I don't ever play LAN, but I went back and played Black Ops 3 online, and it's embarrassing how much smoother that game runs compared to WWII. Great job, Sledgehammer.

BlevHawk03 I wish everyone would. After playing WW2 and going back to BO3 It's like going 10-years into the future. BO3 just seems to be way ahead of its time compared to WW2. Graphics, overall appearance, customization, playability, etc., it's all much better than WW2. If you're reading this and haven't been on BO3 in a while do yourself a favor and jump back on for a few games. (I recently got a 4k television and BO3 looks amazing. The detail is amazing. WW2 still looks awful.)

This is the disadvantage of continuing to use such an old game engine for the base of your game. id Tech 3 (which the Infinity Ward engine that all modern CoD engines are based on) was released way back in 1999, over 17 years ago now.
The player movement is awful. The amount of times I have to watch the killcam to confirm that the enemy saw, shot and killed me before he even showed up on my screen is insane.
strafing is definitely out of control, and I think in general run speed is too fast. You'll have what looks like a sure kill and a guy disappears around a corner before you can get 3 shots off. And it's just not very smooth, it feels herky jerky and inconsistent. Go play MWR or BO3 and you'll notice a huge difference.
this is very true. they use this on purpose to give unskilled, casual players advantage. i think cod company uses some sort of lag delayer for some players, so noobs feel the game experience much more rewarding. When noobs can kill a gosu player with lag delayer or something.

I feel like all Treyarch games have that same result for that last test. That and the R870 shotty made BO2 infamous for dying and not seeing anything on your screen, but the killcam clearly showed them seeing you.
This explains so many of the issues I've been having with this game. So many shoot first, die first scenarios were explained perfectly by the "Aachen corner test". The player you're shooting first, was actually shooting you first, but his shots didn't register on you until you started firing.
So if there is latency and inconsistencies on LAN, I'm guessing online is 10 times worse or more which explains some of the lobbies I get in. This game is so inconsistent for me that if they don't fix It i'm going back to previous cod's. Not sure what it is about this game but it doesn't feel smooth. One match I can dominate, the next match barely go positive, and its the exact same players. Say what you want about IW and Bops3, but they were way more consistent than this one. Even Ghosts was more consistent even though it was my least played cod. I bet if I was in a more populated area the lobbies and connections would be better. i raged yesterday many times when I supriced enemy from the back. made a pefect aim and pressed shoot buttom, but what he did at the same time was looked behind, turned, and walked towards me to stab me.. wtf? if this was bo2 forexample it would have been 110% kill for me. but because it was de-sync ww2 lag fest. it gave him incredible 3 sec advantage to see me and kill me . there is something really strange happening in the ww2.. one of these must be true: 1. all players in the game has becomed ultra skilled which i believe is not true. 2. the cod has developed multi-series match making system, forexample if you was skilled in aw.. then in ww2 you get matched against skilled players even when you just started the game from prestige 0.. this could be true but i doubt it.. 3. cod has made somekind of system to make casual noob players more powerful and skilled player less effective. they could use lag delayer for skilled player to die much faster, to be seen much earlier. ect. so that players who camp and play slow have much more time to kill ravaging players.. 4. I havee becomed too old to play cod and my reaction time is just slow compared to adhd kids.. but i hate this kind of system. it makes me feel unfair. i am fast player and i usually run throught the map with my gun. but in ww2 you can be fast smg player you get killed so fast. i just want to quit play cod. even i devoted so many years for training it.

Cod ww2 is complete garbage. The largest game out and they can't afford full dedicated servers??? It plays like garbage on my console and I have max 12 ping, pathetic.
People like to sometimes say that the delay/difference between 2 different consoles is too small to make a difference, but you have to keep in mind CoD is fast paced enough of a game that milliseconds really do matter and when everything is desynced it just fucks the game.

This is on a direct cable connection. Wow..no wonder online it feels like u r melted in one or two shots sometimes. If the other player is seeing you before you can even react..damn good test Drift. Wonder how OW or Battle royale games fair in comparison.
I would like to add that there are many variables to take into consideration though some may make cause very very minute delays, things like the cable type cat 5, cat 5a, cat 6 or cat 6a. The length of the cable, not and few feet difference but a 10 ft cable and a 100 ft one. And the switch, it could be as different a a $20 tp-link switch or a enterprise grade cisco or juniper switch and then if the switch in gigabit or fast ethernet. I'm not saying that these would make a huge different if at all measurable but should be taken into consideration to some degree.
Bald Uzi Vert Yup. I’ve only just started playing this game and the lag is a joke. I was hitting a quick scoper with a smg and he hit once was able to reload and quick scope me again and kill me, it’s complete horseshit. I never had issues like this with older COD titles back in the 360 era.
I love it! IMO it should always be this way, meaning that rushers SHOULD have a slight advantage. It helps to discourage scrubby campers from parking in corners with sights up. I know some people like this aspect of the game, but I feel that COD is a game of gunfighting and gun-skill for fun, not the type of game that needs to be made completely boring by losers always trying to find ways to win without devoting the time to actually being proficient with their weapons.

Hey the throwing knives where changed after the recent patch. I noticed they tend to bounce off surfaces more and have a trail to see better. Has the travel speed decreased as well or is it just because we can see the knife mid air now?
I have gigabit fibre optic internet hardwired to my ps4, i get around 100-150mbps down and 7-10 up. 45ms ping, PS4 in DMZ, Ports Forwarded, tv on Game Mode, I've done everything I can think of and STILL I get so much lag. Endless hitmarkers, Every single time I die, the player in the kill cam is rubberbanding hard. I'm at my wits end. I don't know what else to do.
That's because lag comp is suppose to help people with slow internet speed. It's been widely known around the internet forums that if you slow your bandwidth down you will get better game play. Years ago (during black ops 2) people were talking online about downloading multiple things while playing black ops 2. They were crashing their internet speed on purpose. They all received better game play online. I decided to test this out. So, while I played Black ops 2 I would open about 10 windows on my laptop and played videos online in the backgroud while playing. I crashed my bandwidth while doing this. While doing this the game played "normal". I no longer died behind walls or people no longer seen me first. Also, lag comp helps people who stream online games because streaming takes bandwidth. I am really surprised more people don't know this. Especially RUclipsrs like Driftor. Not everyone has fast internet. A friend of mind only gets 2mbps. That's the fastest he can get where he lives. Also, a lot of kids play cod. They have the internet that their parents pay for. It's not always the fastest. Lag comp is here to stay. It will be in every cod game and other games as well.
mackay19850203 reading your post. You have your PS4 in the DMZ. But, also manually port forward to your PS4. I hope this is not the case. Either use the DMZ, or port forward manually. To make sense : the DMZ will open all ports to the device, except ports that are manually port forwarded. (You are confusing things by doing both) DMZ is generally fine for consoles ..... but do not use it for PC. In essence, DMZ bypasses your routers NAT/firewall.
if I run around a corner knowing full well there's a camper sitting there .I'm already firing ,got mountain div on . he can't hear me . I still get shot first on lots of occasions . never had this before on cod. why ?
The problem with this is the atmosphere is unrealistic you will never play a game like this unless its a 1v1 some games networks/processing can increase with the load. But I guess that would be hard to test with a full game of people
@drift0r I would love to see the around the corner test with each division. Because I have thought from the start that the airborne division is broken. Not only are the hitboxes "off" but sometimes you can't hear them. And I use A40s
It's cool to see this. I've had great connection with this game, as I did with BO2, Ghosts and IW. AW was sorta what I would think of as average, sorta up and down. BO3 while I enjoyed it a lot, had the worst Latency and disconnects and overall choppy game play for any COD game for me in recent memory. I'm just happy that this game has been so great for me because I know it has NOT been for many others playing WWII. I'm lucky, and I take advantage by playing a ton lol. I naturally played the ones I had better connections on, more, and sadly they weren't alway my favorites but response can make a game feel better even if certain aspects are not always your favorites in comparison to other COD titles. I'm not surprised BO3 was that off, because it felt like that times 10 in my regular online games sadly.
Lan is no doubt better than online on de-sinc . Ww2 hardcore The first 2 matches will be fine and then it moves you to another game.in that game after countdown you will be in spectator mode sometimes up to 25 seconds past start time( this is a sign you are gonna have a horrible game lol) Your signal will appear fine but your hit detection, getting shot around corners etc will ruin your game ...back out its in your best interest. Michael Condrey or whoever needs to get this fixed/ straightened out. We need consistent lobbies.
Driftor are you not getting the severe lag at the start of Dom matches. It doesn't hapeen on every game, but most for sure. Sometimes this takes so long I miss my teams first 2 flag captures. This is getting so frustrating. It is going to make me quit if not corrected soon.
Driftor, could you please do the same/similar test without LAN? I'm looking for information about real multiplayer experience. Have a friend to you join in a FFA public lobby (no player host, hopefully) record both and compare the difference. (And I love you, thanks for the videos.)
There is this stupid trick you can do in ww2 where you aim around the edge of a wall/doorway and back off the edge and the enemy cant see you until they're completely around the corner

weird.. my lag issues with ww2 was fixed last week.. now i am actually able to kill enemies. i have only 2gb limited internet connection but my ping is very good.

Of course BO3 is going to be the worst and most inconsistent. When it comes to ranking all of the recent COD’s hit registration/detection from best to worse, it’d be: 1. Infinite Warfare/MWR (I guess it’d be fair to add MWR) 2. WW2 (even though it’s really inconsistent) 3. Advanced Warfare 4. BO3 I run LAN, and my latency is usually at 5-20ms. So don’t blame my internet, blame Treyarch for having shitty servers 😌
MajinVaughn I've just heard a lot people over the years saying that MW2 had good hit detection. I would agree since it doesn't feel nearly as inconsistent as Black Ops or Black Ops 2.
That first clip, with the instant kill, pretty much says everything that is wrong with COD IMHO. I love the games, but when are people going to admit that that exact crap is happening all the time? I can be in an all max green bar lobby, across teams, and that still happens. It normally takes about 25 minutes for things to click in to place and I am the one with 17 ms ping fiber connection. People show tests where a maybe 50 ms web ping is compared to a 300ms. A player is the equivalency of feet outside of a wall before the other guy sees anything even happening. I have a video of this happening to me in WW2, where I crouched nearly a second ahead of being killed and the other guy never saw it. In face, when the calculations came back, they showed, in my death, my character standing up in the death animation.. So what do you do? If you are playing tactically it is miserable. Rushing around seems to work better.. That insta-shot though is absurd and happens to me all the time. COD must be using some sort of averaging, smoothing function, because players just zoom in to position with those instant-kills.. It is like they are averaging frames out across the loss..
I have a suggestion for another in depth video, if you want to hear it. I recently changed from a Wi-Fi connection ( my router is literally inches away from my PS4 but it still increased download speeds) and was wondering if you could do a video for the people who didn’t have a router directly next to them. Test the ping levels and find out if there is a trend of better ping for a wired connection or wireless connection. Many people have told me that a wired connection is always better but I’m just wondering about it. Like the comment so he can see it please!!

That's because lag comp is suppose to help people with slow internet speed. It's been widely known around the internet forums that if you slow your bandwidth down you will get better game play. Years ago (during black ops 2) people were talking online about downloading multiple things while playing black ops 2. They were crashing their internet speed on purpose. They all received better game play online. I decided to test this out. So, while I played Black ops 2 I would open about 10 windows on my laptop and played videos online in the backgroud while playing. I crashed my bandwidth while doing this. While doing this the game played "normal". I no longer died behind walls or people no longer seen me first. Also, lag comp helps people who stream online games because streaming takes bandwidth. I am really surprised more people don't know this. Especially RUclipsrs like Driftor. Not everyone has fast internet. A friend of mind only gets 2mbps. That's the fastest he can get where he lives. Also, a lot of kids play cod. They have the internet that their parents pay for. It's not always the fastest. Lag comp is here to stay. It will be in every cod game and other games as well.

mackay19850203 reading your post. You have your PS4 in the DMZ. But, also manually port forward to your PS4. I hope this is not the case. Either use the DMZ, or port forward manually.
To make sense : the DMZ will open all ports to the device, except ports that are manually port forwarded. (You are confusing things by doing both)
DMZ is generally fine for consoles ..... but do not use it for PC.
In essence, DMZ bypasses your routers NAT/firewall.
Not both at the same time, but have tried both with no real improvement between one or the other

if I run around a corner knowing full well there's a camper sitting there .I'm already firing ,got mountain div on . he can't hear me . I still get shot first on lots of occasions . never had this before on cod. why ?

The problem with this is the atmosphere is unrealistic you will never play a game like this unless its a 1v1 some games networks/processing can increase with the load. But I guess that would be hard to test with a full game of people
Could you do this for other games like Overwatch or PUBG?
@drift0r I would love to see the around the corner test with each division. Because I have thought from the start that the airborne division is broken. Not only are the hitboxes "off" but sometimes you can't hear them. And I use A40s

It's cool to see this. I've had great connection with this game, as I did with BO2, Ghosts and IW. AW was sorta what I would think of as average, sorta up and down. BO3 while I enjoyed it a lot, had the worst Latency and disconnects and overall choppy game play for any COD game for me in recent memory. I'm just happy that this game has been so great for me because I know it has NOT been for many others playing WWII. I'm lucky, and I take advantage by playing a ton lol. I naturally played the ones I had better connections on, more, and sadly they weren't alway my favorites but response can make a game feel better even if certain aspects are not always your favorites in comparison to other COD titles. I'm not surprised BO3 was that off, because it felt like that times 10 in my regular online games sadly.

The first 2 matches will be fine and then it moves you to another game.in that game after countdown you will be in spectator mode sometimes up to 25 seconds past start time( this is a sign you are gonna have a horrible game lol)
Your signal will appear fine but your hit detection, getting shot around corners etc will ruin your game ...back out its in your best interest.

Driftor are you not getting the severe lag at the start of Dom matches. It doesn't hapeen on every game, but most for sure. Sometimes this takes so long I miss my teams first 2 flag captures. This is getting so frustrating. It is going to make me quit if not corrected soon.
I need to experiment with my DNS settings. Using a DMS blocker (UnblockUS) is slowing me down... I think....

There is this stupid trick you can do in ww2 where you aim around the edge of a wall/doorway and back off the edge and the enemy cant see you until they're completely around the corner

So if this is wired internet, there isnt anything better than this kind of connection? I always played on WIFI and it drives me crazy, but when I see this it doesnt even matter if I put a cable in my console because its fucked up anyways!
So the guy at 1:00 blames it on lan lag rather than just unlucky shotgun spread? I find unlucky shotgun spread far more likely than lag for that specific instance.

weird.. my lag issues with ww2 was fixed last week.. now i am actually able to kill enemies. i have only 2gb limited internet connection but my ping is very good.

Of course BO3 is going to be the worst and most inconsistent. When it comes to ranking all of the recent COD’s hit registration/detection from best to worse, it’d be:
1. Infinite Warfare/MWR (I guess it’d be fair to add MWR)
2. WW2 (even though it’s really inconsistent)
3. Advanced Warfare
4. BO3
I run LAN, and my latency is usually at 5-20ms. So don’t blame my internet, blame Treyarch for having shitty servers 😌

MajinVaughn I've just heard a lot people over the years saying that MW2 had good hit detection. I would agree since it doesn't feel nearly as inconsistent as Black Ops or Black Ops 2.

I am not good at this game. I was good in IW MWR and BO3 but this one is different for some reason.
That first clip, with the instant kill, pretty much says everything that is wrong with COD IMHO. I love the games, but when are people going to admit that that exact crap is happening all the time? I can be in an all max green bar lobby, across teams, and that still happens. It normally takes about 25 minutes for things to click in to place and I am the one with 17 ms ping fiber connection. People show tests where a maybe 50 ms web ping is compared to a 300ms. A player is the equivalency of feet outside of a wall before the other guy sees anything even happening. I have a video of this happening to me in WW2, where I crouched nearly a second ahead of being killed and the other guy never saw it. In face, when the calculations came back, they showed, in my death, my character standing up in the death animation..
So what do you do? If you are playing tactically it is miserable. Rushing around seems to work better.. That insta-shot though is absurd and happens to me all the time.
COD must be using some sort of averaging, smoothing function, because players just zoom in to position with those instant-kills.. It is like they are averaging frames out across the loss..

I have a suggestion for another in depth video, if you want to hear it. I recently changed from a Wi-Fi connection ( my router is literally inches away from my PS4 but it still increased download speeds) and was wondering if you could do a video for the people who didn’t have a router directly next to them. Test the ping levels and find out if there is a trend of better ping for a wired connection or wireless connection. Many people have told me that a wired connection is always better but I’m just wondering about it. Like the comment so he can see it please!!
This only gets worse with more players.
