suffered dearly before he passed away in 2015 then the NFL commissioner does not give a damn or does the NFL it is a reality
I am a packer fan so when our season was over i rooted for the Steelets Terry Bradshaw thats why i like Brett Farve i said we have our Bradshaw then the WR's the Webster and his arms a big tough country boy , mean Joe Green who i hope gets to grow old and he passes surrounded by loved ones when he leaves not like so many of his team mates who died lost in their own body when you have a head injury i put like your a prisoner in your body but you look in the mirror and go who is this guy , he looks back and goes i dont know.
it's football think about what the sport is. if you wanna play football then you should now that's it's dangerous your trying to tackle a guy running a full speed. and if your were to nieve to understand that then thats a little dangerous but that is the dangers of football
Money can corrupt anyone. Pretty fuckin horrible.
Big money corrupts
There’s so much money in the sport. Who stands to lose?
I don't understand why the NFL doesn't insist on better, safer helmets from manufacturers. If football being unsafe would be the end of football don't just try to down-play the risks, fix them!
In order for a mere helmet to deflect the blunt force trauma that these players receive the helmets would need either crumple technology (not a good idea) or some kind of bracers connected to the ground (which would literally ruin the game) or dispersed to various shock absorbing parts of the human body (like lower back, thighs, and/or shins). That last "fix" would end up ruining the player faster since the spinal column itself is already one of the best shock absorbents in our bodies.
Short answer: the helmets aren't the problem and probably won't be the solution.
Quality Vader-Luke Time some former athlete said "just play the game without helmets" such an interesting idea, having a helmet makes you learn to use it essentially.
+boomshizzIe or without facemasks. basically anything to prevent the players from using it as a weapon.
Rugby has less, but no CTE problem.. They play without helmets and padding and they play a full game and not platoons. They cannot be as big because of that and cannot use their heads to ram other players because they will hurt themselves doing so. They cannot tackle hard, so they tackle smart. Get US football back to the 1930s. Soft helmets with no facemasks, no offensive and defensive teams, no shoulder pads. Ban tacking above the shoulder.
Helmets won't help no matter how safe you can get them to be
That Julian Bales is a spitting image of Alec Baldwin. Dayum they should get dna testing
While everyone in this country was mad at the NFL for the stupid standing of the flag thing that was blown way out of proportion and turned into a political football I was mad at them for their denial in this exact case. Americans fall for the stupidest shit sometimes.
i think i have CTE smh
Praying for you
Look at will Smith
Whats the point of this ? The game is what it is and these injuries are unavoidable !
yeah,,,a bicycle rider just got diagnosed with cte,,, after he killed himself ,,, come on people,,,, it's not a football thing,,,,,, people have to live there lives,,,,, I have depression,, anxiety,,, is it from football,, baseball,,, basketball,, fighting,,, falling,, slipping,,, car crashes,,,, wrestling,,,, get my point,,, it's life,,,, deal
Are you suffering from a concussion right now? ,,,, ,,,,, ,,,,, ,,,,, ,,,,,
Mark Macintyre yeah your right football is a sport where this happens ask the time your trying to tell me you deal with a t last one of those a day 😔 let's be honest no
I love football. I played for seven years. Three before high school and four in high school. I prevented my sons from playing the game I loved because my wife and I thought it would be better for them. Now we have the evidence to prove me right. My son was angry that I prevented him from playing. A year ago he read some studies and made a point to tell me thanks for saving his brain. We should always look at the evidence. Have no fear. Science can set you on the right path. Have the courage to look. Thanks for letting me know.
Ricardo rugby also has different rules. There is more high speed collisions and do to the padding players hit harder in football. I tried both sports and Fuck do they hurt. Hockey is kinda the same higher speed collisions and harder hits than football but less concussions because hitting a guy high will either give you a trip to the hospital after a fight or a automatic suspension
Ricardo rugby also has a history of CTE. I wouldn’t play rugby
But you were ok. I played 4 years in high school. In hindsight, I had concussions. We referred to it as getting your "bell rung". I would do it all over again. Loved the game. Still do.
I played 5 years of football. 4 in high school and 1 in community college. You can't live in fear. All sports have a possibility of major injuries. You were being a parent but your kids at one point are gonna make their own choices regardless of your attitude.
This guy is right, I played 3 years in high school. 4 in college and a couple of more in a couple of more places. STAY AWAY FROM THE GRIDIRON. I have problems remembering simple stuff and I just hit 40.
Dr. Bennet Omalu will forever be known as a GREAT AMERICAN HERO, A TRUE DOCTOR FOR AMERICAN MEDICINE.
I wish I could meet Doctor Omalu, shake his hand, and thank him for his hard work and courage.
it blows my mind this was in the 2000s and not the 80s, or 90s
Love this doctor. I love the sport and the Cowboys. Not the NFL.
How many high school and college athletes are imprisoned for CTE related behaviors? guess what, there is a silver lining ....we all love football, now we have to protect our players better, and there are so many things not yet being done....
Dr. Edwconr fuck football it will never be better. Get rid of it that is the only option.
I know right because I suffer from CTE
@@williamivery1809 stay strong
@@SI10379 thank you I just take one day at a time
@williamivery1809 hope you're doing okay....
It's all about the money.
This dr was coward but omalo was not thats the story
The Price of Glory
Glory is fleeting and then the consequences last forever. Players have to ask themselves, is playing football or boxing or anything else that causes CTE worth it?
Republicans like calling the denials as a "Principled Stance". You can equate this to Gun Regulations, Climate change election finance, etc..
Excuse me, but where did you get Republicans from? There are no Democrats or Republicans in this country. Just plain, red blooded, Americans.
Stfu. Why do u have to bring politics into sports
This is terrible and boxers have been in a worse situation since that sport has been invented.
Show this to parents who’s kids have football teams at their schools.
4,30 good also that lien was actually in the film.

How can a neurologist from 98 99 season not see?
A football player must understand the risk of getting seriously hurt, but then again, a football player cannot play the game fearing an injury, otherwise he won't play well.
I love Peyton manning. Hope he dosent get it.
Qbs dont usually get it that severe because they dont take that many hits
ridicuolous omalu trying to become a hero
He is not trying to become a hero, he is one already.
