I got this game recently and the one biggest piece of advice I can give: get the shock module, and the solar module for the seamoth, reapers instantly let go of you when shocked, and because reapers only appear above ground you always have solar power to shock then with, and ghost leviathans found underground are slow enough you can usually out-manuver them as long as you keep your eye on them. No idea about any other predatory leviathans yet though, I'm not fully done with the story yet, I only recently found the *spoiler* building in the cave-y bit with the green liquid that hurts you and I'm setting up an intermediary seabase at the big tree near the bit of the cave that goes deeper into a lava-y place that I presume has the *spoiler* with the sea dragon leviathan.
i just swum and stood on a sandbar a few meters from the aurora the entire in-game night trying to figure out if i could enter the aurora without having to touch the ocean ever again. figured nothing, and then just shut my off computer and left the room...
This is literally me when I make plans to go to deeper areas I'll get to the entrance then just kinda sit there waiting if I can see anything that would eat me. It took literally 20-30 minutes to travel what should have taken 2 because I was scared
....or you can NOT go around the wrong way... i go to the aurora every time i run out of nutrition block things and never run into him. only time i do is if im dumb enough to go around the other side of the ship near the crater edge.
First time I visited it I tried to go through the rear thrusters. I thought everything was chill then I hear a roar and a reaper leviathan jumps out of the water 2 meters away from me. Damn I was scared.
Possibly the mark of somebody being payed off. The thing is riddled with bugs and suspension of disbelief ruining frame jank and pop in. I mean i tried my best to love this game. Really did.
Christian Ruocco Ive never had a single problem with it after full release, the only problems Ive ever had was with using console commands to speed up game (bc Im impatient af) and then going through a certain portal at that one place with the sea emperor (I know there is a name for it I just dont feel like looking it up). It made me fall endlessly so I had to respawn. But other than that its my favorite game of all time and Im going to replay it in VR and try and get screenshots to capture its beauty

There's an area in this game about 1200m down where you take constant damage over time just for being there because of how hot it is, so you definately need to be comfortable with taking risks (especially since I think there might be some story stuff down there, I haven't beat the game yet but there's a few things that point to that area)

Yes but the map is small and you don’t have much thing to do, like maybe make a cool giant base that will lag up your world or scanning everything when you can read it it fandom
@@student9516 "The map is small". Is it though? Horizontally, and compared to a typical open world game, sure. But Subnautica is a) more dense than a typical game, and b) extremely vertical.
If you haven't experienced the sheer terror of seeing the Reaper Leviathan literally come out of the side of the Aurora just to scare the piss out of you, you haven't played Subnautica for more than four months. (Cuz it was patched out about eight months ago, if I recall correctly.)

@I wasted my name change for this Its the edge of the map. Theres nothing there resource wise. Just a drop straight down and ghost leviathans that will hunt you until you go back.
This game is better than anything you could come up with. Unknown Worlds Entertainment made a masterpiece in gaming: Amazing story, awesome creatures and some pretty good fucking jumpscares. How dare you make fun of their work. *Aghast cough*
Did no one notice the Seamoth was constantly deeper then 200m.... CHEATS! Edit: The seamoth can clearly be upgraded to 300m,5/600m,900m but him going as deep as active lava with a BIG YELLOW 200M and no upgrades in the bottom 4 slots shows that's not the case. And even upgraded the Seamoth can't do the lava zones. Edit 2: ppl pointed out its creative mode and they're right because when he's in the seamoth he has no hunger, O2, health meters. My bad.
And did no one notice it in the Lava zones neither of which can be accessed with a 900m seamoth? Did this really need to be spelled out or did you just read the comment and not watch the video?
After they lost half their original crew and multiple fun series (not even a game bang in the last 2 months?) I hope they at least intend to revive their -winter- summer games...
You know what really made me shit myself in the beginning? Going somewhere new a little bit deeper and suddenly the music starts to change. Everytime that happens I was like "nope, fuck that, I'm outta here". That made the game a lot longer because I was too scared to progress.
That's normal. First time I picked up the game I got as far as my first reaper attack in the dunes in my seamoth and I nope'd out and quit for 6 months. After that 6 months started a brand new game, slowly overcame that funny gut feeling and finished it. I still feel apprehensive in the blood kelp zone even after my second playthrough...
Underwater levels are usually frustrating and a bit crap though, this game is really good and the water is handled brilliantly. In my opinion, at least.
I dont understand what everyone has against water levels. the water temples in zelda were usually my favorites. donkey kong and mario had some great water levels as well. sonic's were pretty brutal though.
Showing the ghost leviathan, slight spoiler but nothing big. Showing the psychic leviathan thing which plays a huge part in the story. Like, fam? Same with the alien structures. That's a big plot twist that's kinda ruined D:
I played this game for HOURS... But had to take a break once in a while, I'm terrified of the ocean. Man the sounds and environments are terrifyingly amazing.
"You may even call it... Deep." WATER you doing? I mean, I was pretty BUBBLY before hearing that. I would say that I CURRENTly am not very amused. And, now, I give a WAVE and say goodbye.
@@eldritchskye2608 Actually it's kinda a sequel, but with other characters because who knows what happened to our boy, that most likely got addicted to meth after selling his PDA full of data and becoming the richest man alive. But it's just a theory, a game theory...
@@sphee4149 Good point, however I feel like his PDA was worth more than that. I mean, he could negociate to increase his profits, and here's another thing: that was an automated message, If he were to talk to Alterra's CEO, real person, he will surely find a way to escape his debt.
It only becomes a jumpscare if you're not paying attention to your surroundings....at least in this game. There are no 'monster closets' in Subnautica. Every threat announces its presence with ample time/distance for you to avoid it if you wish. Just look and listen and nothing will hurt you unless you let it.
*To anyone out there who hasn't beaten the game because they get scared:* I feel you. I've been playing for a while (like 3 days adding up the time spent) and just now got into the deeper areas. Heck, I still don't have the big sub and exosuit. Don't feel embarassed by how long it's taking you. This game is a terrifying and awe-inspiring experience. Remember, though, you can do it. Whether you scream all the way down into the darkest pits of the ocean, or need to pause 50 times throughout, you got this. Keep going deeper, scan everything, but do it at your own pace. You'll get there eventually. I believe in you.
My first exploration into the depths, I over prepared. I stocked and upgraded my cyclops like it was a doomsday bunker. It was terrifying until the very end. And then, I was like, "ohh...". It's not scary at all when you understand them. Just don't let the leviathans sneak up on you. That still makes me jump.
Megashark 101 Earlier in the development the wiki was fairly necessary, because a lot of the beacons and progression wasn't in the game yet. For instance, the used to be no marker for the Grand Reefer Degrassi Base, which you need to find to progress.
This game is so fun, I remember starting out without watching any videos on it and it was a fun place to explore. I also would never swim at night lol. It was fun when I took the game more seriously haha
This was the first game I ever played in VR. Rented it for 2 hours at a gaming spot. Had never heard anything about the game either. Just dropped down into an ocean where everything sounds terrifying and you have no idea what wants to eat you. Was swimming through a giant coral after pissing my self getting away from the creep vine jungle, when right as I was about to exit the other side that I heard first then immediately saw for the first time the fookin gas-o-pod. I jumped out of my seat right there and flung my headset into the seat before I could even scream let alone realize those things are actually friendlies. Nothing is about as scary as crawling through the creep vines for the first time with no information and hearing the scuttlers kaws and crackles of the metal grabby things. Until you decide to explore with no vehicle into the open ocean in a game where land is the scarcest commodity around. Looking down for 3 minutes, don't see anything, don't know the world. Running from something trying to eat you feels better than just the miles deep dark navy blackness below you. 3 more minutes of swimming, gotta be getting near something. NOPE, still look down and see nothing at all. I WANT TO GO BACK. Pop up to the surface, nothing at all. Can't see anything in any direction. Swim down, hear the sounds get deeper and softer, the light fades away, but your air upgrades arn't even high enough to reach anything by the time your air runs out. Vision going black as I reach the surface. DAMN SCARY. This game gave me "Thalassophobia", and that is the highest praise for its atmosphere and sound design that I could ever give. I almost decided to drown myself at that open ocean moment just because I didn't want to be there anymore. I would have if I didn't have a waypoint to go to. Fantastic game. And I only played it for an hour in a half of the time I payed for because I was too scared to continue. And this was over 6 months ago when it was still in early access too. I for some reason want to go back to this game now.
One of the greatest experiences i’ve ever had in gaming. Seriously. I’ll never forget the adventures i had sailing around in my cyclops. Every play session was like an episode of a series.
Me playing subnautica before I got the prawn suit: *that was a sound I don't care what made that sound I'm leaving* Me after getting the prawn suit: **hooks onto a sea dragon's back and starts punching** *_YEEHAW_*
"Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region" 1. Save and go ahead anyway making your heart pump blood like a motor 2. Save and go back to the shallows
Maybe RDR2 will be the official goty 2018 but in my eyes subnautica is the goty 2018 just occasional bugs, draw distances issues and an annoying inventory management hold back this game from a perfect 10/10 ( timeless masterpiece)
Oddly enough I never felt that inventory management was a detriment to the game to be honest. It felt rather reasonable and fair, it encouraged you to want to build a base sooner, rather than later, and your base is... well, your base of operations. You were *supposed* to want to go back to it often and if you made calculated trips out to get resources, you shouldn't have very many problems. Now, okay, early game particularly the first time you visit the mountain island I could see, but even that wasn't too bad IMO.
The first time I attempted to play Subnautica I exited my pod through the ceiling, looked around at the vast ocean around me, the burning ship, and how there was no land in sight and my palms started sweating. I was having a minor panic attack and I hadn't even started! My husband, who recommended the game to me, coaxed me into getting into the water doing SOMETHING, but I initially wrote off the game completely. I have since played it twice and now I've moved on to Below Zero! It's definitely one of my favorites.
I'm pretty sure we didn't have to beg for this honest trailer, it honestly sounds like they sincerely enjoyed this game. And why wouldn't they? It was fantastic. Even more so on later playthroughs, like focusing on exploration, or downloading mods that make it much harder like radiation challenge and realistic recipes.
Subnautica and Outer Wilds were the best PS4 games I played in 2019. Edge to Subnautica for the crafting system and absence of time limits besides oxygen. MILD SPOILER ----- stack scanner room range instead of wandering around looking for rocks. My second playthrough is much more fun with this knowledge.
All these people loving a game that I never saw good gameplay of makes me want to play it for myself because the few snipits of content I saw the people must not of been playing very well. Yes, I have never played subnautica
@@goingkilling0468 Bruv I love survival games, that and rts games but ya i love survival games. I play a lot of ark tho cuz its one of the few out there that is multiplayer and is more intuitive
This game is seriously scary. Then you get the seaglide and stalkers become a joke. Then you get the seamoth and bonesharks become a joke. Then you get the prawn suit and leviathans becomes a joke. Then you get the cyclops shield and everything becomes a joke, except those damn energy leeches. Those things WILL munch all of your submarine’s battery power.
I remember the first run through of this game much more than a lot of games I've played. I recall when Id first started venturing a little further to where the crabsquids are, i hid for quite a while because I could've sworn I'd heard the damn thing mimicking the noises my seaglide made. I turned off all the lights and just sat in a hole in the rock as long as my O2 tank would let me. After all the years of spooky shooters before and after, Ive never felt more like prey than my first run-in with a crabsquid. Absolutely legendary game.
"I give real me 20 minutes before something chews off my torso" Accurate. I agree the character in this game is way too competent to start, calm and collected. what did they do to the human race?

This game is better than anything you could come up with. Unknown Worlds Entertainment made a masterpiece in gaming: Amazing story, awesome creatures and some pretty good fucking jumpscares. How dare you make fun of their work.
*Aghast cough*
Yeah it's an amazing game I once rode a ghost leviathan to the shallows while killing it it was insane

Great game, but inside base building is a frickin NIGHTMARE
It’s a brilliant game but having to eat or especially drink water every two minutes can slow down the pacing way too often.
Subnautica in one sentence "if you didn't already have thalassaphobia, you do now"
Did no one notice the Seamoth was constantly deeper then 200m....
My bad.
Lance Seaman Erm yeah suuuure man 😓
Not cheats just upgrades which u can do in game
He hadn't done those upgrades though, or the "200" meter in the top would say 500 or 900, or at least it would in the patch I played.
Hust91 thank you.
And did no one notice it in the Lava zones neither of which can be accessed with a 900m seamoth? Did this really need to be spelled out or did you just read the comment and not watch the video?
The only good content in this channel.
milovarquiel True dat!

milovarquiel I use to hate comments like this but fuck has smosh games gone to shit
Only reason i'm still subbed.
I usually don't get scared with any horror game, This one had me feeling that funny nervous feeling in my stomach every time I went exploring
It's one long water level of a game.
Is this one of those games where you die when touching water?
No water levels are underwater. Platformers like mario, sonic etc. Feature levels like this.
Pretty accurate, the eel from super Mario would fit like a glove lmao
He wasn’t even able to make the game sound bad, if that isn’t enough proof for a amazing game idk what is

Renzonio de Vries no it isn't. It didn't even mention the Virus.
Showing the ghost leviathan, slight spoiler but nothing big. Showing the psychic leviathan thing which plays a huge part in the story. Like, fam? Same with the alien structures. That's a big plot twist that's kinda ruined D:

I was really upset at that XD took me forever to get the modification station lmfao
I uninstalled this game after my first reaper leviathan encounter.
WackyMac Mac Too scared?
Why?
Too Terrified, and I really hate jumpscares
hearing a distant roar in the dark ocean depths and fearing for your health bar is part of the immersive experience

You forgot the part where you search the Wiki to progress further in the game
Gradono i should be able to like a comment more than once. That is 100% what they were supposed to put
So accurate it’s not even funny
Sir Aflack +1
So inaccurate it's actually frustrating. You don't need to read the wiki to progress through the game, unless you're an idiot.
My first 15 hours were done without reading a single page. It felt so good to actually play, play
This game is terrifying. Especially in VR.
Wesley Tarr that’s why it’s amazing.... it took me 3 days to play it again after being killed by a ghost leviathan.....also cuddlefish!!!!!!
The Katamari games need an honest trailer. They're insane and the 'Starring' section would be full of amazingly random things!
One of the greatest experiences i’ve ever had in gaming. Seriously. I’ll never forget the adventures i had sailing around in my cyclops. Every play session was like an episode of a series.

Game was too short and too easy imo, not enough species. It gives you a amazing enjoyment for first 20 hours, then you have seen it all.
I had never heard about this game before, but it looks amazing.
It is worth buying. I have it since its release
HypnoPants they enjoyed the game so much he put it on creative to get gameplay footage past the first hour of the game because the game is so bad xD
As a huge fan of Subnautica, this is exactly 100% right. Just more dramatic.
The fact that this trailer isn't actually something bad has to tell something about this game.

I recall when Id first started venturing a little further to where the crabsquids are, i hid for quite a while because I could've sworn I'd heard the damn thing mimicking the noises my seaglide made. I turned off all the lights and just sat in a hole in the rock as long as my O2 tank would let me.
